Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hi All

There is a thread operating on the Lived Experience Forum under Night Shift where members who are having trouble sleeping for any reason give a bit of a shout-out, to see if there is anyone else sleepless and looking for company. It's been such a great thing, I thought I would start one over here too.

I have had the odd few nights where I have woken up on and off, and my kids have been having a bit of trouble some nights too, depending on what has happened during the day.

Being a carer can be lonely too, so if you are making an after-midnight cup of something hot, and wonder who else might be doing that too, maybe have a look-in here and see if anyone else is about.

Hi need a drink too

Just back from a supposedly feel good movie that triggered me.

Why I am so leary of Hollywood .. tho this movie wasnt trying to be sensationalist. at least not more than trying to elicit sympathy for the young protagonist.

@Faith-and-Hope @Appleblossom @Shaz51

Whew, very late for you @Faith-and-Hope. Great Britain?

I have on and off stretches of trouble sleeping, but try not to go online in case it wakes me up even more. I'm sleeping fairly well at the moment, so enjoying it while it lasts. Our youngest has just started secondary school this week, and has to be up early to catch the school bus, so sleep makes a biiiig difference.

I've found that my "margins" drop badly sometimes. I've been deliberately avoiding a lot of the news about the incident in Melbourne that was responsible for the loss of @Anony18's colleague, because I haven't got the leeway to deal with the details right now. I'm a bit too good at empathy, and need to be functional enough for day to day life.

BTW… I've been wondering what's an appropriate place to post up a helpful link? You know how a lot of sites that have professional level information about health/mental health issues require you to prove that you're a medical health professional before you can view the info? I've found one that lets everyday people sign up. When it's an obscure or disputed condition I'm trying to find out about, sometimes the general public "overview" pages don't cut it.

Oh no @Appleblossom .... ❣

What's your brew ? I'll make one for all of us .... @Shaz51 @Smc ....

I think most of us are on that page re empathy @Smc .... there are some things I just can't read about or watch ... as @Appleblossom is saying right now .... for her it's been a trigger, at other times it's a too-raw too-real empathy where you engender a sense of trauma by "living the experience" by reading about it or watching footage .... one of the hazards of being an empath.

I'm travelling in Greece, at least that's where we're stationed, but we have been all over the place in Europe this time. My WH is an energy ball .... part of the spin-off of his mi .... and we have been ping-ponging around the place for a couple of months. I have a travel thread going, if you're interested in being tagged into it. Along with the e.d. struggle we are living with is coming a wealth of amazing experiences .... bitter-sweet ... but these things are now incredible memories that are helping to cushion us and carry us forward.d

@Faith-and-Hope Thanks for the tag. I checked out the Lived Experience forum last night and had found the thread there, and I've read the blog posts too. As mentioned elsewhere, I stuck with the idea of being a watcher rather than a participator in the discussions.

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hi again @Smc

I have posted e.d. info and links under the "What's new: services, research, technology" discussion topic you will find on the Carer's home page. That would be a good place to put your info links. It means you can refer people there who ask questions that the info can provide answers for.

I know I have mentioned that there are DID threads running on LE forum. You can be a watcher there too without any problem, and there is support info going up there as well.

❤️

@SmcI love how still ife pictures are images that help relax and calm me. I noticed when visiting aged care facilities that they have lots of those types of pics on the wall ... one good thing about the Dutch Golden Age of Painting.

Oh no @Appleblossom *huge hugz*

@Smc - completely understand about being bit too good at empathy and knowing that yourself it is sometimes better to be oblivious knowing the impact it will have on you. Unfortunately for me I am surrounded in an environment where the news is what everyone talks about. It is that "ice-breaker" or the "excitement" for the day. It is something I can handle most days but like any human you have those days where it gets you more down. But I do realise lately I tend to avoid talking about such events further cause some of the opinions my friends have hurt me or saddens me as I hold a very different opinion due to the fact different personality, different views (which is normal) & I know no matter what I say it won't change it....so best to just avoid altogether cause I am not really a nod & agree with you. Hopefully that is the right or shall I say best way to approach such things.
