There is a thread operating on the Lived Experience Forum under Night Shift where members who are having trouble sleeping for any reason give a bit of a shout-out, to see if there is anyone else sleepless and looking for company. It's been such a great thing, I thought I would start one over here too.
I have had the odd few nights where I have woken up on and off, and my kids have been having a bit of trouble some nights too, depending on what has happened during the day.
Being a carer can be lonely too, so if you are making an after-midnight cup of something hot, and wonder who else might be doing that too, maybe have a look-in here and see if anyone else is about.
Have yet to watch Interstellar. On my list amongst so many other things.
Home made ravioli yummmmm. I do love pasta but it fills me up so quickly alright. There is a really good small italian restaurant south of river here that you have to go real early if you like a seat. They don't take bookings but you can buy and takeaway.

Hi
I just had eggs and salad.
Waiting for son to contact. Not sure what is going on. Sad, so sad, numb, uptight, anxious all in one.

Hi
I just had eggs and salad.
I saw Interstellar with my boy. We both enjoyed it. He has done his science education through Hollywood, a bit dubious, but its nice company watching sf together. ..
Waiting for son to contact. Not sure what is going on. Sad, so sad, numb, uptight, anxious all in one. Cant do more than my best, but it is never good enough.
Saw a lady at a local music group on Friday .. she knows I tried. The man I rang at the CAT team said my son was on a good wicket ... and that none of his children would dictate terms to him ... they might try but he would block it. Needing to let it all go ... to much for me right now.

Hi @Appleblossom, sorry your consumed by sadness & made to feel inadequate. Teenagers are so hard. I think its part of cart the apron strings that makes them find fault in us. Shortly after my sister remarried, her 16yo didn't come home from school one day, she was worried sick but he rang her the next day to say he's moved in with his dad. She was crushed, didn't see it coming and didn't trust his dad. It was short lived though, he didn't like being with his dad and came back to her. Sometimes it has little to do with us. Your love for your son is evident. And empty nest pain - thats a hard adjustment - Glad to hear you have some physical support around. I had a crap start today, physical pain, but resting all day in bed seems to be helping. Zero company. Must ring my son but wish he'd initiate more, he loves loves SF movies too, fun. You hang in there Apple, be kind to yourself, you're doing well xix

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
Hey @guys. Not just teens causing angst. My 48 year old married daughter and I just had the row to end all rows. Too much detail to go into but she accused me of something, then contacted my bf and 'bleated' to him. Unfortunately, bf initially believed her. I managed to straighten bf out, he apologized, to the best of his ability. He and I are back on track, my son and daughter not speaking, daughter refuses to speak to any of us. My bf has said when and if daughter contacts him, he will speak, but believes she just needs time and space. For now I have to accept the situation and just wait and see. Meantime, I'm going to get on with my life. I decided I could go one of two ways. I could choose to wallow in self-pity, or give her the space and time she needs to 'come back'. Her father has passed years ago, she was 6. She became difficult after he passed (suicide). She didn't know it was suicide till she was about 11 or 12. From the time she knew he had died, she blamed herself for his death. I told her he was sick, she decided had she been better behaved etc. When I eventually told her he had suicided, she asked what it meant. I explained he was extremely sick and his sort of sickness was such that he decided to go to sleep. We've never really discussed it, bf suggested maybe it's time we did. Daughter and son-in-law are going to N.Z for Christmas. After they return I may try to contact and perhaps set-up a meeting with them and try to settle differences. We never stop loving and nurturing them. Sometimes they unintentionally hurt us when they believe the grass is greener elsewhere. This is when we have to let them go and hope they return. They always seem to, but the heartache from them leaving is painful. I have to believe this is the case with my daughter. To her, at the moment, the grass is greener without me. This is the only way I can accept and keep moving forward, otherwise I'll crumble.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope. Yeah as Forrest Gump says: 'Life is like a box of chocolates'. At the moment though, the chocolates are a flavour I'm not partial to. Just another set-back. I'm okay.
