Re: Sleeping too much
I'm having a super strong expresso with toast in bed. Still waking. Worst nights sleep in ages. Fire is on, cold last night.
Your coffee looks good @Faith-and-Hope.
I'm guessing some of you are at church this morning. Nice sunny day here. 😀💜

Hi @Former-Member and @Faith-and-Hope
I love the floral coffee too - I have to start adding some pics to all of this
And I have eaten all my toast and jam and enjoying my flat-ordinary coffee - feeling better than I have for days - maybe winter is going away - we can hope so
I might even tidy the tables - maybe that's ambitious - but let's sort out the filing at least -
Now the weather is not quite so bitey I have been playing the piano again - I felt my new keyboard was neglected in the other front room - this can be a cold place - but I like it - not the cold but the unit -
Spring is ready to spring - we even have a blossom tree on this block now - has this been one of the worst winters? I am sure all winters are horrible but this was has given me a really tough time
Am I alone with this feeling? - or it is a common factor? Winters in Melbourne are really hard work and I enjoyed great weather in Canberra - having been warned it was cold up there
Dec - enjoying the coffee

Re: Sleeping too much
I love cold weather, but I have really been enjoying the sun when it has broken through and bathed everything in warmth ...
Today I've for a bit of both ....

Hi @Former-Member
After a few rough days I think I am better today - anyway - feeling better - I just hope that I am over whatever bugged me - and it was emotional I think - pain clinic and triggers about my son - aw - that was bleak - Dr. Phil is off my list and that gives me a whole hour in the middle of the day to do something better - different - more interesting.
@Faith-and-Hope
Aw - I can't imagine what the next phase of WH's conditon might be - it sounds as if you are concerned - so I will wait and see - but how great he organised an evening out at the movies
Thanks for telling us about Ben Hur - the Charlton Heston version got right down to the nitty-gritty - of course it seemed to take ages to get through all the suffering but still hit had "grit" - and after Charlton Heston has done a movie it's hard for the other actors to follow up - No one did Planet of the Apes as well as he did - they ran the whole series here back earlier this year -
I will wait until they put the new version up on TV - those old classics were brilliant - and - hey - for really old classics I got 5 DVDs in a pack for $5.00 for the whole lot - and they are mostly in B&W - great photography - great acting - one in particular brought back memories when Mum and I were friends and enjoyed all this - instead of Dr Phil this week I could watch those movies again
Haunting DVD outlets could be fun - I don't just watch a movie - I devour it - I have been a movie fan since I was 8 - we called it the Pitchas remember - I was given a shilling - 10 cents - and was sent off to walk a mile to the pitcha theatre and spent the next 2 -3 hours there - and walked home alone afterwards and in the winter it would be getting dark - no - this was not neglect - all the other kids did the same - but we could not let our kids do that now
Enough of memory lane

Re: Sleeping too much
S2 decided last minute he wasn't coming to the movies .... ticket bought and everything .... cos he had forgotten .... wasn't ready .... was over due a shower cos he had been head down, tail up with assignments - yay ! - and it was all too hard ....
I argued with him gently but WH was close by so I couldn't stress to S2 within his hearing that it was important he come and uphold WH's effort to be family-minded and proactive .... and that we didn't need a blow-up instead ....
WH took over talking to S2 and I braced myself .... no blow-up ..... !!
I took the girls and sat in the car ..... WH took longer .... S1 rand from the cinema asking what was happening cos the movie was due to start and we weren't there .... tx him the receipt so he could pick up the tickets ....
WH came to the car without S2 .... still no blow-up .... girls sat quietly, also braced ....
WH called S2 while I drove .... persisted in asking him to come .... put himself thru a quick shower ..... WH would drop is off and double back to pick him up .... S2 continued to resist .... WH stayed calm ..... !!
S2 finally have way .... girls and I were dropped off .... left WH an S2 tickets with the desk .... and the rest all happened .....
Best part of the movie night ..... ??
Wow.
Still just watching and waiting .... but wow .....
Something is happening .....

