Squawk @Former-Member

That is a new therapy - Acceptance Commitment Therapy - I wonder where they think all of these up

btw - I have just found I can make notes to myself on my notebook - so I am putting that down to look up later -

Noticing things without reacting - well - that's a good idea but what happens when you get a call from your mother - you notice a blue fireball in your chest - but it began to fade - you noticed that -

But what about the space in between the call and finding this blue fireball? I am wondering about that

I actually have a pic of that blue fireball

That therapy sounds like a good idea - apparently I am having Cognitive Behaviour Therapy where I replace one bad image with a good one - it is working on the anniversary thing atm - I have done well

Well - they give all these behaviours and therapies a name because they need them to communicate I guess - I must have a look at all of them - I might learn something

I hope that fireball stays gone Tawnz

Re: Sleeping too much

Its really horrible that some mothers think they have the right to be so cutting in their words and ways. So many mixed messages .. which just cut one up and keep feelings all churned up with the confusion of it all.

I took many years to settle after the griefs of my sibs, but I have to say, I was relieved when my mother finally went.

I am getting some clarity about her as I look at some of the videos on avoidant personalities, which fitted my mother very well. She never liked people. Anyone. So I did not need to take it personally, but when it is one's constant reality .. its hard not to be effected by it.

Re: Sleeping too much

You are really right about this @Appleblossom

My mother was into cutting comments for as long as I remember - and it seems she didn't mean it - but this has only come into my consciousness during the events of the last few years

How is a child or young person to know that their mother didn't mean it? Really!! It seems our mothers didn't like people and lacked self-control

Still - in the last 2/3 years of my mother's life she snarled at me to get out - and after a life-time of this - I got out and stayed out as I did a lot through my life-time - after all - if she wanted me gone - I went

But apparently she didn't mean this and no one told me -

Can't change this Apple - I understand this - it's hard on you and your sibs - I have no comprehension into this kind of behaviour at all. We are affected by all of this

I'm so sorry

Night @Faith-and-Hope, rest, thought you were already in Greece, hope the pace is quieter for you there. Xox
@Appleblossom, how are you going? thanks for your empathy, feel the same about my mum, and don't think I'm the only one. Honestly don't think she cares how she hurts people. Damn right about mixed messages grr (still throws me), And shes angry with MH hospital telling my 2Bros (psychosis) that their childhood messed them up & the whole family is 'unbalanced'. She can't see it. Mum lost her live in babysitter when I left home to do nursing at 17, years later I was surprised my two baby brothers told me one of the disturbing things mum did to them (8 & 10yr), was to take her glass eye out and leave it looking at them on the piano, told them not to move because she can still see everything they do while she's out.. I asked why they didn't cover it with something, they said they were too scared to. Dad use to punch into them / us, mum used implements. Some people should never have children. I'm almost done with the sinking ship.

@Decadian, are you ok? thanks for the blue ball face, cute, but yes the right colour. It surprises me the emotional all pain was blue fireball not orange. A lot of people benefit from CBT (challenging thoughts, beliefs), but ACT is more up this latest trend in 'mindfulness' which is pretty much speld out in Russ Harris Bk "happiness trap"

Re: Sleeping too much

My morning tea with one of my girls friends mum went OK until her daughter showed up with another one of my girls school friends, sat and joined UA and took over the conversation. I had all sorts of mixed feelings, rembering the two of them as little girls, mischevous but also sweet and fun. Today one bought me a a gift and my friends had a lovely butterfly broach (knowing how butterflies make me think of my girl). It was nice but sad that my girl wasn't there and I never got to watch her grow into the young lathes they are. All weird. Sorry for rambling. Just trying to process it all, thanks.

Re: Sleeping too much

Not a ramble, but clear and to the point. @Former-Member Glad you got out and bit social, but there is often a mixed bag in a lot of socialisng .. I am trying to learn not to let it hurt and put protective barriers if I can. I would miss you a lot if you stopped .. posting and just being YOU.

My night last night was good and my walk today was cancelled, which was perfect as it lets me process too.

We rescheduled our walk for next week .. and I might have made a new friend irl with whom I can have a fairly balanced give & take.

Cheers Bella

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member

I went back and had another look at the Blue Face - which I found in Free Clip Art - and yes - it is an angry face - oohh - mother yellling until she gets blue in the face - I get that

Don't worry - I was not all that innocent - I had of control over my little brother and would sit beside him at the table and would kick his leg to let him know when to start and when to stop - watching for the signs all the time - I was a little kid fighting back - what else? Guilty of being a little kid obviously

Anyway - that glass eye was a mean trick - of course your little brothers were scared out of their wits - that was a horrible thing to do - not just put the eye where it could "watch" them but just take it out in front of them - what [sound fx - screeeeeeeeeeech]

My Gran used to take her teeth out in front of me which was fascinating but she never tried to eat me with them -

Anyway

Yes - I am okay thanks - the day after tomorrow hasn't got here yet - I have been very sleepy over these last couple of weeks - aw - I can't stand up and walk around 24/7 and the Sleep Police have suggested that I not nap during the day - but if I start walking into the walls I gotta lie down - even sit down - and plan to read and watch TV or both - but I will fall asleep and it is such a good feeling - so pleasant -

Since I have been in the website I have been feeling so much better and the troubling dates less troubling - perhaps the CBT is working since I started seeing my new therapist a few weeks ago

I am glad you are almost done with the sinking ship - apart from the guilt trips other people set snares about and with - it is better to leave - sheesh - we are not rats indeed but even rats leave a sinking ship and they have less cognition than we do. I hope you are okay too

Taking out the glass eye - aw - nasty one
