Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Sorry you got no sleep, @Emelia8 😞 I hope your long drive today goes OK, despite this and the rain....

You've got a good memory. I actually have a couple of weeks off around Christmas and New Year, so don't need to go in today. It's a relief, actually.

You will be in your appointment now...hope it's going well.

@NatureLover I don’t particularly like Christmas. Not for its original reason, but the commercialism and pressure so many people are under. It will pass, it does every year.

I had an appointment this morning with another physio. We are looking towards hydro therapy next year, but she is also providing a course for pain management. It sounds really good so far.

I’m sorry you are under pressure at your volunteer work. I hope it works out for you. You’ve been there for a long time, I hope that speaks in your favour.

How are your shoulders ?

I understand the difficulty keeping up with housework etc. I was online this morning on an art thread. Someone asked how everyone keeps organised. I responded with, organised, what’s that. Within minutes 4 others had left the ha ha response. We are not alone.

Take things as easy as you can. 💙💙💙

@Emelia8 Furbaby is doing ok, I’m having moments, lots of them. Time of year etc.

I hope your appointment today went, or is going, as well as can be expected. 💕💕

Hi @Maggie ...it sounds like this is a difficult time of year for you. I'm sorry to hear. And I agree about the pressure at Christmas for so many people. 😞

I'm glad your little furbaby is doing OK.

Your physio who is also providing pain management sounds hopeful. 🙂

My shoulders are bad this morning, but they ease up as I move throughout the day. Some days are worse than others...it's a mystery.

Thanks for your good wishes re work, and your encouragement re housework...much appreciated. Also I meant to say, thanks for your tag in the Craft Corner thread last week or the week before...that's a nice thread for me to go on.

Am feeling dopey today, depite a coffee...think I need another one. Here's another one for you too... ☕ with some 💜

@Maggie was just listening to this and it gave me goosebumps. It has occurred to me recently that I'm not entirely secular - that it could be a spectrum, like so many things.

Anyway, I thought I'd send it to you...

Hi @Snowie ...going OK mostly, thanks. I don't do Christmas these days...I usually do the Christmas Day shift at work, but not this year. I've sent all the presents to my family already. So I plan to listen to music, sit outside (if it's sunny) and drink Midori. How about you? I hope it's not too stressful a day for you?

@Anastasia just read your Worry Room thread - yes, I know I shouldn't stray off my own thread at the moment according to psychologist! - and wanted to send you a huge hug and many wishes for strength and comfort...I believe in you ! I hope you can take some time for yourself this 'holiday' season, and time away from work too...sending 💙

Josh Groban is a fantastic singer @NatureLover ... no matter the song. Though I do love that one. And Im not religious. 😄🎄🌷

One of the songs I chose for my Mums funeral last year was You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban. Beautiful song, but it brings tears every time I hear it now.
