Re: Sleeping too much

Not sure where my determination went @TAB.
The best thing I achieved all day was taking dog & little man on super duper walk.
I rest for bit, let everything else go, but washing..just couldn't get on top of anything.
Coffee didn't even taste good. Kept throwing it out.
Wasn't myself. 😞
Hope the message dealing went ok.
Better be it you, than me!

Re: Sleeping too much

@Former-Member okay so your Get up and Go .. Got Up and Went .. know that feeling .. I just avoided them, and well, at least you did something. I'm just trying not to beat self up. I needed a soft landing in reality, something vaguely familiar re people or company or site, not job sounding horrible and iffy sounding.. well I believed it and played along to 'crunch time'..

..have thrown coffee out before but has to be pretty bad for me to do that.

Having another now. You up for one ??

Re: Sleeping too much

@Former-Member. Thanks for the explanation on why / how EMDR works. I know it worked brilliantly for me. But I never knew how it worked. I'm no good with scientific explanations - so my therapist just explained that it puts the memory into the old memory section of my brain - where old - unused memories are stored, instead of the front memory - where we need to recall things on a daily or hourly basis. But I think you and @Decadian are better with understanding the science. A bit more academic than me.

That is my understanding of it, hehe! @utopia I hope I'm right. I think it's correct. Makes sense to me. 😀

Re: Sleeping too much

@Decadian. I totally forgot to look up pictures of spiders in my area. I didn't notice a tail on the one that tried to jump me. But from what I hear - not sure if old wives tale - is that spiders are inter breeding.
My orb spider out the front is up super high - way out of reach.
I have an outside laundry with only 3 walls - & I'm happy to have the spiders high up the wall. When too many webs, I knock a few apart with my broom. I am going to try that vinegar recipe though.

Re: Sleeping too much

Wonder if these therapists appreciate the amount of trust we give them, that we let them poke around with our sub conscience? Still not sure anyone can be trusted there. My x practiced NLP and sometimes wasn't ethical with it, that I know of. What state are you in Bridget?

Re: Sleeping too much

@Former-Member. Your definition sounds right to me. I've learnt a bit more about my brain since my EMDR treatment and your explanation is spot on. It's just that it wouldn't have made sense to me 14 months ago.
Didn't mean for you to doubt yourself.
My psychologist just knew how to phrase it differently for me - knowing what I could understand at the time.

Re: Sleeping too much

@Former-Member. We do need to put out trust in our therapists. Not easy if you've had trust abused many times by many people.
I was advised what to ask a psychologist with regard to full education, years treated using particular method abd how many successful treatments. But yes, anyone can lie. If you don't feel comfortable with a therapist, there may be a reason. Might mean they are not the right one to treat us.
