Exo's Exposé

Exo's Exposé

Looking for somewhere to hide in the Forum, no offense to anyone, I'm just kinda used to my own space - it feels safer to me. I often feel like I'm 'butting in' on other threads, I want to say something but it isn't 'in-line' with the current flow of conversation.

It rained here yesterday, dogs & cats weren't falling from the sky, but the grounds wet, there's puddles in my driveway & it's soooooooo sooooooo much cooler 😄 Guru Google even promises more!! After this weird wet stuff stopped dropping from above, I took the dogs for their walk, I do this almost every afternoon, but after a storm with close lightning strikes, my main purpose is to check the fence is still upright everywhere. I'm happy to announce it was all in tip-top shape 🙂 I noticed new puddle spots all the way around, I was sad that some trees had to be pushed over for the fence line, but the dip of their absence looks quite beautiful with a drop of moisture shimmering within. When I had completed the usual circuit I by-passed returning into the house-yard & wandered through to the dam. I think I may have been a little rain-drunk, I was hoping to see water in it, there wasn't any. I even went & stood in the very center of it's base, I think I was expecting to sink in mud - I didn't; but the cracks are gone . . . & they were huge. So if the Guru comes through with it's promise, there may yet be a puddle for my Staffy to play in 😉

I've decided to leave my camping trip to the beach for another week, rain wouldn't stop me - it rarely rains 24 hrs a day, but storms have - they often have devastingly strong winds that can break off & pick up reasonably heavy objects, that become dangerous ammunition. I've been emailing with the owners of this place, I'll still be in the off-peak season if I leave it another week - though I worry being so close to the Easter holiday, there's a more likely chance of more people. I keep telling myself I've just got to 'get over' that, that that would be all part of the experience - but I know I'm lying to myself. I picked this spot mainly because of the dog-friendly off-lead beach, but also because on the satelite view of Google maps I could see that there's no towns around it. It's one of the most isolated camping parks I've seen {that's within 5 hours of home, well - maybe just a little more}. It also admits it has old amenities, I saw negitive feedback about the place for those reasons - I think if you want to go to a resort . . . that's where you go - not to a place that describes itself as a rustic, old fashioned bush camping park 😉

Hi @Exoplanet

How are you going, dear heart? Up and down in my world. But today went for a beautiful 2 hour walk in a sub-tropical rainforest, healing to heart, mind and soul.

Re: Exo's Exposé

Hi Everyone,

I'm gonna have to go into town today, Mondays are my town days, but I've run out of
fuel as I'm having to use the generator more due to overcast weather. It's trying to rain
out here, trying so hard that a bit of moisture has actually hit the ground a couple of
times 🙂 The Staffy came back from our walk saturated & even the little fella took off
and returned damp & muddy [I'll have to check the dam today, I'm thinking it might have
risen enough for the Staffy to take a swim in!]
The cloud cover has made for warmer temperatures, it's been in the 20's not going far
under that even throughout the night. Haven't needed to light the firebox or even fill
hot water bottles. Though the weather site I check [according to the internet and google
maps, is only about 20kms away; it's used by a university for agricultural purposes], is
predicting it'll go under 5 tonight [probably in the wee hours of the morning], so I'll
clean out the firebox & light the fire before I go to bed tonight.
I love the spot you walked at Mazy [the photo you sent], I'll have to try & remember to
take a photo of some Sun Dews; I remember coming across thousands of them at a state
forest I used to walk the dogs in - but I've never seen them here before, I've got dozens
of them coming up along one side of the property! Must be something to do with the
much milder, damper weather here this winter.
I went to the Doctor last Monday, I got the medication I was after & asked about the
vaccination for covid. They didn't have any, so I'm on a list. I have noticed that both the
cities either side of my little town have had cases, they're not 'hot spots' or 'red zones' to
my knowledge, but they've had cases; they're a couple/few hours each side, but from
one side my little town is the first servo you come across if your travelling between the
2 - the same servo I have to go to today, as it's the only one in my area!
Well, just a little blurb, to reach out and communicate 🙂

Re: Exo's Exposé

Hi Exo, make sure you take precautions after you have been to the servo. Use hand sanitizer if you have it. Covid is a bit of a worry isn't it? Other than that I hope that you have an enjoyable day.

Re: Exo's Exposé

ALways love your updates @Exoplanet We have had most nights here for a few weeks in the single digits - and days not much higher - and rining the last few days so the garden is getting a good soaking but I am unable to get out there to do any more....maybe tomorow.

Presently have a squishy face on my lap wanting cuddles and giving me a licking bath lol

Re: Exo's Exposé

Hi @Exoplanet lovely that the sun dews have appeared for you and would love to see if you take a photo or two.

Can understand your concern about covid in that general region. I imagine some roads there may be the only ones leading in and out of fairly distant towns. Hope all goes okay.

I'm booked for Pfizer jab on Thursday, after waiting some weeks on a list of 2000 people. It's probably been quick for me because I let them know I have pre-existing illnesses. Hope your health conditions may speed things up for you too.

A bit of wet sounds good, even enough for the staffy to have possibly swum in it!

Well wishes all reading.

mushroom/toadstoolGidday Mazy @Mazarita ,

I finally remembered to take the camera with us on our afternoon walk! It was nearly out of battery, but I managed to snap these before it gave up the ghost on me 😉 That's probably lucky or I would have ended up with dozens of photos 🙂 I didn't realize I'd captured the ant-lunch until I put the photos on the computer, I'm pretty chuffed with that one 😄 The moss & toadstool ones were just because the camera was in my hand!, but the toadstool one does show the rain pitted ground; the dam is indeed deep enough for the Staffy to swim in, but he hasn't been back in as it's been a little cool here for the past week or so - a few nights going into the negitives 🙂 The days are starting to warm up a bit, I think they're around the 25's . . . simply beautiful weather at the moment 🙂

Sending you love & friendship ❤️

Dear @Exoplanet

Some stunning photographs there.

I know what you mean about taking too many.

I have no more storage left in my phone.

I cannot take any more photographs.

I have to download latest then delete the majority.

I am a hoarder of photographs.

Is there a name for that? I wonder.

Is that hail on the ground?

Re: Exo's Exposé

Hello Sophia @Sophia1

I used to be a photoholic, but for some years now I've gotten over that. I was really intrigued by the Sun Dews appearing on my property, I've never seen them here before & had been meaning to take some pictures of them for quite some time. I have noticed less of them & think they may 'go away' when it heats up - so I'm glad I got a few.

No hail here, that's a really rare occurrence, though I remember going through it once when I was driving through my nearest town; it was really fine, almost like snow, but so much of it I had to pull over as I couldn't see through the windscreen!

Lots of love to you
