Numb again

I have tried contacting online support but everything is unavailable or offline .

I was raped 7 years ago and things happen so I made myself numb and supprised everything. I learned about the breathing techniques as well as the 5,4,3,2,1 tool. Tonight it's not working . I am having flash backs like crazy and I can't get my mind and body to calm down to relax and sleep . At this stage I am in for a night of night terrors and I can't do that again tonight. I am shutting down again but not sure how to stop it .

When those thoughts and feelings surface @Pollyotter it is really hard to shake - it affects us both physically and mentally. I understand those feelings and the fear you have - but they are not there Hon - you are safe. Can you make a corner of your place safe for yourself - maybe some cushions/pillows, a comfy blanket or doona and a few things that you love tht you cn look at, touch, smell to ground yourself.

No problems at all @Pollyotter I have been there myself and know how scary it is. I used to curl up in the corner of my loungeroom - on Toby's bed (my dog) and cry until I fell asleep. I also had the support of some amazing people here to help me through. It is not easy to be going through but I get it. Sometimes we need to take back that control by having a soft place to land - snd hsving a corner for just you is a start.
