My child left her old school due to bullying & exclusion- she started a new school & the new school is aware of this-

I dropped my child off at school today for her third day at the new school & when She got to her desk - which is a double desk - seating two children- the girl sitting next to her had picked up her work pencil case , drink & snack & moved her chair from her position sitting next to my daughter & had set up her seat on the very end of the table & was sitting there doing her work with her dad standing behind her & her brother next to her,she was doing her work as if nothing had happened-

Nothing was mentioned about this very obvious move away from my daughter.

The teacher was in the room & it was full if parents & students-

This sent a pretty clear message to myself that she doesn't like my child/ or doesn't want to sit next to my child-

i had a very Strong reaction started getting anxiety badly & felt very sad & upset & angry-I can only imagine my daughter had a very Strong reaction also-because it did not look nice & it did not feel nice.

this is my daughters THIRD DAY at this school-

I was speaking to the teacher about other issues & nothing was mentioned about the move-

we left to go to assembly & my daughter started panicking & getting upset saying I'm worried I won't have anyone to sit next to or play with - it appeared she had anxiety after seeing the girl move seats.

I don't know wether I should call the school & check on her or not because every single time I tried to talk about problems with the old school it made the situation worse escalated things & did not resolve anything. Iv been having anxiety & crying ever since I left her & I feel like just going & picking her up early.

Am I overreacting?? Or should I ring the school to check & see if she is ok? I don't want to cause problems or be labeled as a problem parent at this school- like I was at the last school for sticking up for & advocating for my child 😭😭😭😭

Re: Please Help

@Serenity1 its ok you havent upset me. I tend to have strong opinions and i was more concerned that i had upset you. It is very hard to deal with truama especially when we arent fully aware of how it is affecting us. have you had any luck finding someone to support you professional wise?

Re: Please Help

Please don't think that there is anything wrong with reacting to situations based on your past experience @Serenity1 because there isn't. We all make decisions based on what we have lived through and what we know. Going and finding help to navigate your feelings and thoughts through these situations is incredibly self-aware and strong. Do you have any medical professional that you have trusted more than anyone else?

Interesting to know that you had a gut instinct that something was going to happen, you definitely have a strong supportive mum sense!

Re: Please Help

@Serenity1 I am glad things have settled a little with your daughter at school. Its not so much interesting ... as I can relate in lots of ways to your story. Deeply. Keeping emotional balance with the observations we make about the situations we are in ... is so difficult when ... trauma is raw. Observations may not be wrong ... but its the intensity of the feelings that get things going pear shaped ... but then thats not something easily controlled ... trauma is about intense feelings.

Take Care of you and your girl. I will be online less, gotta take care of me. Dont take it personally.

I am so glad you and @Eden1919 were able to talk out... about being triggered.

It is good for you both and good for us in the community. We are all effected by misunderstundings, and mostly want the best for everyone.

Hugs to both of you.

Re: Please Help

@Eden1919 - Thankyou- yes I'm becoming more aware each day how trauma from abuse is impacting my every move, thought & action- I have been seeing a counsellor with the ten free sessions- but she is not very helpful- as when I try & talk to her about things- she takes over -talks over the top of me-& starts talking to me about stories about her& her children- or world events- which neither are relevant to what I am talking about- the stories literally have nothing to do with what I am trying to get help with-she is an older lady- quite old & she tends to tell the same stories over & over again and when I tell her-"yes you have told me that already "- she doesn't take the hint/ clue & stop the story- She continues to tell me all over again eating into our time which is only 50minutes- & I become frustrated & walk away feeling that the time was not well spent-in fact wasted.
I get the impression she likes talking about her stories more than listening and trying to offer help- or I thought she was just forgetting/ getting confused because she is older- but I keep reminding her & she ignores me so- unfortunately I just think she likes the sound of her own voice & telling her stories is the impression I get- now my ten sessions are almost up for the year & I feel I have wasted them

Re: Please Help

@Ali11 Thankyou- except I don't feel I can trust my interpretation of things at the moment as I feel I am reading them all wrong & making a complete mess of everything I am faced with as a result of past abuse & trauma-
I don't have any medical professionals that I trust- as I feel my GP spoke behind my back with the ex principal & she threatened me - now I don't trust her- but feel I have to keep seeing her as she has written on my application for NDIS- so I feel I have to stay with her while that is going through because they will need to contact her- I have a counsellor who is not very helpful or supportive & are almost out of my ten free sessions.

Re: Please Help

That sounds difficult @Serenity1, what do you normally do when your 10 sessions are up?

Re: Please Help

I have been doing nothing- isolating myself due to agoraphobia & cptsd- there is nothing else that you can do that I'm aware of @Ali11

Re: Please Help

@Serenity1 that is frustrating about the counsellor. perhaps try looking for a different one. even if you dont see them until next year but it can take time to find someone so maybe looking eairler would be better. but that isnt a easy thing to do. have you looked into the adult mental health community teams? they are pretty hit or miss but if money is an issue then they would at least give you a case worker who you could see maybe weekly or fortnightly at no cost. but they can be difficult to get into.

Re: Please Help

@JoJo73 Hearing you about the lady liking the sound of her voice and recycling stories without listening. It is frustrating moving from counsellor to counsellor trying to find a good fit, a waste of time when time is so important when parenting during childhood. I wasted a lot of time hoping and hoping and trying and trying. We cant get back those years.

I have just had a beautiful community music weekend so I will try not to get down. Gotta keep my vibe positive. I can get angry about these things too, but then I dive bomb.

Hugs
