Numb again

Numb again

I have tried contacting online support but everything is unavailable or offline .

I was raped 7 years ago and things happen so I made myself numb and supprised everything. I learned about the breathing techniques as well as the 5,4,3,2,1 tool. Tonight it's not working . I am having flash backs like crazy and I can't get my mind and body to calm down to relax and sleep . At this stage I am in for a night of night terrors and I can't do that again tonight. I am shutting down again but not sure how to stop it .

Re: Numb again

Thanks @Pollyotter it is a stressful time for all of us.
is this your first session ever with the therapist? It can be stressful first time but just remember they are there to help and this is your first step to recovery. so well done for making that big step. Sometimes that the hardest Part.
First sessions are mainly about getting to know you so shouldn't be too deep. Just take it slow and at a pace you feel comfortable with. You control the sessions. What you feel like sharing or not is in your hands.

It's my first one here. I am originally from South Africa . The therapy that I tried there was like.
Oh but your gay so you deserved it or the best one it's God's way to punish me for being a lesbian. I do how ever hope that this will make the flashbacks and night terrors less because this chick is one chook house short of a crazy nest .

Let's see what happens

Omg that is terrible @Pollyotter I am so sorry that you were treated that way. This day and age you would think its more accepting.
I really do hope you find the help and tools you need to minimise what happens for you. You deserve peace and happiness. 🌹❤️

Re: Numb again

We all have struggles and we all are here to support one another through rough times. The best thing about unloading your struggles here is that we all can understand and relate one way or another. There is no need to feel alone or feel guilty for speaking out. That is all part of healing. People here are a great help and we all know if there is something we cannot handle we will let you know and there will always be another person around the corner for you to lean on. So never feel like you are burdening anyone. Don't stop sharing my sweets. @Pollyotter

Re: Numb again

Hi @Pollyotter

I am so sorry about the experience you had in South Africa - it is awful that you faced such discrimination for being a part of the LGBTQI Community! In this light, it is understandable that you are anxious about seeing a new mental health professional but I can hear at the same time you really need this help - that is a very tough spot to be in! Thus, I genuinely hope this experience is much better for you!

Kindest Regards,

Amour_Et_Psyché

Re: Numb again

Hey @Pollyotter @Lee82 It was lovely reading your interaction here and even lovelier that you 2 have connected Both of you have had some pretty massive struggles but I also hear a real warmth from you both and that is wonderful. Remember our past does not define who we are now and that together we can work through and support each other - and that is the magic of the forum.

@Pollyotter I hope your appointment today went okay and you you are feeling a bit better after it. It is never easy meeting someone knew and starting all over with someone again - so I have everything crossed that it was okay and that you are okay. Thinking of you Hon
