Deep emotional pains

Deep emotional pains

Hi @outlander @CheerBear and everyone. I experience deep emotional pains in relation to my childhood under the thumb of my father and his demanding control of my young adult life, that I missed significant opportunities to life happinesses.

In the past, the intense pains sent me so emotional and distressed that I stopped my medication and became very sick over and over again.I had fifteen admissions in ten years.

Now I realize I have to deal with that in order to live without admissions.

I hope to find support, compassions from everyone and we can help each other in dealing with our deep issues.

@eudemonism @Bunniekins @eth @BlueBay @Zoe7 @Faith-and-Hope I get easily overwhelmed with slightest things or often no trigger at all. That may be why I could never hold any relationships. It is also distressing for myself, ups and downs all the time. With the forum support, I am gradually learning to sooth myself throughout the day.

Re: Deep emotional pains

Hi @Meowmy nice to meet you. The forums are a wonderful place to come when you need support. You will find others with similar issues in time. I've been around for 4 1/2 years on and off and will always try to respond if you tag me.

Probably the single most helpful thing I know of when feeling overwhelmed is to remember to breathe - slowly and deeply until the feelings settle down. Another thing the forums are good for is learning what triggers those feelings and learning to feel it coming on and catch it before it gets too full-on by using whatever you have in your 'coping box'. I call it a 'tool box' and rather than have an actual box, which some people do, I have a list that I keep in my 'Wellness Recovery Action Plan' folder and add to whenever I find something else that helps. The WRAP is really helpful for me. You can google it to find out more.

I also keep charts daily that I got from my psychiatrist that record mood level, sleep, anxiety, nervous agitatiion, and my medications. "Mood charts" are also available online. This is a link to the one I use. But there are many others. You don't have to have bipolar to use it. http://www.cqaimh.org/pdf/tool_edu_moodchart.pdf

This way I can see if things are starting to change (I have bipolar 1 and cPTSD) and catch them early before they escalate or take me down too far. If they change too quickly I will usually get an earlier appointment with psychiatrist or psychologist too. Staying compliant with meds prescribed is also essential for me. So it's a balance between therapist support, self-management and medication for me.

I don't know if you already have psychologist and/or psychiatrist, but whether or not you do I recommend starting with seeing your GP and telling them openly what's going on for you...and asking if a referral to a therapist is a good idea.

Best wishes, Eth

@Meowmy yea I'm not sure... I've struggled with mental illness for a very long time... social support has been a big part of managing my issues... talking to people about it has helped... i still struggle every day... the medication and the side effects have messed me up that much it's basically given me bigger issues to worry about...

@eth @BlueBay @Faith-and-Hope @eth @MDT I think life is not easy for most. For us with MI, daily struggle could be a thing we have to live with. I struggle daily with my mood and symptoms.Having worked through some emotional traumas just mean the picture is clearer and I can see my obstacles.

I am looking at some helpful things to read at the moment.

Hope you will find things nice to do and let me know.

Hi @Meowmy 👋🌷

I am off to a psych apt shortly. Seeing her is a preventative measure for me ..... keeping my own emotional stability while living in a household governed by mood swings, control issues and temperament struggles.

Reading inspirational and guidance based books can be really helpful. Perhaps the most important thing is understanding that you are not alone.

People “see” and hear you here.
