Re: Sleeping too much

Well it's raining here now @Former-Member and I feel sluggish too. Doing my usual and avoiding going home. Was thinking about doing some garden but oh well. Really could do with some carrot cake and coffee now. May have to settle for the coffee at home. How is your day progressing?

Re: Sleeping too much

Hey @Appleblossom.
I hope your plans get sorted. I am not good a changing plans or unknown ones. Not sure if you drink coffee but some days it feels like it would be great just to sit around a table having a nag over a cuppa with you all. Anyway I hope your day gets sorted so you can relax a bit.

Hi @Former-Member @Former-Member @Appleblossom

No fin-babies this morning .... but lotsa feather-babies .....

Saw a flock of ducks sitting high up in the branches of a tree a few days ago .... didn't know that can happen .... lol ..... have never seen ducks in trees before ....

Just corrected an auto-correct ....

ducks = sucks .....apparently ..... 😆

I'm going okay. WH leaving again in two weeks. End term for D3 in five weeks. Wedding in eight weeks. Few count-downs on .....

Would like to not go home today @Former-Member .... but D2 can't stay home alone so I'm on call
for that now that my Dad has gone home ....

Can you put on your gardener's hat @Former-Member ? Break things down to get motivated that way perhaps .... even with a physical hat reserved for that role ..... ? Just a thought.

❤

Re: Sleeping too much

Wow @Faith-and-Hope. That timeline you have and and had is really quite massive. It really was a year that you could have done with some help. Really glad you had your walk. What does D2 spend most of her time doing if you don't mind me asking?
Think I'm going to head home, have a cuppa and food and get warm cos the weather has just dropped about 5 degrees and I'm freezing. Think I need a big cup of bug tea. Was feeling a bit sad and sorry for myself but getting over it.

Re: Sleeping too much

Please know I ask that question without judgement @Faith-and-Hope, just curiosity. I still don't know how you juggle everything and know you tend you have full time care of her too. I am in awe 👏🤗😘

Re: Sleeping too much

It's something I have grown in to @Former-Member ...

My first 3 kids were born inside two years, D2 with multiple health problems .... she had open-heart surgery at 7 months. Lost her that day, but they worked to bring her back, so she's a gift .... had trouble in that pregnancy but the twins came through ....

Haemorrhaged in my pregnancy with S2, but he came through it .... don't know how .... with minor heart defect as well ... no trouble with it tho .... and D1 was born with a heart murmer that she outgrew ....

More multi-ring circuses were to come, so you get used to juggling an just soldiering on till you reach the next patch of daylight .... and the daylight does come ....

It has been far from all bad .... we have had amazing experiences alon the way, and met some amazing people as a result, so you've sorta got to take the good with the bad, or the bad with the good probably more so ....

Have gradually just stretched, extended, learned coping strategies and how to take short-cuts along the way .... and te value of sketching in plans ahead for short term, mid term, long term, then just putting one foot in front of the other through the day I'm in ....

D2 has an intellectual and physical disability, but she is bright for her circumstances, which means she is also as bratty as the rest of them .... 😊

She helps with the house, plays piano (two hands, reads music), paints with acrylics, loves jigsaw puzzles, reads .... and gets bounced along with everybody else in a big, busy family ..... a lot of what she does and how we interact with her operates like occupational and speech therapy exercises .... will do more with her / for her when the others are up and off into their own lives.

Re: Sleeping too much

@Faith-and-Hope, sad for you that you don't want to go home, your home. This is do hard for you. Do you have a quiet peaceful corner or garden you can retreat to when the neef arides, sit & hide with the Holy Spirit who loves you, for little breaks with your fav visuals in view. I don't need it now but use to have a spot behind the shed with my white lace furniture & pretty dasies hugging me briefly.
Deep breaths my friend.
I have never seen ducks lol. ducks in trees before either. Maybe there's a threat on ground. snakes out yet? A dog or fox maybe.

