Re: Sleeping too much

@Appleblossom I wasn't sure what I was going to see when I opened this. It's fine. I can separate and appreciate 'him'. that statement had no effect on me at all. On a personal level, ie he personally, I think in hindsight it was probably selfish of him in a way to have kids, probably same with a lot of people propping up bars in RSLs.. anyway .. yes, very obvious and definite effects re my life, but some siblings turned out ok. Maybe that was why I didn't have children. Yes it can be a very complex thing and affects different people in different ways. He had been through more in two minutes of his life than I have in my entire life and had to deal with things for years on end that I couldnt even start to fathom. And yes have talked to him about different things on the odd occasion over the years. His memories/opinions/ positions change over the years and he is still living with 'stuff' 80 years after the fact. It comes and goes with me, usually depends on my state of mind/how my life is as the time, re my 'take' on things. And I shouldn't have mentioned it. Hopefully I won't mention it again. yes its why I learnt German, why I went in the Army, why I studied what I did at uni. That's how I chose to try and deal with it. Was funny, things used to get heated with attractive female Croatian lecturer doing a subject on the war at uni. She wanted me to to a video interview with him to keep in the Library, as apparently 16 years ago there werent many people in his situation still living. Initially he agreed. I dumbly asked her what I should ask him, she offered no suggestions. All seemed too hard, then I let it go for a year or so and asked him again and he refused, said it brought up too many memories. yet in his 'moments' he can talk proudly and enthusiastically about things, well pre war stuff

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member

I do get it and I seem to have hit the nail on the head - I hope that was helpful

If I were you I would not sell up my space and move where I was in the middle of all those people who have other people to care for them - not in your fragile state. Maybe after your Mar died then you can take a little time to settle your Dad into care somewhere - but you have a couple of siblings who might be snotty but hey - can they not pull a string or two.

My TS likes to run the whole show. I had a dream some time back where I met TS at a family Christmas dinner and I said "Wow - you're here too - do you know the sun will still rise in the east every day if you miss out on something here and there" - But it was just a dream and I wish I could really say that to her - but I guess I never will - it would mean nothing

Ultimately we must all be responsible for ourselves - I learned this a long time ago and as time has passed I manage my life - but I admit if I think about it I feel as if I am sitting in a box of spiders when I think about TS - i reality I think I am a bigger force in her life that she is in mine - she's s control freak and she can't control me

Yes - my sinuses are okay atm - I have a script for antibiotics if I need to get it filled I can - and apart from the session with my friend yesterday when my head started to ache and I took a couple of extra tablets and slept too much - I am okay.

The plumber finally came and took 20 mins to fix the tap in the shower recess - and I told them I had a bath and that it is hard for me to get out of it - but they didn't come for over a week and luckily my agency got them to come - what a relief - next time that happens - and it will - it will be a case of - yes there is a bath but I have a bad spine and risk falling or getting stuck and needing the ambulance to attend to help and that will be embarrassing - Life does go on

Thinking of you Tawney - I know life can be pretty painful at times - and I know about the Christmas stuff - I might get mine out - I have started cleaning the untidy places in the lounge

hugs - Dec

Hi @Shaz51

Are are you going? What's your weather like today - Thursday?

Here we have had a couple of days of summer - well - it's still warm but I woke up to heavy rain and it's still raining heavily - I wondered who ordered that!!!

I hope you are well - I bet you are looking forward to a break at Christmas - has your husband thought up a hobbty for himself yet?

I know it's no good trying to suggest anything - it has to be his idea - ah keeping our fingers out of other people's spare time can be so frustrating

Hello @Decadian xx

thanks for the callout my friend

It is very hot up here 34 degrees , very hot and dry , hope it rains soon

we are having a very slack week this week , we do cleaning and mowing , we had one 2 hours cleaning job this morning and the rest of the day off as all the lawns have turned brown which is very unusual here

we are looking forward to a break at Christmas even though work is very quiet at the moment

Hubby would like to visit his son and family but it is 12 hour drive away and with his MI he could only cope to stay there a few days and it will be very hot there too

My hubby has only 1 hobby which is Photography which has been put aside for a while , love him to start his hobby again one day xx

I am ok, waiting for next week to see the specialist

How are you today xx

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Shaz51

I used to like the heat when I was younger but now I do not - but I know how to keep myself hydrated and safe in hot weather - and the weather in Melbourne is unpredictable - we can get very hot days - several in a row - and with all the rain we have had this spring I am sure we are in for fires this year

I like photography also - I have posted some of my photos here - maybe I could post something different - or send something from my phone that I have yet to process properly -

So it has stopped raining here now but it's cooler than it has been - I will have to check the radar on the internet and see if there is more rain coming before I risk going for a long walk - which would be a good idea - I used to walk in the rain when I was younger also

I am feeling okay today - I hope you are all right too - and I hope you can get away - even with a longish drive

All the best Shaz

Re: Sleeping too much

Glad today is not too bad @Decadian

Hi @Shaz51

@TAB I am glad you responded so fully. It now gives me better appreciation of you .. sometimes it does help to have things spelt out.

On the contrary maybe it was really good that you did mention it.

I was shocked in my U3A when I realised that the polarisation between 2 different music groups was over feelings and memories of WWII .. in that case the German and the Brit .. If things are silenced then they are not properly aired .. and misunderstanding easlity follows.

Take care .. it had a huge effect on you

Re: Sleeping too much

Its fine and mostly not an issue for except for blabbing yest. Funny, I found brits and germans lots mutual respect well with game playing maybe. Lots mutual respect. My father is 'into' the Queen for eg met a few brits who served w Nato in Germany and just stayed there. For a mostly humorless seeming man, he loved British comedy on abc tv.. funny..
