Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member

I wish I had been there too - there is nothiing better than enjoying a good laugh with someone - I think I like that even better than chocolate covered caramels

I read back on this thread for a couple of pages - yes - there is a vast difference between multiple personas and multiply personalities - fine line maybe - but I never thought about it until I started writing - more importantly - reading the forum

I have re-invented myself several times during my life - necessary for having covered so many decades and having my earliest memories tinged by WW2 - it not just a good idea to change - but a bloody good idea - and necessary - after all - we don't want to be children or teens or young always - I want my ideas to suit my age - and by that I mean the time I have lived through as well as how old I am

And the earlier versions of myself - yes - I have to peel the layers back too - I remember someone telling me she was surprised that there was something I didn't know - I grew up surrounded by my academic father and his brothers - I had no idea I knew more than some people - as it turned out I had yet to learn much more

So we were younger once - and as callow as any fellow - I have the years have taught me more than academic issues - a big bite of life and a bug cup of coffee and a little humility and a lot of compassion is a start - I was a little smart-arse once -

Maybe I still am - but I like this version much better than earlier models

It really is time for me to go to bed too - I do not want to wake up at lunchtime tomorrow - that tends to happen if I stay on-line too long

Sleep well

@TAB

I never had the self esteem or support of family to think it worth going to a graduation. ANY graduation.

My family did not speak the vernacular you are fond of. Or the only one who knew it was dead.

I learned the vernacular .. along with boots to the head ... cos I had no dad .. so though I know Aus Kulcha .. and speak with an Aus accent .. I have also suffered EXTREMELY from problems in OZ kulcha ...

My son was also beaten up in PREP by kids who took his book ... and threw it into the mud ..

I was on tuckshop duty and a teacher told me that she thought he couldnt read the book .. but then tested him and he could.

My son and I have worked hard to dumb things done to 3-4 letter words and I think we are doing just fine ... in this land of oppportunity .. where too many of my loved ones are dead.

I am sick of nasty digs ... you have also mentioned to tone down the language ... I have offered friendship .. I would like some respect thanks.

@Appleblossom well, same re esteem, and graduation, my father was in awe at first one, I don't have photos and don't have a copy of my honors thesis as tried to save 10 bucks.

My Father was not born here. English was not his first language. I struggled with identity even tho no outwardly visible and never fitted in at school.

I did have some eye opening moments years later when a recent immigrant(con the bricklayer) who I had worked for before with another guy, went out of his way, drove 20kms to where I was staying, and was just kindness upon kindness. Later he had a falling out with my brother in law who employed him sometimes, and heard all sorts of bad things about him. It did not not affect me. He was possibly the kindest most generous person I ever met.

I won't mention respect, but I do bite at things sometimes.

oh, and Con the bricklayer had his moments when all the world was against him and it was because he was a 'western oriental gentleman' he said some quite unbelievable things re perceived victimisation etc well, I was there, I would say it was paranoia anyway he was a good man.

lala peace out re mud sangas

sorry for neg comments

Re: Sleeping too much

Thank you @TAB I already got that you were 1/2 European ...

my dad took me on his city building sites before he died ..

I went to my mum's graduation tho ?? She felt she deserved it ...

respect can be given by saying some one is a bastard .. its all in the tone .. or the friendly shoulder punch.

Sorry you had it hard with women ... a lot of us are "once bit twice shy" ...

I try not to build barriers but bridges .. between all sorts of divides ...

Re: Sleeping too much

Morning all, sorry bloated thread on where it went re: fake personas...I like models of thought butvdont remember them...I think I make it simple & consider we are all in a drama..each character playing out there role....sometimes we switch roles.
I love theatre, all its eccentricity's, liveliness..wish I had more time to be involved in it. @Apple blossom can you recommend any good reads in this arena?
