Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hi @Maggie , how's your little girl? Is she responding well to the medication?

And how are you coping?

The doctor told me I have bursitis in both my shoulders and maybe frozen shoulders too. She prescribed physio, which I'm nervous about. I have some friends who have had bursitis in their shoulders, and they said they didn't do physio but were prescribed cortisone injections into the shoulder joint after ultrasounds to determine where to stick the needle. So I'm a bit confused. My mum reckons stress has contributed to the bursitis...she's probably right. Stress from the forums (that stress has gone now, don't worry) and from my volunteer job. Can't do much about the stress at the volunteer job, although I've thought of a couple of tiny strategies that might help.

How are your pain levels? I see you have a week of cool weather 🙂 - here too.

Have you heard of Chern'ee Sutton Art? Her work popped up on Facebook - she's an Indigenous artist who uses dots as well as larger circles and images in her artwork. It's bright and colourful...I like it.

No rush to reply if things are tough. I hope you are managing OK...much 💜 to you.

@Eve7 thinking of you with your wrist...thinking that it must be hard to manage things like getting dressed, and cooking...and are you having your family over for Christmas? That might be hard with your wrist... I hope it's healing well and isn't too painful... 💛

Wrist is going ok @NatureLover , it’s just frustrating.

Family all coming for Christmas dinner..I’ve bought a size 40 turkey 🦃 so someone other than me will have to cook it!

What are you doing for Christmas?

❤️💚❤️

Oh gosh @Eve7 ! You are brave, lol... I'm glad the wrist is OK, but yes, it must be frustrating. I hope the Christmas Dinner goes well!

I don't do Christmas these days...it's a relief. Of course I do it for others - I sent all my presents a while ago. Usually I do the Christmas Day shift at my volunteer job, but this year I'm taking it off. If it's sunny I might stay outside all day and treat myself to a Midori.

I wasn’t going to do anything @NatureLover but I’ve gone all out again and even have a real tree which smells divine!

I’ll just sit back and issue instructions on Christmas Day lol

💚💚❤️❤️💚💚

@NatureLover My girl is responding well to her meds. I will just wait till the injection wears off to see if that’s the case. She is really just herself. The real problem is me. 😳😳🤪🤪 I’m getting my head around it better, not jumping at shadows that aren’t there. I’ve hear of dogs that have heart conditions, and last for years, living a good life. They are the things that help at the moment.

We had a massive hail storm here yesterday. Lightening, the works. It was magnificent. I love it when nature puts on a show. Though glad I was inside. The roofs and ground were white for hours. Almost a white Christmas.

Sorry to hear about your shoulders . I have had a frozen shoulder in the past, and it’s very painful. I hope you can find the best treatment for you. I would think it’s stress related. That’s where my aches and pains have originated from. Adrenaline has its uses, but can cause chaos also, eg arthritis etc.

My pain levels are manageable. But the extreme hot or cold is never helpful. It’s a learning process of moving enough, but not too much. Frustrating, but no choice I’m afraid.

I haven’t heard of Chern’ee Sutton, but I will check it out. The indigenous art has hidden messages , so I have read. Spiritual meanings. Beautiful art. Beautiful people.

Thanks for the post. Always good to catch up.

Take care. 💙💙💙💙

@Maggie I've also heard of this. I'm glad your girl is responding well to the meds...how long till the injection wears off?

I also like storms although they can be scary. I hope the hail didn't damage any of your flowers /plants. My nice neighbour gave me a stunning rosebush the other day! My first ever rose - somehow I always thought I wasn't good enough to buy myself such a beautiful item - something I only realised when she gave me the rosebush. She warned me to bring it under cover if it hails.

Is weather like this at the moment, mild weather around 20C, best for your pain levels? I'm glad they are manageable, that's good to hear.

Thanks for understanding about my shoulder pain. I've read that frozen shoulder can last between 1 and 3 years...how long did yours last? I didn't know that adrenaline can cause arthritis 😞

I tend to think I'm doing all right, and then I realise that stress has shown up in my body somewhere...so I don't know if I'm in denial in general, just trying to remain positive, or actually not in touch with myself as I thought I was. 😞 Previously stress has shown up as severe unpredictable asthma for me, so if that's changed to the shoulder pain, then I'm grateful, as I've had too many close calls with the asthma. Strange that I should be grateful for pain! 😮

Glad you are feeling less panicky about your furbaby 🙂 💜
