It was all by hand. We did it with the kids .. ..early1990s I graduated them from play dough. My mother said I ran a kindergarten not a house, but my nanna and aunt were real potters .. and had wheels .. talk firing temps and slips ..

@Faith-and-Hope is practical .. she simply sticks with the dough ...

for the grown ups

My ex figured he was arty and we should do it. I thought is excessive for the level of artistry but I was also keen to keep family productive & happy. He was talking about setting up his own gallery 10 years ago .. but still talking

@Former-Member my son liked Mulholland Drive ..

first time he watched it .. he said it was not my type of movie

forgot about that ... cos then we watched it together .. I have tended to see

movies playing with the synchronicity meme .. and illusion/reality theme .. special interest of mine .. lol .. it was not one I would ever decide to see without him ..

My little bro was into film .. but that was a long time ago

If you like illusion/reality theme I am very suprised you didn't like Mulholland drive. It is all about trying to get through the illusion/reality and figure out which is which or if there is indeed any of each and there is a lot of symbolism.

But maybe it is too on the extreme side. I thought it was brilliant.

@Former-Member It was ok .. but I am getting long in tooth and seen a few films ... but also super sensitive re violence .. just find the modern movies a bit jagged to watch ..rather than showing me anything new.

@Appleblossom lol your description of my pic is eerily similar to me irl. In that I mask a lot and seem to be on top of everything when I'm so definitely not! Having said that though.. at the moment... about semi perked 😛

It's funny with your description of Mulholland drive it's like we saw two different movies. I would never use your words to even come close to my experience of it. But that to me is part of the brilliance of it, I think you could ask 5 people and get 5 totally different interpretations. Ours are definitely two extremes of the spectrum though and that really does suprise me. In an interesting way mind you, certainly not a negative one.

@Former-Member I get visceral responses to violence on screen but have watched a lot of things as I didnt want my son to watch stuff alone.

My son has great taste .. does his research on films and doesnt want to waste our time ..

so probably you have great taste too ... lol .. dont worry about it ..I dont regret seeing it ..

you are right tho .. each person interprets differently ...

I might have been feeling cranky about America .. ..

@Appleblossom Well considering last year "Mulholland Drive topped BBC Culture’s poll of the greatest films of the 21st Century"... yes I would say your son's suggestion to watch it was a good one. That's a pretty big accolade from the BBC, I think.

Funnily enough I didn't see the violence, although yes it certainly was there, but to me it was incidental to the story behind it. And I really dislike violence. But yes, I guess with a visceral reaction to it, the violence used to propel the hidden narrative would have been hard to see passed.

For me the film was the surreal nature of the story behind it, not the violence. I'd even forgotten the violence.

So I understand the difference in our perception because of your explanation. It's very clear to me now. Thank you very much for taking the time to explain your reaction. 🌷 💐 💗 💕
