Learning to live (and be myself) again

Learning to live (and be myself) again

I've been through some major highs and lows since i recieved my diagnosis. And by highs and lows i mean stages of good and bad health. Stages of working and unemployment. Bouts of depression and anxiety on a daily basis....I've had all sorts of stuff going on basically.

Re: Learning to live (and be myself) again

@Sophia1 I've worked out i am better off being the diagnosis and being the side effects and just shutting my mouth about it. Rather then complaining to them about it and getting the 'perform like a monkey in the circus treatment '

Re: Learning to live (and be myself) again

Hello @eudemonism

At the end of the day we all have to do what we feel is best for ourselves....

varying circumstances for all..

Feeling that you need to keep quiet and perform like a monkey in the circus does not sit comfortably with me at all..

I have had to stand up for my rights and question many things during my life..

One characteristic that I do possess is persistence..

If someone is not listening to me or hearing me and my needs are not being met..I do try to relate my concerns using different wording...

I understand your reluctance to try someone new as you have been dealing with this for so long now..

I just do not like to think of you giving up on yourself...

You are my friend and I wish the best for you..

Please look after yourself Eude.

Sophia 💚

@Sophia1 @Meowmy @MDT @Maggie @eth

Yea just looking for some feedback and advice. Here's my scenario.

Do you think life is a case of constantly moving forward from one goal to the next?

Eude

I personally don't @eudemonism Sometimes just living in the moment, in the day can bring us just as much happiness - and we all need to find that happiness where we can. Whilst it is good to have goals we also need to appreciate the here and now and enjoy what we are doing in the present.

Both @eudemonism

Not that I have moved onto the next goal I think I will take it as it comes now.

Life is a mix of both moving forward to the next goal and also taking it day by day.

@Zoe7 is right too I agree with her

Re: Learning to live (and be myself) again

An interesting question @eudemonism

Life is actually a case of moving forward constantly if we consider time

as for goals that is a different scenario

we have a choice of what goals we aim for and can break them down into achievable parts..

as for being right or wrong

goals are a good idea for some and yet in other cultures do not exist..

I prefer to ask the question "what do you think is right for you"?

@eudemonism Hey, I think , life could be a long journey, so along the way, there will be issues.

Re: Learning to live (and be myself) again

Yea I'm hearing you @Zoe7 it's just that if i put a few urges to achieve goals the side. I quickly get caught up in analysis paralysis and focusing on the problem and also feeling like i need to reach out for support. What you're saying is very true . It is important to be able to live in the moment when it's called for .

Re: Learning to live (and be myself) again

@MDT you know that phrase . 'I got side tracked '? That's kind of what it's like. Think one thing and do another .

Re: Learning to live (and be myself) again

It is still great to have goals @eudemonism but I think we often get caught up in reaching them in a timeline that doesn't always fit with our reality. One thing my pdoc and I have been talking about is just that - having goals for the future but not discussing them just yet as I am still working on getting through work and knwoing that at the moment that is all I can mentally and physically achieve. My only goal over the next few months is to get back to the beach with Toby - it msy seem a simple thing to some but for me it is huge. Sometimes the simple things are hard for us so having small achievable goals is important.
