My child left her old school due to bullying & exclusion- she started a new school & the new school is aware of this-

I dropped my child off at school today for her third day at the new school & when She got to her desk - which is a double desk - seating two children- the girl sitting next to her had picked up her work pencil case , drink & snack & moved her chair from her position sitting next to my daughter & had set up her seat on the very end of the table & was sitting there doing her work with her dad standing behind her & her brother next to her,she was doing her work as if nothing had happened-

Nothing was mentioned about this very obvious move away from my daughter.

The teacher was in the room & it was full if parents & students-

This sent a pretty clear message to myself that she doesn't like my child/ or doesn't want to sit next to my child-

i had a very Strong reaction started getting anxiety badly & felt very sad & upset & angry-I can only imagine my daughter had a very Strong reaction also-because it did not look nice & it did not feel nice.

this is my daughters THIRD DAY at this school-

I was speaking to the teacher about other issues & nothing was mentioned about the move-

we left to go to assembly & my daughter started panicking & getting upset saying I'm worried I won't have anyone to sit next to or play with - it appeared she had anxiety after seeing the girl move seats.

I don't know wether I should call the school & check on her or not because every single time I tried to talk about problems with the old school it made the situation worse escalated things & did not resolve anything. Iv been having anxiety & crying ever since I left her & I feel like just going & picking her up early.

Am I overreacting?? Or should I ring the school to check & see if she is ok? I don't want to cause problems or be labeled as a problem parent at this school- like I was at the last school for sticking up for & advocating for my child 😭😭😭😭

Re: Please Help

@Ali11 thanks- but she was very fazed by it when she initially saw it yesterday- it appeared to me that she had anxiety as a direct result of seeing this- as she started panicking & saying she is worried she won't have anyone to sit next to or play with- which she had not said at all previously until she saw the seat move- I had to calm her down & reassure her- when I picked her up from school she was not fazed- I'm geussing because the teacher has moved the U-Shaped table & pushed the centre table down to Indi's end so indi is not sitting in isolation- but the girl who has moved is now not sitting next to anyone- so from what I can tell this morning- even the teacher thought it was a harsh move & fixed it so the new child was not completely isolated

Re: Please Help

Thanks-
I feel Two days is not a long time for any new student- child/ or adult-adjusting to a new school & class environment-that's my entire point - two days to a new student, my daughter is nothing-my point is my daughter was left in isolation on her third day at a new school- I know you are trying to get me to see from the other kids side- but I think you are not seeing from my daughters side & how this has impacted her & I -& the other parents & students observing this & how that factors into her integration into a new school & making new friends- especially!! When she just left a school literally for bullying & isolation!
Anyway I think I am not explaining myself properly through txt- or your not understanding where I am coming from-
My whole concern is my daughter was left sitting in isolation on her third day at a new school which is unpleasant & really does not give a good impression- regardless of why the girl moved it is inconsiderate & unthoughtful to leave a new student sitting alone.! That's all.
It seems the teacher has had the same thoughts as I have because today when I entered the room she had moved the U shaped table- she moved the centre piece down to my daughters end so that my daughter is now sitting next to someone & the girl that moved is not sitting next to anyone-so the new child who is anxious, nervous & does not have established connections & friendships has not been left sitting in isolation- very obviously for everyone to see- which I know would be hard for me to deal with as an adult if I was in a classroom environment & this happened to me without discussion- let alone a 7 year old girl.
So I did not have to even speak to the teacher- as clearly she has felt the same way by moving the table so the new child of two days is not sitting in isolation- which makes total sense for anyone who cares about others feelings- & that is why I was so upset-
Thanks for your feedback

@Serenity1

Personally I find your posts very interesting as I experienced a lot of school disruption during the same years as your girl. Now, I wish my mother had been concerned re my welfare and not just trying to get rid of me to school.

I am glad you think the teacher is being sensitive. Sometimes things take time to settle.

