Something’s not right

Need a little help tonight

Need a little help tonight

I’ve had a pretty terrible last couple of weeks. My husband and I had an argument a couple of weeks ago about something that has affected our (to put it bluntly) sex life - something that is a direct connection to my past CSA. I’m still rattled about it.

This argument happened while I was under a huge amount of stress when my mum was in hospital. Moving forward to now and I have now moved in with my mum now she’s out of hossie as she needs round the clock care. I have managed to convince her Dr to drop one of her medications that was giving her hallucinations and now she is essentially going through withdrawals for the last 2 days and refuses to eat or drink - which is a problem in itself as she is diabetic. Tonight I threatened to put her back in hospital so she did eventually eat 1/2 a sandwich.

Today my husband and I had a couples counseling session - and the session was spent talking about that argument. I had to relive the events of the CSA and describe the feelings that it still brought up in me now. I was crying and shaking - I can still see it all like it happened just yesterday, not 40+years ago.

I used to disassociate a lot when I was a child, and through today’s session I’ve learned that I do it a lot as an adult but in a different way.

Tonight I’m feeling very triggered, I feel very shaky inside, I feel like I can’t breathe deeply, I just want to cry but

most of all I feel extremely frightened. I have a particular vision in my head that I just can’t get out. I had to describe that moment from long ago today and now it won’t leave me alone.

Has anyone had any experiences like this, how did you cope with it? I don’t want to sleep tonight, I’m scared of closing my eyes and only seeing this vision.

Re: Need a little help tonight

@Zoe7 The bird houses sound

like they are coming along nicely, do the kids keep them or will they be placed at the school?

No plans yet for tomorrow. I’ll probably go for a walk in the morning if my head clears enough. I’m nearly finished hand stitching the last block of the quilt I’m doing so I’ll try and finish that I guess.

Looks like mum is making a move so I might call it a night too.

Thankyou for chatting to me tonight and offering your support, I really appreciate it. ❤️❤️

Yes the kids get to take them home @Razzle Some want to paint them and some want to add little perches on so we will do that next week.

It has been my pleasure being here with you Hon - you got through the last couple of hours and happy to keep you company while you did that - well done you

Goodnight sweetheart - hope you sleep well and that headache clears. Will check in with you when I get home from work tomorrow. Loads of love and some mega hugs (non-touching ones of course) for you

Hey @Razzle Checking in with you Hon How are you feeling tonight?

Re: Need a little help tonight

Hi @Zoe7 Didn’t get the pain killer in time last night - full blown migraine. I’m not sure if mum got up during the night, by the time my head stopped pounding and the pain killer finally kicked in I was pretty much comatose the rest of the

night.

Finally got some sunshine today so mum was all up for getting out and about. We went and got a coffee from a cafe this morning, but I pretty much floated through a drug induced haze for the first couple of hours.

Just before I went to bed last night I got another text from my husband - all apologetic saying he had worded his message yesterday morning wrong and didn’t mean it to sound the way I had read it - so I sent back another pretty heated message - didn’t help the

head at all.

I woke up this morning to find I’d had a go at one of the suduko puzzles last night - clearly it didn’t go well which kind of gave me half a chuckle, wow, what a mess - not even going to try and do that one again. I can’t even remember getting the book out.

I also woke to find another apologetic text from my husband which I haven’t responded to. Same $hit different day, always puts his foot in it and then apologises and I’m just supposed to suck it up and move on. Not any

more, it’s too exhausting riding this merry go round.

Head finally cleared this afternoon, although I feel like the side of my head is bruised, that feeling will be gone by tomorrow.

Overall I’m just really tired. Mum asks for fish and chips for tea almost every night, and I always say no because she needs good food and I love my veggies,

but tonight I gave in as I really didn’t feel up to cooking. I’m feeling pretty flat tonight but I think I will sleep better.

How was your day? I’ve been flicking through some of the other threads, I’ve been so absorbed in myself I didn’t realise you had been unwell. I hope you are feeling better today and get the chance to recover more over the weekend.

There is no need to worry about me Hon - hapy to be here supporting you this week as you have definitely needed it @Razzle Sometimes we need to just concentrate on ourselves and our needs and you have needed to concentrate on yourself - all good Hon - infact I am glad it has been all about you because that is what you have needed.

