Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Well hello to anyone who's discovered this new thread .... and welcome!!!

For some time I've noticed things are a bit quiet on a Saturday, especially in the evening. So this will be a social gathering for all forumites and hopefully a place to relax and meet friends. It's also a place where you can talk about whatever's going on for you at the moment, safely, and find support.

If you want to bring something to eat or drink that would be welcome, whatever makes you happy.

Actually that may be a good place to start - jump in anywhere and let us know one thing that makes you happy - currently or over time.

Really looking forward to finding a posse to hang with on a Saturday.

L E T ' S P A R T Y !!!

And of course the beverage of your choice.

EDIT : Do feel free to contribute some music too. Of any style. The more the merrier ...

Hello Everyone

Being Just after 4.30 pm here, I can still wish everyone a Good Afternoon, though it's probably more a Good Evening in most places of Australia.

@StuF , I share your concerns about missing people in tags, inappropriate or unwanted tags, and other issues.

  • I attempt to include the people who have been most recently active on the thread.
  • We also have the opportunity to invite people into threads by tagging. I have lists of tags that are like tangled fishing line, that it would take me ages to sort.
  • So I often just start from scratch again.
  • I do believe that we all share those reservations and concerns to some degree.
  • I also take it as a compliment and, or invitation when I have been tagged in an area in which I have expressed interest or someone has felt that I might be interested.
  • I prefer to tag and include all the messages to each of the tagged members in one note, if possible, so that people are not scrolling through umpteen individually addressed messages from me to other members.
  • This is normally in threads, other than those where there is likely to be to-and-from responses in conversation.
  • It is really a matter of judgement on what is most appropriate.
  • However, in defference to others, I try to condense messages as much as I can.
  • People can always check a tagged message and read or pass as they wish.

@Meggle has drawn a conversation with me to another less active thread when our conversation became more in-depth than would otherwise have seemed to be appropriate on the original thread. This is a courtesy to other members on the thread.

When I was in discussion with a distressed member, if I recall, I made a similar move.

In these ways, we can, to some degree, streamline the message activity, particularly on busy threads.

Any other thoughts?

With Best Wishes

HenryX

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Hi @HenryX

I find you to be a very thoughtful forum user. Sometimes I think we all just overthink things though. I find it hard to remember who to tag if tagging a bunch of users without writing a list. This takes time and then I worry about leaving people out. I love to be tagged personally. I am always keen to see a new mention in my new notifications. I am on these forums maybe too much. However since I became involved here I have noticed that I am in fact in a happier frame of mind and feeling a little better. Maybe less lonely although I still crave friends in the physical sense.

I guess I am saying let's all stop over thinking the etiquette side of things and just be a bit more impulsive about how we respond.