Hi @Appleblossom, yes, today is Wednesday, and you're not alone laying in 'till late.
Your brother or someone will get back to you re tonight, chill
What do you mean "my son is camping out in his bed ... day & night .. " ??
My son refuses to help me around the place (gutters, heavy stuff etc) on the basis he "did enough when he lived here" thinks he did everything 😕 Even thinks his sister may not have died if he was here. They don't see things the same as us.
Glad you're at least "Just maintaining" and being aware & gentle with yourself
Wish I had better support to offer you Apple, glad you're here if that helps, there was a time here on the forums when I thought 'that apple has lost her blossom' but not now I know you better & I've grown. You're a big help, especially re grief.
Everyone seems low this week, JUST DO THE BEST YOU CAN - THATS ALL YOU CAN DO.
Hey, just remembered, was it you that was vanishing something up recently? Neef advise. I'm sanding back a lovely chest of draws found at the tip lady week, can you suggest how to go about vanishing it?

Hi @Former-Member, thanks for chatting, We can pretend on the carrot cake and coffee at least, less fattening.
My day is not 'progressing' too well, feel heavy, played in too long and only just now eating. My dad would say "you lazy thing" My mum would say 'get off ya fat ass' - echoes in my head. With self compassion I've learned to be kinder to myself, but also realise laying around too much is not a kindness long-term, so shake a leg, keep sorting, writing, sewing...

The birds really like this light rain here today, singing a fair bit on & off, even came in for a feed while it was raining. Love the birds, trees, nature. Thank you God!

Re: Sleeping too much

Thanks @Former-Member ..., And lovely to hear about your day .... 😊

I am a bit "leaky" today .... what I call
back-wash, but not really feeling down .... just don't want to go home so I can have my own head-space and not absorb everybody else's moods and issues, which is natural for someone who is a strong empath ....
have to disengage sometimes .... which is probably what @Former-Member needs too ....

My S2 has pulled out of that space your son is in recently @Appleblossom .... sometimes they've just got to hibernate for a bit .... the good thing is he's still ticking boxes with core commitments ....

❤

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member, @Faith-and-Hope,

im with you @Former-Member in that my day didn't progress so well either as far as being productive but on the good side no real bad thoughts either. Yes I get the parents in my head too. I hear them with the same thoughts, I'll never match their expectations I'm afraid. I'm hoping tomorrow I can tick some boxes. I did go to my mindfulness class which was quite good. I quite like it.

@Faith-and-Hope Thanks for sharing about your daughter. It gave me an insight as to where she was at. You've obviously done such a wonderful job for her to have lots of interests to pass the time. I wish I could have been leaky today. It does help to reduce the build up. sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who does something and then I learn on here that others do as well. When you wrote about absorbing everyone's mood it was a light bulb moment, I knew I did it but thought I was a real minority with it. Last night a lot of things fell into place for me too at family tea, explanations for why I'm like I am. I came away feeling quite bewildered with my parents, may need some therapy I think to help sort this one.

Hoping tomorrow is better for all of us, it's kind of a blanket wish for everyday really 💜😊💐

Re: Sleeping too much

@Former-Member .....

I think life sort of happens around here .... when the kids were smaller I tried to put structure in place .... but these are bright, arty, sciencey kids .... so enough structure stayed to glue a day together, but we have always been last-minute to school, last minute for homework done, all or nothing half the time ....

Short cuts meant 24hr tracky-daks for us in the early years .... then chuck 'em in the wash, they'll be grand ..... pyjamas happened later.

School days were hunt-the-sock-from-under-the-bed and oh-sh*t-uniforms-didn't-get-thru-the-wash-sponge-off .... more often that's I would like to admit ..... I was my perfectionist MIL's housekeeping nightmare I think .... but y'know what ? I had hygiene sorted well enough. Everyone got fed, even if it was canned soup and Vegemite sandwiches. We had music, art and fun in the house .... and we got by ....

Just thought I would throw tha in in case you pictured me as 50's housewife perfect or something .....

When the going gets tough, you have to find the base-line for the day and achieve that. That's a successful day. If you don't quite tick all the boxes, then it's a good-enough day. If you tick only half the boxes, it's a do-the-rest-tomorrow day. If you don't even get out of bed, but manage to eat something, then it's pyjama day.

My D2 is 26yo .... she picked up the drift of things and got given gifts that supported what she liked to do. She watched her brothers and sisters and learned from them.

It's been baby steps all the way. It's only when you look behind you that you see how far those baby steps have brought you ....

I hope something in this pot pourrie is useful to you ....

Hugs n hugs ..... 🌷💜
