Making your bed - a little challenge

Making your bed - a little challenge

Hi guys 🙂

I came across an article about 5 reasons for making your bed every day. I've been tackling The Challenge since I first posted this on BB in Feb 2015. I've been asked to start it on here, so feel free to have a go 😉

Anyone else up to the challenge??? Here is the (edited) article ::

If you can't do the little things right, you'll never do the big things right.

1. Making your bed is a small task, but once completed, the sense of accomplishment helps you get more little things done during the day.

2. Creates an oasis to relax in when you come home. It's the one area you have control over. Pack away clothing, fluff the pillows....

3. Sets a good example for children. Easier to get them to tidy their rooms if yours is tidy.

4. Once established as a good habit, it may encourage you to start other good habits. Packing clothes away, opening curtains. This may lead you to other little tasks in other areas of the house.

5. Keeping it clean. Messy bedding can make a bedroom look untidy and unclean. With a made up bed, your bedroom will be more inviting at the end of the day.

So are you ready for your life-changing experience? When you think that making your bed takes approximately 3 minutes, it's at least worth giving it a go. Try it for a week and see if you feel like you're achieving something every morning, and whether it leads to other accomplishments - no matter how small !

Great stuff, Bells!

I have a running start... my OCD leads me to lean towards neat and tidy... hahaha...

There are other areas where I can challenge myself, though... 🙂

Hi @BlueBells, so cool you have started this here at SANE. 🙂

I've found it so true that just making the bed is a great step towards getting a grip on a whole lot of other stuff. This was especially true when I was in a big hole of depression and really hadn't been making the bed or anything much else at all for a long time. How it fed into my depression to contemplate the mess of my life and feel too overwhelmed to do anything with it all. Just taking a few small steps, one of them making the bed, started to lift me out of that hole in my daily life and set me on a road to a much improved quality of life, inside and out.

I hope that others here who struggle to find motivation when facing the big picture of their lives might take on the challenge of doing just this one small thing.

I became determined to keep the table clear too 🙂

Hi Tawney 🙂

Now, I think I do this : @Former-Member to notify you (I noticed your comment in Night Shift 😄 ) I too can feel rejected easily, even though I know it is screwed up thinking/feeling.

Since I started the thread, with the exception of washing sheets a few times, I've kept the bed going, but some mornings a real struggle hahaha

Sink....still a battle, but working on it 😉 Table...now and then I find it :D:D

Hugs 🙂 🙂 🙂

Hi @BlueBells, @Former-Member,

Bed made today. Took me a few hours to get to it but yay it's done. Kitchen is the looming one for me next but I'm getting out for a walk before I get to that. Bathroom, that's getting to be a sad story but will get done at some point, hopefully before it depresses me too much!

Hi there @Former-Member and @Mazarita 🙂

How are you two going with beds and table etc?

I keep the bed straight, but...struggling with the dishes......and the table likes to keep itself out of sight 😄 😄 😄

Hugs 🙂 🙂 🙂

Re: Making your bed - a little challenge

Hey @BlueBells,

Bed is going very well on the making, not so good on the sheet changing. No table in this small flat, we eat on chairs so we can have computer desks in the room instead. Bathroom has had a slight improvement but haven't done it properly yet. Dishes are behind on the rent.

Hugs your way for no reason whatsoever other than I dig you!!

Hi Mazarita 🙂

I try to get the sheets washed once a week, but lucky to actually happen once a month 🙂

I keep up well with the childrens beds, though. The day after they leave, sheets and slips changed/washed 😉

I've lost the sink again, though 😞

Hugs to you, too, and thanks 😉 🙂 🙂 🙂