Re: Please Help

@Serenity1 I didn’t mean to seem like I was ignoring your child’s feelings and yes while I am sure it was upsetting I guess I just disagree with what you seem to think were the intentions of the other child moving. She is still sitting alone so it makes me think she doesn’t want to sit next to anyone in the class and yes it was good of the teacher to restructure the seating in the class but I just don’t believe the other child was deliberately trying to upset your daughter. I am not saying she didn’t upset her more that I doubt that was her intention. But I wasn’t there so a lot of context could be missing from my point of view sorry if I have upset you I didn’t mean to but do believe there has been a misunderstanding. I will stop posting on this thread after this post. Good luck with everything.

Re: Please Help

It's so good to hear that the teacher was able to fix the situation @Serenity1 and help your daughter feel included. I can imagine that it can be quite daunting to have that happen on 2 days in. Well done to both of you for getting through the first week.

Text is definitely hard to understand, especially since it doesn't convey tone. Sometimes people like to help discuss their own experiences (such as wanting to sit by themselves) to help to provide an understanding of what may have happened. Of course, we are only guessing because we only know what you have told us. We think you are doing an amazing job making sure that your daughter is comfortable, included and in an environment where she can excel.

How are you feeling now that the situation is fixed and you've got the first week done?

@Appleblossom - Thankyou, glad you find my posts interesting -
Fun fact- the girl has decided to move back into her original seating position next to my daughter today. I think she has a Strong/ quirky personality which clashes with my daughters strong personality-
-I am beginning to think I am sicker than I realised- when I reflect back on this situation & the way it has affected me- the traumatisation my daughter & I have experienced from her last school & the traumatisation IV experienced from being abused my whole life & the way I have acted/ reacted on this post. I am not sure I am coping well & reading situations correctly because I am confused from all of the abuse & trauma which is Really scarey & I don't know what to do about it

Re: Please Help

@Eden1919 thanks- she was only sitting alone after the teacher moved the table to ensure my child was not sitting in isolation- before table was moved she was next to a child- sitting on the end -
I think you may have triggered me- when I was being repeatedly blatantly abused & treated badly by my ex & his family -& I would confide in my covert Narcissitic mother she would never take my side- not even on one occasion-& she would always take my ex's side- which was heartbreaking- I didn't realise it at the time but looking back on our interactions now I feel like I was feeling triggered but not really understanding what was going on & the dynamics that I played out with my mother trying desperately for her to understand me & be supportive & on my side- was playing out with yourself- so I apologise- I honestly didn't do this intentionally & IV only just clicked now that that is what has happened- I think this happens a lot in my life to be completely honest & in only just literally realising this now- I'm really sorry if I upset you- I value everything you & everyone else has said to me & appreciate the time you have taken to do so- I really think I am a lot sicker than I thought & that scares me & I don't know what to do about it- because I don't trust anyone-

Re: Please Help

@Ali11 Thankyou so much- that was a very nice supportive message that made me cry-
I think I am not reacting to situations or even reading situations clearly because of all the abuse & trauma I have been through which is making me confused & feel I'm not able to read situations - I'm really scared because I Think I am a lot sicker than I thought & I don't know what to do or what to say to convey this to anyone or who to tell because I don't trust anyone-
The girl moved back next to my daughter again today- from what I can see she has a very particular & strong/ quirky personality which has clashed with my daughters. The situation seems to have resolved itself for now.
You know when I saw her mother on the very first day Indi started school & she was sitting next to her child who was sitting next to my child I was across the room & I heard her speak to her daughter about my daughter & who is she is this a new girl-& then she looked at me & our eyes met-& a thought immediately jumped into my mind- I did not consciously think this thought it just appeared out of no-where like intuition- the thought said "we are going to have trouble with this mum"- it was really weird-& I don't even think it was my own conscious thought bcos it happened way too quick- but I got such a strong vibe off the mum- I am an extreme sensitive empath & I can't explain that thought-but feel very strongly that the mum was behind the child moving- & maybe that impacted my strong reaction to the situation-
Thanks so much for your kind words of support
