Exo's Exposé

Exo's Exposé

Looking for somewhere to hide in the Forum, no offense to anyone, I'm just kinda used to my own space - it feels safer to me. I often feel like I'm 'butting in' on other threads, I want to say something but it isn't 'in-line' with the current flow of conversation.

It rained here yesterday, dogs & cats weren't falling from the sky, but the grounds wet, there's puddles in my driveway & it's soooooooo sooooooo much cooler 😄 Guru Google even promises more!! After this weird wet stuff stopped dropping from above, I took the dogs for their walk, I do this almost every afternoon, but after a storm with close lightning strikes, my main purpose is to check the fence is still upright everywhere. I'm happy to announce it was all in tip-top shape 🙂 I noticed new puddle spots all the way around, I was sad that some trees had to be pushed over for the fence line, but the dip of their absence looks quite beautiful with a drop of moisture shimmering within. When I had completed the usual circuit I by-passed returning into the house-yard & wandered through to the dam. I think I may have been a little rain-drunk, I was hoping to see water in it, there wasn't any. I even went & stood in the very center of it's base, I think I was expecting to sink in mud - I didn't; but the cracks are gone . . . & they were huge. So if the Guru comes through with it's promise, there may yet be a puddle for my Staffy to play in 😉

I've decided to leave my camping trip to the beach for another week, rain wouldn't stop me - it rarely rains 24 hrs a day, but storms have - they often have devastingly strong winds that can break off & pick up reasonably heavy objects, that become dangerous ammunition. I've been emailing with the owners of this place, I'll still be in the off-peak season if I leave it another week - though I worry being so close to the Easter holiday, there's a more likely chance of more people. I keep telling myself I've just got to 'get over' that, that that would be all part of the experience - but I know I'm lying to myself. I picked this spot mainly because of the dog-friendly off-lead beach, but also because on the satelite view of Google maps I could see that there's no towns around it. It's one of the most isolated camping parks I've seen {that's within 5 hours of home, well - maybe just a little more}. It also admits it has old amenities, I saw negitive feedback about the place for those reasons - I think if you want to go to a resort . . . that's where you go - not to a place that describes itself as a rustic, old fashioned bush camping park 😉

Hello @Exoplanet

Lovely to hear from you.

We had hail here last week I think it was.

Days roll into each other.

When a strong hail storm occurs, the hail can cover the ground appearing like a blanket of ice as opposed to snow.

I understand your pictures were about morning dew, mist. We get that also. Sometimes frost as well as fog at times.

I can see the difference now as yours is true photography with a camera; mine are clicks with an iphone.

I somehow manage to hold my finger down to long to find later "a burst of" images.

Hence 43 pictures of the same leaves.

I need to download all. Work out what to keep and then delete majority off of my phone.

I do enjoy having some on my phone where I can see hard work on garden progress. Nature growing and bringing a variety of foliage and colour.

I found an image of a misty morning in Japan for you.

Walking the Yoshida Trail.

a place to wander and find serenity

Wrap up warm for our hiking the Yoshida Trail together

love Sophia

Hi @Exoplanet

Lovely to see your photos. My faves are the flowering moss and the toadstool. The close up of the petals of the sundew is a lovely shot as well. Great that there is water around there. Minus temperatures, brrrrrrrrrr.

I am waiting for my support worker as I write this. We are going for our second bushwalk in a national park about 45 minutes away from here. It's a magic mountain, the first walk was incredibly beautiful, enchanting, walking small at the bottom of a very high canopy of spindly palms and ancient trees, so many of them.

The last walk was 2.7km. Today's is 3.4 with a steep bit in it. That will be a challenge, but good for the heart with the aerobic exercise that will be involved. These bushwalks are the most healing thing for me at the moment. Making the most of the cooler weather at this time of year. When summer comes I will be unable to walk in forests, just the beach, bare feet in water to keep me cool enough to walk.

Gee, this NDIS thing is amazing, even with the rough riding behind the scenes with admin and so many new people to deal with. There have been some nights of sleeplessness after social encounters, but may be finding some more ease with this part of things now, four months in.

Gotta fly! Big hugs and love to you.

Mazzy

Re: Exo's Exposé

I'm going into the city on Monday to get my first covid vaccination, it isn't through the doctor I filled out an online form & have to travel a couple of hours there & couple back. I've just read that my area is on high alert as it's close to a border {it's in the vicinity of a couple}, seems crazy out here in whoop whoop, but I get it, people travel - even if they're not meant to. There are so many bush tracks, not just here but all over Australia, that can get you across borders; it's probably more likely that people from whoop whoop would know them. I don't really know why I'm feeling so pushed to do it, apart from every news clip I see is pushing everyone to do it; from what I've read it doesn't stop you spreading it, just maybe stops you ending from it . . . mind you the only vaccine available might just end you too, I believe it's ended 7 so far. I guess that makes me nervous as after I get it I'll have a couple of hours travel back home & then I'll be alone; but then I think what the hell, ending is ending, however it happens.

