Failed ECT

Failed ECT

I've had electro shock therapy as a final resort after a failed suicide attempt.

The ECT isn't working. Should I just throw the towel in.

Re: Failed ECT

@Jennifer_waugh PS I think you are never too old. I'm in my 50s and Mum is 75 and has gone back to work 3 days a week as well as caring for a few people. Even if it's just a new activity. I also read fiction to take my mind off everything and sometimes do adult colouring books - another form of mindfulness.
You haven't answered for a while. Are you finding out input or just the sharing helpful at all?

Just had a d'uh moment - joining these forums IS a new activity. Hope we can give you hope.

@eth - @Jennifer_waugh answered perhaps while you were typing.

Jennifer, if all we have is us, we have to be on our own side. Please, reach out and tell us a bit about yourself. Just start writing, doesn't matter what you say - tell us about you if you can. It might help, eh?

Re: Failed ECT

Hi @Jennifer_waugh, this is Shimmer, one of the SANE moderators.

I can hear that you are going through an extremely difficult time at the moment. As @MoonGal and @eth have said, we’re here for you.

There have been a couple of your posts that we have been unable to publish due to being potentially triggering for others. You mentioned in one of them that you are looking for alternative treatments. It sounds like part of you feels hopeless and sees suicide as an option, while another part of you hopes for something else that could help you feel better. Is that right?

Re: Failed ECT

@Jennifer_waugh sometimes telling more of your story helps you - just getting it out. It would also help us to respond more. You might find some of us share your life experiences and we can talk about your and our journeys.

Re: Failed ECT

@eth, @Shimmer - glad you are here.

Forum rules means we have to be careful how we word some things @Jennifer_waugh, methods of self harm, for example are not allowed , but saying "I feel like self harming" is. We do have to watch out for one another not to go tripping each other into a bad moment. It is tricky but we can write about it if we find ways of saying things that also look after each ohter.

I'm back again after some peaceful hours away from the computer. How are you going @Jennifer_waugh? I'll be here for a while if you want to talk. Glad to hear you had a better and productive day @MoonGal.

Re: Failed ECT

Thanks guys for your kindeness.

I'm very lost and I hate my degree. I want to move interstate to study but don't know if it's worth the risk. My friends don't understand what it's like to feel so awful all the time.