Re: Sleeping too much
Hi @BlueBay
I am okay today - I think I am over whatever triggered me into a few bad days - and I am sorry you get migraine too - you have had some bad headaches - before you went to hospital mostly - I really felt for you anyway and the headaches just added to the picture
Since I sent a long post to you during the night I have thought more about the situation with your parents - so it is going through the sorting-out process in my mind - this touches home for me - but time has passed and they have died and I was on good terms with my father so let's say his passing was peaceful and I have good memories
But about my mother - not so easy - I still think about something and want to talk to her about it - explain it - and I can't - and not just because she died but because I never could
So I ask myself - what could help you here? Nothing can change the past - and with both our mothers - could we have ever changed the future?
I never deal in platitudes - so I only get into the nitty-gritty - there is only one thing to do and that is to cry and feel your grief and anger - and I do know - I could not remember all the stuff until she died - it was repressed - which means I didn't know it was there - and so I think you are in a similar situation - it is all down there and eating you up and there is nothing that can be made different because your mother has to change - and she won't - she doesn't see it - it's not that she doesn't care - she doesn't even see it - and this is so hard for you - it was so hard for me
And regrets - um yes - I honestly can say I never did anything to deserve the way she treated me - and I have an idea you have been her victim for whatever reason. I was rebellious - honest and obedient but a little rebel in the cute clothes my Gran sewed for me and hair ribbons - and I drove my mother crazy
And here's the thing - you can't please your mother - so with our help I hope you can see yourself and the decent but damaged person you are - and grow inside - and be who you are meant to be
All of this is a class-room - and we all learn something
Still here thinking of you

Goll-ee @Faith-and-Hope
How do you cope with all of this? - are you still waiting for the other shoe to fall?
It's like a puzzle - all the bits have to go in the right place or it doesn't work -
It would be so easy to make comments that wouldn't help - I am sure you think of these yourself anyway - WH was making an effort for the family - not just himself
I was never as tolerant, never as understanding, did not care about LH's issues - in fact I really don't know what they were
Yet somehow you are holding a family together -
You are "Standing in the need of Prayer" so I will send some

Hi @Appleblossom
It's amazing how differently people think about church - actually I miss it - the service is too early for me to get organised with my back - and this has become a habit - but I miss it
I will never understood why my mother would be dragging me out of bed to go to early church when I was going back later to sing in the choir - and then going to the Youth Group - and she laughed when I said I was a born-again Christian - Heaven help us - I was a Heritage Christian but Born Again???? - shivers - I was told I would grow out of it but instead I grew into it
My church going was working for me - but I got snide comments at times - and when Dad was getting near the end I learned I was The Churchy One. This is so strange - I just don't understand why I was was immersed into the Anglo-Catholic Traditions from an early age and then criticised
I miss church - it is not my problem what other people do about their religious life - but to this day resent the three times a day on Sunday - twice was enough surely - and then to be called The Churchy One
That is seriously weird - I often think - great - I might have bothered other people with "strange" behaviour - but you can't please everyone all the time - I pleased myself and then of course - at least one person was happy

Re: Sleeping too much
It's more that I don't know where this is going ... and I have read and been told that there can be washes backwards and forwards on the borders of the different stages of recovery .... so I don't want to start celebrating these changes and then find the pendulum swinging back hard the other way again ...
We have to be able to keep our balance through all of it .... and although the state of denial is reportedly the hardest, and longest lasting, I am under no illusion that the diagnosis, changes, and recovery process are going to be any sort of picnic either ....
In saying that, if these bits and pieces indicate that WH is surfacing into a more rational state, he might be able to hear reason from medical people, and start to recognise that he is in a bit of a predicament ....
Not only that, but rescuing him before long term physical damage occurs is quite critical.
All we can do is watch and wait, and try to keep everything steady around him.
