Numb again

Numb again

I have tried contacting online support but everything is unavailable or offline .

I was raped 7 years ago and things happen so I made myself numb and supprised everything. I learned about the breathing techniques as well as the 5,4,3,2,1 tool. Tonight it's not working . I am having flash backs like crazy and I can't get my mind and body to calm down to relax and sleep . At this stage I am in for a night of night terrors and I can't do that again tonight. I am shutting down again but not sure how to stop it .

Hi @Pollyotter and others here. Sorry I haven't been on this thread much but I'm here now. How are you, are you ok? I'm sorry to hear about you avoiding Mother's Day, and those dates. I'm only 20 so I wouldn't understand but I sympathise with you, my thoughts are with you and everyone else struggling on Mother's Day xx

Re: Numb again

Sorry @Lee82 not trying to make you feel old lol, but @Pollyotter is right, age is just a number.

i don't think you're crazy @Pollyotter , I'm sorry you feel that way. Nice that you're only 8 years older than me haha, well I'll be 21 in November.

@Lee82 I'm sorry those dates are triggering for you. I don't think much of birthdays let alone my own either, I try to enjoy them and other special occasions but it's hard. For me dates like birthdays and anniversaries of loved ones of mines passings are triggering, and days leading up to that.

Christmas can be hard for me. Before Christmas last year when I was speaking to my Psychiatrist, he told me that he was going overseas, I don't know where but he was there for a few weeks, until January.

During Christmas, especially Christmas Day, I was in a bad place because I try to be happy on special events but that year was hard, because of a relative putting heaps of pictures online bragging about their great time with their husbands family, that triggered me too. Then although I was close to this person and they knew most things about me, they blocked me because I was in a bad place mentally.

Anyway long story short, I did a free mindspot course as my psychiatrist suggested, it was ok. I answered one of their questions, about you know, and I put yes because although I didn't do anything, I wasn't in a good space and wasn't thinking clearly. They tried to contact my Psychiatrist many times and even a webchat was trying to which they normally don't do.

I felt so bad and still do, and like I ruined my Psychiatrist's holiday and made him worry which wasn't my intention but I'm sure he's used to it and similar and worse things, it takes a special person to do that job.

The day my Psychiatrist came back from overseas, he made an appointment with me. He was concerned and asked if I was safe, what happened, why on Christmas Day, etc? He even said he was sorry to hear about what happened and that it was rude and unacceptable of that family member to block me for no reason.

Sorry for this long comment, not trying to brag or anything. @outlander tagging you here but we can talk in another thread, I was going to write that to you aswell but I'm tagging you here so I don't need to repeat myself, I hope that's ok
