Re: Sleeping too much

Laying in again, wish I wasn't so lazy, looks nice out the window. A cup of tea would be nice.

Working on a cushion project at the moment. Had some photos burned to fabric for a memory quilt for mum & dad, onw 10x8 panel a Tribute to my daughter, with a beach scene, her face & name (i created on the computer), anyway, right now I'm stitching it to a purple satin cushion cover. It will become my fav cushion. Actually rethinking if white satin & lace might be better background. Breaks my heart that she's...

Coming to terms with how much of her dying just may well have been my fault, a build up of things overlooked, challenges. Thought I was doing the right thing most the time, but she wasn't happy.. Its a hard pill to swallow, my part, but I must, for she died. If only I knew I would have stopped it.

Anyway, back to stitching, love hand sewing material. First need to feed the dog, wild birds & grab a cuppa.

Just saying hi

@Former-Member

Maybe self-blame might be part of trying to come to terms with your situation .... but please hear me with this ..... several of my kids have had close calls at times growing up. If they had crossed over, I would be in your shoes ..... trying to come to terms with what I should or shouldn't have done ....

I did mention that my D2 crosses over for an hour or so on the operating table aged 7months .... they worked hard to bring her back .... but it wasn't their choice .... she came back but she could just as easily not have .... there is no why or wherefore .... in ICU the child next to her passed over .... from the flu ..... what do those parents struggle with ? They were supposed to have done something to prevent their child from catching the flu ??

And teens and pre-teens are deep in baby dragon mode .... they hiss and spit and blame / accuse ..... so if she passed over at that time, you can be left holding all the insecurities that creates in all of us as parents. And we can start to feel guilty about other things we were struggling with at the time, as if we don't have the right to be distracted .... as though a marriage breakdown or dysfunctional relationships with our own parents was wrong to focus on and caused us to drop the ball with whatever our child had issues with ..... @Former-Member it's not your fault ..... it's not your fault. ..... it's not your fault ...... it is the love you have in your heart for your children that makes the greatest impact in your parenting role ..... cos kids have empathy too .... even if they are in a self-centred stage and can only rage at you in their hormonal confusion at the time ...

I do believe one thing whole-heartedly ..... if your J was here right now she would be so distressed for you, seeing you blame yourself and try to find fault with what you were doing at the time, as if it were your dropped ball ..... She would be saying to you "Mum, it was just an accident ..... an accident .... my time to go ...." She would hug you, and thank you for all you gave to her time here - the piano lessons, the basketball, the 120yo house with nature around ..... her guinea pig .... her Claypan ..... and she has left colours in your life ..... purple, teal, blue I think .....

Walking with you @Former-Member ..... your J is in my heart now .... and I'm gonna tell you something else special .... my D2 has your J's name ..... you have mentioned it here before .....

Hugs and hugs .....
Looking for dolphins this morning ..... walking with you .... be strong, be well .... your J needs you to walk on ..... there is more to come for you in your S1's life ..... be there ....
be here ..... you are helping me to walk on ....

@Faith-and-Hope

It is a mystery - why does one child die and another survives - it depends greatly on the indivual - the child - and the strength in that child

I have talked about my son - and my desire to talk about him - and a few months ago I was talking to Life Line - again - and it came to me "Why do I keep telling this story? I just keep telling it - why?"

Because I felt there was more that I could do and hadn't - but telling the story over and over told me something that day - there was no more I could do - and remembering the last day I saw him I told me "There is nothing else I can do for you - you have broken the law and the law says you have to stay (in Juvenile Detention) - and those words are what I found to be the frame around the picture - it was his choice - he made bad choices - and this last choice was the worst choice.

Still hurts

My daughter though - my 7th pregancy - only successful pregnancy - was born too early with an immature liver and nearly died soon after birth - and then again was nearly a cot death a few months later - and it was a freezing cold day - and as I stoked the briquette heater I had her naked inside my clothes and did all I could to get the room warmer - stopping to breathe for her every minute or so - and she came back and I rang my mother and we took her to the doctor -

The memory of that afternoon still rats at me - but she survived

So - @Faith-and-Hope - what you have written does say a lot - and raises again the question of why one child and not the other

Well - my daughter had her Baby Dragon stage - and can still bite - but sometimes I think that she was trying like crazy to get here and I was finding it hard to conceive and hard to stay pregnant and she made it on her 7th try and was bloody well going to stay now she was here - and I am so glad she did

But the adopted child had a totally different story - the fact of his adoption destroyed him - and he was destructive and self-destructive from an early age. So pics in a different site showed what SH looks like that that was him - he did that - I didn't know what he was doing - really - until I joined this forum I had no idea what SH was - only that sometimes people did it - and my son was in emotional pain

He did not have the will to stay - and I have often thought I would not want him to come back to this life in the state he was in - he was so wrecked

Everyone's story is different and I identify with @Former-Member and at her stage in her story with J - and I have been where you have been with a child determined to live - and I know that feeling - though we can never share identical feelings

Sharing my stories here and reading other's stories has been part of my healing over the last months - and I am not alone in the world as I have so often felt.

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope and @Former-Member and others for sharing - it is hard to be alone - and hard to reach out - and wonderful to find other people who have walked this road - which we all walk with our stories - and in the end - all we have is our story

Re: Sleeping too much

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope, your words, attitude, compassion, empathy... ... are so helpful, give me hope etc. With so many people exiting my life since, & my sisters rejection, and unloving mum, and why an all powerful abba father God who has allowed it (failed promises), its easy to self turn on myself (as I interpret others have), thanks again. And sorry for your losses & near losses etc. Nice to share common names 🙂 You know, in of the things I hear my girl say a lot, when she breaks through, is "I'm proud of you mum" or "I really like that" - which is her heart talking I suspect, not the teenage hormones. She doesn't want me in pain I know that. Tears tears here

I can hear the doves cooing outside, Saw my yellow Rosella this morning at feeder % bird bath. Promised myself to do the lawnvtoday, or at least half so, now or never. Not easy with saw rist & last time I put my back out : ( so might need some support later. The clover is getting high. Best go do it, thanks again.

Re: Sleeping too much

@Former-Member ..... 💜💕

Sometimes there has to be some releasing or loosening up of relationships that don't serve us well in order to make room for new ones that are more nurturing and caring and supportive ....

Meet the basic obligations for your family, but leave the way open in your heart and mind for new "family" to find you .... is my suggestion to you .....

Receiving so much love from my own family circles, I always anticipated having an in-law family that would take me to it's heart and live and appreciate me .... and I was decestated that it wasn't so .... I even chased after them a bit to try to work out what I was doing wrong .....

They took that to mean I was a doormat .... so has to take time to sort out that misunderstanding ..... !! ..... then started creating my own "in-law family" from a selection of friends, and gave the newbies the realtionships that were wasted on my in-laws .....

Sometimes it's the other way around .... sometimes it's our birth kin that don't work for us ....

Just think about it .... the way will open ....

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member 😊

@Former-Member - did you mean is anyone going out at my house tonight ?

They were all in last night .... watching loud movies and getting crafty wedding stuff done .... outside my room ... retreated and left them to it cos it was plus a couple of friends and FSIL ....

Not S2 tho ... he was in a rare bad mood and sulking in his room ... cos I didn't get him home from uni early enough in the evening to do his piano practice before my Dad went to bed ....

Tonight D1 and FSIL are out at a friend's birthday, but everyone else has retreated to their own room ... some to bed ... like me 😏 .... just enjoying the quiet.

Nice to see the gentle chatting going on here ...
