Let's relive the 1980's

Let's relive the 1980's

Hiya everyone!!!!

I loved the 80's and I thought I would start a forum where we can relive our favourite songs. bands, TV shows, movies, fashions, celebrities, world events etc. If I had a time machine I would go back and experience it all, because as they say at the time you don't realise how special it is until it is over.

So if you grew up in the 80's tell us your experiences, what you loved and remembered etc. If you missed the 80's that is fine. we can tell you what it was like, how things were done etc. So please come and join me and reflect on this great decade......

I am going to start off by showing you one of my fav songs from one of my two fav bands (The Beatles being the other one). Still love this song as much as when I first heard it..... written by drummer Roger Taylor inspired by words from his young son.....Radio Ga Ga

Which indecently inspired the name of a current pop star...................

Hello @Appleblossom @eth @Former-Member @Adge @CheerBear @TAB @Bunniekins and all those wonderful people in here! I’m a girl born in 1977 and I love the 80s! Here are some things I remember from that time:

- Perms in hair fashion along with the spike which I had!

- the tv show A Country Practice on Channel 7 which my mum loved

- The Breakfast Club movie

- The Neverending Story movie

- Rollerskates and never being allowed to have a pair until I finally brought my own 4 years ago at 38!

- Having take away very infrequently due to costs and Mum being a great cook

- Pizza Hut and Ollie’s restaurants

- Ice House

- The shops Fosseys, Venture, Coles New World, Wendy’s Restaurants, Just Knits fabric shop, Brashs record store

- Having a VCR and the brand being Akai and it lasting forever after getting repaired endless times

- seeing Disney on Ice at Olympic Park in Melbourne

- Torvill and Dean ice skating duo who my mum loved and saw in Melbourne

- Melbourne Park being originally called Flinders Park where the Aus Open tennis is now

- no road tolls in Melbourne!

- Cinzano Rossi alcohol that my parents loved

- Getting my first pair of glasses at 10 before Harry Potter made them cool!

- the original Donkey Kong game on the hand held games machine

- Commodore 64 and Apple 2e computers

-Starting primary school

- being in Brownies and never doing Girl Guides

- cheering on Fitzroy in the VFL despite them not being a great team with Paul Roos in the team

- chocolate crackles and honey joys as party foods for birthdays

- Attending friends birthdays at McDonalds and the local roller skating rink on a Saturday afternoon

Okay! That’s enough of me for now as my memory is a bit tired! I hope I’ve added some fun memories to the forum post! Enjoy 😊!

Re: Let's relive the 1980's

I love the confession of having big hair @Appleblossom

I think the ozone layer suffered the most in the 80's era as we went through so much hairspray to keep our hair big lol!!!!!
