Just moved down other end of house so son can play "better" piano.
Love to hear about your exploits in garden .. I guess you have a standard block which still would be heaps more work than mine. I was in garden today ..but need to get secateurs sharpened .. did a botch job on my Peace Rose. It should survive I guess. I cant get HD in everything in life ...
Congrats @Faith-and-Hope on your son .. sometimes teachers hold em back ... sometimes put em under pressure ..good marks do breed confidence... then after a while it becomes tiresome when marks are the only purpose .. which is one reason I had to shift my attention away from teaching for a while ...but I understand the value of exams etc. gives structure etc performance experience etc ..
In a recent rehearsal I was sitting next to a lady who was a counsellor .. we both agreed their might be less need for counsellors if there was more music for the kids to do .. often not so much available in the public system ... your kids are lucky @Faith-and-Hope that they have the benefit of your amazing patience and tolerance ... and so many ways to express themselves.
At the writers group I was introduced to the artist and others from the Darebin Group by a lady who told me she got a HD for her Phd cos I was joking about an old Creative Writing teacher. Sigh ..but still I like her and learn from her ... This painting is Lower Plenty where my grandparents took me to visit an artist uncle .. in a shack with earthen floor ...lol ... if I am blunt .. it was plain filthy .. .. but a child's eyes can overlook so many things....

I'm OK thanks @TAB, @Faith-and-Hope, @Shaz51 - @Former-Member, Just shaking my head with a smile lol. Had to wait for the phone to charge enough to come back on line and fix that 'blasphemous' error lol (how was that for 'perfect' timing - phone going flat? grr). Not to worry.
Love hearing about your mums farm F&H, that was in the beautiful Hunter Valley I think you said? Loved my drive through there recently and down the mountainous Putty Rd, listening to the WhipBirds... ... Must find a farm stay there for hold one day.
@TAB, you was a farmboy hey? If you had friends & or big family - that would have bee fun sometimes maybe. I know your dad was a tyrant but we gotta try pull out the good bits where we can.

Yes father was ok a lot of time, depends on my mood re recollections @Former-Member.. yes done Putty Rd few years ago , wish went other way. Used to read about it iin motorbike magazines late 70s was/is famous re road. Was in Musswellbrook working a few years ago different breed around there they all sound like Paul Hogan and there's a major jail in every 2nd town seems. I loved Robbery Under Arms re book .. so well written I could picture it. Saw a few places named in there on travels

Hi @Appleblossom, good to see you. Maybe we can start a thread called 'In My Garden' or so. Yes, I have a 1/4 acre block (1200m2), really is too big for me to manage and makes me miss the kids but it also gives me a nice place to be, to potter around outside in relative privacy. This morning I watched the neighbours cat laying in the long grass in the shade. She comes over here to get away from her annoying dog bro it seems. Its a ginger cat, particularly love watching her cjace butterflies and little garden lizards. Wish I wasn't allergic to cats, sure would like one. Faithful dog keeps me happy. Hey, are you serious about always getting HDs? Thought you were smart. Gets lonely at the top. My son's the same, but you seem to have more tollerence for the 'neanderthals' ya forced to deal with every day. He's learning, pretty good really.
@Faith-and-Hope, I haven't been tagged by you from any other thread. Um, when you say 'the Art thread' - do you mean Far and Away?

Nah nah ... only a few HDs .. last time I studied (postgrad dip) .. I am cracking up with laughter as I type ... I was so over study .. just coughed up whatever and submitted it .. as I was laying flat on my back to read .. cos of neck etc ... I often didnt proof read .. was busy with son ..and still teaching a lot at home .. averaged H2As .. which i figured .. hey ... whatever .. man .. one of the same lecturers as the writer friend .. but diff uni ..
the main point of that diploma .. was to get me out of house .. he wasnt going anywhere.
and to show son that I had to manage deadlines and expectations and teachers and rules etc ...
as I had worked for self for so long .. he thought I was lucky and just did what I wanted .. I took him to uni a few times.. while he was in his big school refusal period ... he loved the library .. and we both knew music librarian so that was a plus .. just the weird and wonderful way I have tried to get kids raised 
My daughter told me off .. what are you doing in MY(ieHer) uni ..
nothing else to do but laugh about it all .. now ..
I played with thought of going country .. but son did not want to .. so I have tiny block .. so spread out my gardening in my local court.
Garden thread is great idea ..

I think I used it as a bit of a cover for me as a person @TAB
It felt safe after all the S**t I endured but then I had to learn just to be a person .. without a specific role .. that was much scarier than exams for me .. to actually state a personal preference and hope the person would not jeer or run away .. ..for me not to run away with the all the fear flushing blushing and almost stuttering incoherence ... I always had too much going on and so could never find the word I wanted ..
I still often hesitate socially .. and not sure when letting off bombs or just being offhand ...getting better at reading body language .. bit aspie .. but teaching kids and adults privately for 25 years probably taught me .. and it was part-time so I could digest all in teractions ..so I caught up late ... and now I am going out to practise as a big girl in the big wide world.
Which is why typing and the forum have helped me move along socially .. as my fingers work better than my tongue brain connection .. bit of a gold fish ... mouth open .. lol
