Re: Sleeping too much

An 'English Service' sounds normal! I'm still living in the tissue box but a bit better thanks for asking. Helps to tell someone. Have a good service. Why Saturday?

Re: Sleeping too much

Sunday services are predominantly in Greek ....

Saturday is "Savvato" ... the Sabbath .... Sunday is " Kyriaki" .... literal translation is "the Day of the Lord" - the day of the Resurrection ....

Early Christians began to mark the Resurrection day for church services, distinguishing them from the Jews who still considered them as enemies initially .... changed the Jewish fasting days of the week too, I believe ... but kept the reverence and "rest day" nature if the Sabbath Saturday ....

Thus the weekend has two "holy days" .... both were kept sacred for their special reasons, set in firmly in Christian societies ....

There y'go .... history lesson for the day .... lol .... 😊

Re: Sleeping too much

Hadn't quite seen it that way. With my husbands family being strong 7th Day Adventists (against SUNDAY worship), I was always in conflict about it since, but that sure settles the matter. Thanks. F&H.
You be kind to D3 today, Fridays were the worst with my kids too. Hugz

Re: Sleeping too much

I love Paddy's disastrous day @Former-Member - that sounds pure Irish and how I love the Irish - I was always told to be proud of being Irish - but I have yet to have such an adventure

Maybe because I am half-Irish

@Former-Member - hey

I had a rotten week - but yesterday I had a delivered meal - steamed cod and a variety of vegetables - ah - mashed potato - I dunno why - but it seems as if that might have been the cook's way of pounding a day of frustrations out of her system - but the rest of the vegetables are great. I am a great believer in vegetables and I have a big collection of salad vegies to wash and put away in containters

Late yesterday I saw my Doctor and told him about the thing with the car and the woman yelling at me and shaking her fist and the powerful last word - even though he acknowledged it was dangerous to reverse out - he didn't say much - but he was very kind - I think this guy remembers everything but sometimes doesn't say much and on Friday after a busy week - it's good that he was kind about it

So I feel okay today - I am glad of that - everyone has been so thoughtful through the past week - I so appreciate that -

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member

It was pouring heavy rain the other night so I didn't get around to looking for the lemon tree in the dark - I could do that today - I'm adding it to the list

It's a communal lemon tree - and I have to walk up toward the rear units - we have nine here and 8 of the are in pairs but dotted around in a sort of small park - very private - and pretty - the gardener comes in here every couple of weeks to do the garden and the tree surgeons deal with the bushes - it's really a nice place to live

But we did have 2 lemon trees at my old house and they had spikes - I don't remember the kids having a problem - but one of my cats did

We had some of those birds that swoop and make loud noises at the cats - wattle birds or honey birds I think - and one family nested in one of the spikey lemon trees and thought it was safe

But they would swoop at my cats - and one of them had enough and climbed up the tree with all the spikes - took its time and sat on the nest and relieved itself right into it - ah - I didn't care - I still think 'That's funny - that's revenge - clever cat"

I forget which cat it was now - I had boy cats and girl cats -

My father lost his sight - it look a long time and he had vision on the outside edges - he could find his way around his own house okay - but we had a family funeral interstate and that was hard for him. Cats manage well with disabilities and keep it to themselves - as predators will - my cat had a sudden limp and I took her to uncle vet who told me she had wasted muscles in her shoulder - maybe a bite from another cat had got infected - antibiotics and anti-inflamatories helped and I still massage her shoulders watching now for any wastage - I just didn't notice until the limp got bad

I am sure your kitty with be fine @Former-Member - cats are very clever - but I am sorry she is losing her sight. She knows to stay close to the house though -

Hi @Decadian, yes Paddy's "Sick Note" performed by The Dubliners, would have to be Irish. Don't know why the irish are the brunt of drmeaning jokes - I have a high regard for every Irish person I meet, especially when they start talking. Wish I had the heritage they have.

My dad discovered our forefathers came to Australia as convicts 😞 & as a Philippino stowaway who jumped ship & tied in an insane asylum with cerebral syphilis. Hmm, not much integrity there 😞 lol My mothers side are a mixed bag of English & Mediteranian.

I'd love to visit the British Is & all around there some day, & Italy, & Canada, & Alaska, and Cuba... Dream away.

Re: Sleeping too much

Bit frustrated with myself today. Got up several times to take my pills & find myself back on the couch with a fresh cuppa and no memory of taking pills. Have to go check but worried I'll forget what I'm doing anyway. Do annoying. This has got worse since my daughter died. Thought ot was esrly drmentia but the Psychologist said its more likely the exacerbation of C- PTSD (Dissociative Disorder). Whichever 😕 Labels don't change the symptoms. They said I had Dissociative Disorder in my first breakdown at 26yo (hospitalised 4 times - 2wks, 2wks, 4wks & the big one - 9wks), about 4months that year. Back then Depression was all I accepted, I rejected other labels BPD, DID & Anxiety, because I thought it was the devil trying to curse me & I was advised by well meaning church friends to 'throw that off' don't accept it... along with asthma etc.

Probably open a can of worms having said that, but today, I'm just trying to stay focussed in the now,bin one part, and remember to take my pills.

I did an online test for DID and scored 75 (30+ being the indicator for DID). Not sure what to do with that.

Re: Sleeping too much

Don't worry you much about the Irish @Former-Member ..... 😊 .... they have the most wonderful gift of self-deprecation ..... songs like that are where they're laughing at themselves ..... something we can all learn from ....

Have you seen the movie Leap Year ?

Re: Sleeping too much

Re the DID ..... can your psych help you with that ?

I have looked into DID out of interest .... it follows through on Inner Family Systems really well, in that we all have a set of sub-personalities, according to that psychological model, and it's something I really relate to .... Peaceful Warrior might be my CEO here ....

In any case, from what I understand, DID involves crisis circumstances, usually in early childhood, where sun-personalities are disengaged from each other through trauma, and go on to develop as separate entities, usually not aware on each other, or barely aware of each other, until something brings that awareness into play ....

I have seen videos where people living with DID share a communal journal ..... they introduce themselves and express themselves to each other that way, and co-ordinate their shared life .... but it is something they have psychologist support with. The traumatised sub-personalities still
need to work through issues they are stuck on, and can amalgamate with other sub-personalities as a part of the healing process, apparently.

I am no expert ...

Talking to your psych is probably your first step @Former-Member ..... there might be another situation going on that would give you a similar outcome on the test .... check it out maybe ? At least it can bring a peace of mind to ask the question.
