Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Well hello to anyone who's discovered this new thread .... and welcome!!!

For some time I've noticed things are a bit quiet on a Saturday, especially in the evening. So this will be a social gathering for all forumites and hopefully a place to relax and meet friends. It's also a place where you can talk about whatever's going on for you at the moment, safely, and find support.

If you want to bring something to eat or drink that would be welcome, whatever makes you happy.

Actually that may be a good place to start - jump in anywhere and let us know one thing that makes you happy - currently or over time.

Really looking forward to finding a posse to hang with on a Saturday.

L E T ' S P A R T Y !!!

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Hey @Former-Member we've just got the one avo tree here and most years it produces prolifically. But I think they do take a long time before they first fruit. Store bought ones just don't taste as creamy but you'll just have to make do with them for now. Our tree is thought to be 80 to 100 years old - it's massive. My cabin is under it. It's deciduous so I get shade in summer and afternoon sun in winter when it has shed it's leaves. I love it.

Aint it nice when Saturday soirees morph into Sundays ...

lol

Have lamb shanks and chick peas on with tikka in the slow cook.

eth your food forays are inspiring. SO much on the net these days and with so many foods and cultures to draw from ... being in the kitchen can be a delight. ... (tho mindful its often hard yakka too ... depends on circs).

My other job is to get this miracle internet thingo sorted ... still ping pong ... yadda yadda back and forth with telco.

Cheers ALL

@Appleblossom ... lamb shanks ... yes. I made slow cooked lamb shanks for dinner yesterday. It was good too. Meat just fell off the bone. I'm sure yours will be yummy ... I like chick peas and tikka flavours.

Miracle internet thingo? Ping pong I understand. I have had more than my fair share of issues with telco.

Cheers to you too. And anyone else who drop in here this morphed Saturday. Lol.

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Hey @Appleblossom and @Former-Member looks like I might have missed you while I was watching some British crime on iview. Hope you get your i'net sorted Apple. When I'm not feeling too flat to even do it cooking to share with people is one of my favourite pastimes. I love spending time finding new and interesting recipes, the planning and the doing of it, but especially getting to eat with others. I'm really slack when it comes to just feeding myself (most nights). It's often freezer to mini-oven or microwave, but when I do a feed to share I make sure there are leftovers most times. Last night was a hit and it was all polished off. Sil just told me we're going to have a bbq tonight - I'll make some sweet potato wedges and I have some vego sausages so they can have their lamb cutlets. I don't really enjoy lamb (or pork). I'm not really a vego coz I eat seafood, chicken and lean red meat, but usually only socially. These days if I'm asked I just say I'm fussy - people don't seem to need an explanation or justification for that!

Hope you're both having a peaceful afternoon. Catch you soon - perhaps over on A Long Rave in the next day or two. Take care xx

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Yes @eth ... I'm much the same. I am not good at day to day cooking, or cooking for one. Although I quite enjoy cooking for several people. Your cooking always sounds so interesting and truly yummy. Clearly you are a good cook and one willing to experiment with ingredients and flavours. If I'm here on my own (which hasnt happened in a couple of years now that hubby is not travelling or in hospital) I'm very happy to grab a frozen meal out of the freezer. And mostly they are really pretty good. But hubby turns his nose up at anything easy. Grrrr ...

Interesting that you only have one avo tree, which sounds a real beauty too. Maybe I wont give up on mine just yet. Not sure how old it is, but its much the same now as it was 11 years ago when we moved here. I will say that we have a wonderful persimmon tree ... and it produces prodigious amounts of fruit every year. Even with all the parrots, crows, and bats around ... there is always enough to share.

Yes thanks ... having a peaceful afternoon. Although hubby has a friend over now for drinks. 😵
