Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hello dear @NatureLover ... you havent been around for several days now. Just checking that you're okay. Sending love your way.

@Maggie ... sorry to hear you have had to return furbaby to the vet due to her cough. I expect heart failure in dogs is treated much the same as for humans? Humans usually are given tablets to prevent fluid buildup in organs such as lungs. There may possibly be meds which assist the heart to work better and to help with irregular heartbeats. You mentioned that your girl has a heart murmour. I do too, but the cause could be totally different of course. I feel for you Maggie as you strive to make your dear little girl as comfortable and healthy as possible for whatever time she has. I can well imagine how upsetting all this is for you. I also know you will do whats right for your girl if or when the times comes for decision making. Although 10yo for a dog is considered aged, it is not particularly old, especially for small sized dogs. She could be your devoted companion for many years to come. I really hope so.

Hi @Maggie , thank you heaps for visiting with beautiful words

I am so sorry your furbaby still had the cough so you had to take her back to the vet, and that it's now heart related. I saw what Emilia had written below, in my email inbox, and came straight away. I actually visited your thread as I wanted the news...I'm glad the injection worked, and I hope the meds have a good effect.

I remember that you wrote that she is your world, so I know you must be suffering. 💔 Hopefully the meds will ease your burden.

Please tag me in any of your news, as I care for you and want to know how you and your furbaby are doing. If I'm not up to visiting the forums I won't, but I'll get it in my email notifications and at least I will know how to direct my wishes for you at home.

Sending you much 💜 as you adjust to the medication regime for your furbaby.

Hi @Emelia8 ...thanks for visiting and asking how I'm doing and sending love. I have been reading but not up to replying for a few days.

I feel really bruised and battered after work today. I'm being bullied by the CEO's wife...well, she bullies everyone, but I'm not coping well with it, and was in tears today. While the volunteers were away for 7 months she has taken over everything, and the attitude to volunteers has changed, so that we are in the way now...after all, they managed for 7 months without us! It's a real shame. I have been happy there for 12 years, but am not enjoying it at the moment. I hope I can stick it out till times get better, but I'm not feeling much hope on that score, plus I am worried I might have a meltdown at work. (It's happened before, but not for ages.)

In your news...I am so sorry that your psych appt was cancelled 😞 Unfortunately, I understand the desperation to talk to your counsellor and needing advice to make decisions, and they aren't available. I really feel for you 😞 And yes, I visited your thread too (in a limited way). I hope you are coping...sending you many wishes for strength and clarity to know what to do...as well as much 💚.

How are you going? @NatureLover how is the weather for you? Have you been able to go for your daily walks?

Its actually been nice here the past few days but now its suppose to rain on and off for the next week but i dont mind as long as it doesnt flood. Pains and still there but just going to try and get through the next few weeks and then ill see the pain specialist.

Dear @outlander , thanks for your message I'm sorry I haven't been up to replying for a few days. I was thinking of you with the massive storm events in NSW and all that rain...I really hope it didn't flood near you. I'm glad you're booked in to see a pain specialist...I hope it doesn't cost the earth, but it would be much needed I think. Sounds like that's in the new year?

Yes, I've been doing several slow walks a day, it's been great being outside. 🙂

Sending you lots of 💙

Relieved to see you @NatureLover ... I had been worried about you. 😊💕

Really sorry to hear that your volunteer work is bringing you more distress than pleasure right now. Volunteer work should never be like that. And if it is ... you should give serious consideration to leaving. Is there some other similar volunteer work you could find elsewhere? Most places are always looking for good volunteers. And I have absolutely no doubt at all that you would be one of the best volunteers anyone could ever hope to have.

This week I stood down from my volunteer visitor role. It was a hard decision, but in the end it was the right decision to make for the lady whom I have been visiting for the past few years. I have not been able to visit since the week before my surgery, and with radiation therapy coming up, I dont know when I will be able to start to visit her again. So she is being deprived of a regular visitor because I cant make the visits. So I spoke to the volunteer organisation who runs the community visitor scheme ... and told them I was standing down from my role. I asked if they could appoint a new volunteer to visit my old friend. They will try to do so asap. It just wasnt fair of me to hang on in the hope I could visit soon, because it could be months before I am in a position to start again. This is something I have been doing now for 11 years, so I feel kind of at a loose end now. At least the volunteer organisation were understanding of the situation, and told me to notify them when I was ready to start again.

Yes I felt very let down when my psych cancelled my apt for yesterday. There was so much I needed to talk to her about. She could have helped me make some important (possibly life saving) decisions, she could have helped me to see things in a more positive way to make the decision easier. But that wasnt to be, and now its a decision left to me to make, because I dont know when I will get to see my psych again. I cannot blame her .. it was her Dad who died ... of pancreatic cancer ... only 8 weeks after diagnosis. I feel for her, but very selfishly ... I feel for me too.

Honestly @NatureLover ... you dont have to visit my thread. I will tag you with any significant updates. And when I'm in a bad way, I dont usually tag anybody anyway. Take pot luck that someone will come across my posts. 😔 Just saying this because I dont want you searching for news and possibly making your own burnout situation worse with depressing posts around the forums. I want you to rest up and only come here for your own sake and support for now. Take care beautiful. And hello also to @Anastasia @Maggie @outlander @Lilly6

I'm sorry to worry you, @Emelia8 . Thanks for your kind words.

It must have been hard to step down from your volunteer role. I'm sure that lady misses you a lot. You have been doing your role for 11 years, so you would feel the loss of it. 😞
