Re: Sleeping too much

Hey @Former-Member

Please dont cry on your own ... its like drinking .. best done in moderation and in company.

I have 2 types of tissues atm ... cheapo ones for me and Sorbent Velvet ones for the students. I did not go through many .. but had to have them handy ... cos of both sniffles & tears. Not teaching atm.

You wanna "luxurious & soft & thick" tish ... I am not too bad ... been sleeping and relaxing all day, but thinking of you.

About a year ago just after I first joined Sane forum I did lots of online MI tests by myself just to satisfy my own curiosity. The first online tests I did were in the late 19902 with my IT (information Tech) ex-husband who had a major in psychology (you know .. he also has schizophrenia).

I know according to the criteria I have got the lot ... now even I think I have OCD ...

Definitely a lot of dissociation in me ... how can we not act that way with so many disturbed siblings acting out their dramas as well .. throughout our whole lives.

I read a lot about DID when I was 30 Sybil etc .. ... after I graduated ... before any diagnoses made of me ... my only clear Dx is Major Depression.

Re Dissociation ... Just like the they have discriminated between good and bad stress.

I believe .... (Copyright Apple)

That there is good and bad dissociation. In of itself it is not a pathology ... it can be a sane reaction to insane circumstances ... becoming pathological only when it is not dealt with properly.

Dissociation ... can be very similar to "detachment" which appears in both the Christian (Meister Eckhart) & the Buddhist spiritual traditions. It becomes pathological if we cant integrate the dissociating trigger (eg student leaving) appropriately in our lives.

Eg On the Friday Feast I just posted to @Jacques about an approach I have for distancing after students leave grow up and leave. My 2 teen girl students are doing VCE atm and will go on with their own lives .. but I knew them each for nearly 10 years ...

@Faith-and-Hope I know a couple in the Ukes ... not ukeleles ...

@Former-Member we care ...

Re: Sleeping too much

Sorry guys, had a sleep, wow, deep sleep. Not quite well yet, and its so cold, been raining on & off all day.

I like the Quiz lists because they're more clear about symptoms, in lay terms.

Re: Sleeping too much

Might be worth a new thread @Former-Member cos there might be others with lived experience if you put DiD in the title ....

It used to be known as Multiple Personality Disorder, but I guess DID is more accurate for the spectrum from mild to severe. Perhaps too, considering an awareness of sub-personalities as being normal, it's more the dissociated personalities or personas within the one person that has become the focus .... quite rightly it would seem ....

@Former-Member

Here is a definition of sub-personalities ....

"Stacking dolls provide a visual representation of subpersonalities. A subpersonality is, in transpersonal psychology, a personality mode that kicks in (appears on a temporary basis) to allow a person to cope with certain types of psychosocial situations."

I have read that we generally have around 12 sub-personalities that work together like a bit of a tag-team to manage our daily lives .... driving our emotions and interests, working our relationships, logging our life experiences etc ....

Probably helpful to list some, cos they're quite easily identified by the names they have been assigned with, presumably by researchers in the field .... and I don't think this list is exhaustive .... but it does give you a bit of an idea.

We're not all one or another .... according to this school of thought ... but rather we draw on these sub-personalities to help us make our way .... so again, according to this principle, we can change our inner balance and encourage more positive behaviour patterns in ourselves by identifying and reasoning with our "subs".