I'm also heading into my little town when I finish this post, I'm smoking my last ciggerette & I gave the little fella the last handful of biscuits this morning! I had to get through to today because the library will be open & I have to print out the vaccination appointment letter, as it has a bar code they'll want to scan when I get there.

Well, time for me to go, love to all that need or want it ❤️

Hi @Exoplanet

I was definitely nervous getting my first AZ vaccine as well but the only side effect both my husband and I had was a sore arm. Going for my second dose on Wednesday. Good luck but I am sure that you will be fine. Sending a reassuring hug xxx

Hello @Exoplanet

Sorry that I did not reply sooner...

Life has been more of a struggle lately and have fog brain back...

Your long round trip into nearest town is testing in itself I imagine....

I understand your concerns around the vaccination...I am going through the exact same issue myself at present...

I have poor blood circulation and reynauds condition in my hands. Blood vessels burst in my fingers quite often.

My mum has been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder from results of a blood test... Sister and nephew have rare conditions... I also have a rare condition....

As my sister said....why do we keep on having so many rare......blooming condtions??>>>

My doctor who is also my husband's doctor told my husband to get me to see him asap...

Need a clearer mind to discuss my concerns....

I need to get my headspace back first...

I will get there eventually...

Sun is out here, today and was yesterday... Wind cold though....hate the wind...

Off out into the garden soon....

love to you dear lady

💛💚

yellow hearts given today for sunshine and nature .....

I know that you are the same as me in finding nature so soothing...

Re: Exo's Exposé

Hi @Exoplanet, first time on here for a couple of weeks, I think. Offline life is getting busier again, a relief after the long 2020 crash.

By now you will have had your vax. I hope and trust it went okay. Tomorrow I have my second pfizer shot. Fingers crossed the side effects are as mild as after the first. I have come to see masks, restrictions and vaccination as a kind of national service in a time of crisis, thankfully without terror of being sent to war.

I now have things happening out of the home every weekday. Because I am researching and booking my own ndis activities, I have found things that strongly draw me out there, such as music therapy, creative activities, national park bushwalks. These are things I actually enjoy but have not been able to access before for either financial or practical reasons. It's awesome.

It's awesome, but also extra challenging in various ways, especially because of the large increase of new people I've been coming into contact with. I have experienced some acute episodes of after-the-event social anxiety (eg. a 90 minute activity followed by 14 hours of painful and incessant replaying of every tiny aspect of the interactions).

This is where it's especially helpful that I actually enjoy the activities. The pleasure is enough to get me past these big roadbumps and the anxiety mostly improves as I keep going back. The extra physical activity I've been doing is also increasing my emotional resilience. Again it helps that I've found forms of exercise I actually enjoy: eg. bushwalks, dancing.

We've had to cancel Mum's planned visit up here three times since January due to lockdowns and restrictions. Hoping it's fourth time lucky in September. She's told me it will be her last visit. Her 86 years and health problems are naturally making it increasingly hard to travel far. We are just out of our 8-day lockdown here. Feeling for those still there, especially in Sydney which appears to have a long way yet to go.

Love to you and all reading.

Gidday Mazy @Mazarita , @Sophia1 , @Zoe7 , @Shaz51 & everyone,

It's a good thing that your offline life is busy again Maz 🙂 music therapy, creative activities, national park bushwalks . . . I think that's what they call living! 😄

Yes I had my vac, no pain or after effects, my arms not even sore now. I go back mid Sept, I think, they'll send reminders I'm pretty sure. I popped into my local docs, just to let them know I'd had it so they could take me off their list & they said they'd rung me. I think I do remember missing a call, I also remember answering one that hung up, no messages where left! That's the thing about calls, if you miss it, you miss out - online you've got time to respond.

I'm feeling a bit blah, have been for some time now, my motivation is pretty well non-existent I've been stalking Google maps, looking for a spot inland from me, with water, where I can take the dogs, . . . that's a difficult combination. Then there's the thought that I should wait until after the 2nd vac & I just lose more motivation . . .

Love to you & all that need or want it

Re: Exo's Exposé

Good morning, @Exoplanet. Great to hear the first vax went fine.

Yes, despite the more acute episodes of anxiety I've been having at times (the kind that would have kept me indoors most of the past decade or more), the increasingly enjoyable life outside my coccoon now seems worth it. Doing things I genuinely enjoy (rather than are just 'good for me') is making all the difference and is a massive change from years and years of barely being able to lift a finger.

Clearly I (and maybe many others) are not motivated by 'good for me'. This is even more understandable when I consider that losing the ability to feel pleasure (anhedonia) is a common symptom of depression.

I guess, then, finding and nurturing what may be genuinely enjoyable to us is a prime need in depression, rather than the endless joyless advice about 'eat this, sleep at this time, more exercise, get a job'. That certainly never worked for me.

Getting off my mental health soapbox and back into what's happening for you, I suggest that a second vax before going on another trip is not really needed. From what I have been reading, you are already significantly less in danger from covid and less contagious after having the first shot.

In any case, sending love and hugs.