I too love my veggies - having a bowl of steamed veggies right now Have mixed in some tomato and onion, mushrooms and fettucine also so tasty and filling

I was worried that your headache would become a migraine last night - it did not sound at all good. It's a bugger you were feeling the effects of the meds still this morning but you got through the day and even got out for some sunshine and fresh air - all good to do when you are not feeling too good.

I hear you about your husband - there is certainly a pattern emerging that you no longer can deal with or live with. It is a form of emotional abuse when it is consistent and sustained - apologies are only acceptable in my opinion if the person actually gets what the are apologising for and learn from their previous behaviour.

I do hope you can sleep better tonight Hon. I didn't sleep well last night either so hoping for better tonight myself. I am going to be heading to bed a bit later though as I am watching the footy and also want to get some housework done.

Do you have any plans for tomorrow? Hoping very much that you are planning something nice for ourself

Re: Need a little help tonight

@Zoe7 I should have realised I was going to go full blown migraine. I hold in too much stress for too long and then it all finally explodes - usually out through my left eye ball. I get sound and light sensitive, so the traffic noise wasn’t fun last night. I don’t hear anything on the farm, but mum lives on a main highway through town and there are lots of trucks and regular traffic at all hours and it sounds like they are

right next to my head. I had my door closed as much as possible, but ended up putting the spare pillow over my eyes to block the light. Even in pitch black with my eyes shut I can still see lights flicking on and off.

You’re right about the apology, it doesn’t mean much when it’s the same thing over and over.

No plans for tomorrow as yet, it’s supposed to be a nice day so I’ll try and get a bigger walk in. How about you?

Re: Need a little help tonight

I have more fence palings to cut for the birdhouses and a lot of planning to do tomorrow @Razzle I am trying not to feel too overwhelmed by it all tonight - watching footy but my team is losing lol ...we just scored a try so it is all even ...a nail biter lol

Toby is sound asleep next to me - I tried to cut his hair around his eyes earlier but he was wriggling so much I gave up - might have more succes now that he is asleep lol

I hope you can gee a longer walk in tomorrow. It is supposed to be 20 here tomorrow so the grass should be dry enough for me to cut it too - that is the plan anyway - the reality might be a lot different

Re: Need a little help tonight

@Zoe7 Lol, I was thinking AFL until you said a try - now you have completely lost me. I’m a Victorian so I don’t understand rugby at all. Not that

I follow AFL either, and dont get me started on cricket 😏😏

Sounds like you’ll be happy when these bird houses are finished, it has been a lot of work for you.

Its supposed to be around 18 here tomorrow, I can’t wait until summer, I really don’t do well over winter, can’t stand the cold. It feels like it has been a long cold winter this year. Good luck with cutting the grass, I used to do our yard on the farm, it would take ALL day. My mum has very little grass and my brother mows it when it needs it here. She has a nice garden but it is very low maintenance - complete opposite to the farm, I’d hate to think what it looks like at the moment. I think I’d be heart broken if I saw it now.

Re: Need a little help tonight

We lost @Razzle Came down to extra time and sadly we were beaten.

I love my AFL but none on this weekend. My team is in the finals though so will be watching intently next weekend

I have a very small backyard - only takes about half an hour to mow it ...and even less time the front. Getting motivated is another thing though - easier in Summer when it grows quicker and cuts better when it is dry but a nuisance to cut in Winter when it is most often cold and wet. Tomorrow should be a good day for it though.

My parents have a large property too so it takes ages to do theirs. Dad has a ride on mower so that helps but there are many flower beds and edges that have to be mowed around with the smaller mower.

I certainly will be happy when the birdhouses are finished. I have loved watching the kids work together to get them done - they are so cute drilling, gluing and hammering in the nails and working in teams to do all that. I have sat back and watched them - only helping to hold pieces together and pull out nails that have bent too far to save lol They are really enjoying it though - and I have a group of kids that are helping all the others ...keeping one of my more difficult boys out of trouble too which is great for him as well as the rest of the class.

I am going to head off soon Hon - getting really tired. Has your MUm gone to bed yet?
