Exo's Exposé

Exo's Exposé

Looking for somewhere to hide in the Forum, no offense to anyone, I'm just kinda used to my own space - it feels safer to me. I often feel like I'm 'butting in' on other threads, I want to say something but it isn't 'in-line' with the current flow of conversation.

It rained here yesterday, dogs & cats weren't falling from the sky, but the grounds wet, there's puddles in my driveway & it's soooooooo sooooooo much cooler 😄 Guru Google even promises more!! After this weird wet stuff stopped dropping from above, I took the dogs for their walk, I do this almost every afternoon, but after a storm with close lightning strikes, my main purpose is to check the fence is still upright everywhere. I'm happy to announce it was all in tip-top shape 🙂 I noticed new puddle spots all the way around, I was sad that some trees had to be pushed over for the fence line, but the dip of their absence looks quite beautiful with a drop of moisture shimmering within. When I had completed the usual circuit I by-passed returning into the house-yard & wandered through to the dam. I think I may have been a little rain-drunk, I was hoping to see water in it, there wasn't any. I even went & stood in the very center of it's base, I think I was expecting to sink in mud - I didn't; but the cracks are gone . . . & they were huge. So if the Guru comes through with it's promise, there may yet be a puddle for my Staffy to play in 😉

I've decided to leave my camping trip to the beach for another week, rain wouldn't stop me - it rarely rains 24 hrs a day, but storms have - they often have devastingly strong winds that can break off & pick up reasonably heavy objects, that become dangerous ammunition. I've been emailing with the owners of this place, I'll still be in the off-peak season if I leave it another week - though I worry being so close to the Easter holiday, there's a more likely chance of more people. I keep telling myself I've just got to 'get over' that, that that would be all part of the experience - but I know I'm lying to myself. I picked this spot mainly because of the dog-friendly off-lead beach, but also because on the satelite view of Google maps I could see that there's no towns around it. It's one of the most isolated camping parks I've seen {that's within 5 hours of home, well - maybe just a little more}. It also admits it has old amenities, I saw negitive feedback about the place for those reasons - I think if you want to go to a resort . . . that's where you go - not to a place that describes itself as a rustic, old fashioned bush camping park 😉

@Exoplanet

I just read your first post on this thread. I know what you mean about feeling like you are butting in on other people's threads. I am glad that you have this space where you feel comfortable. I am trying really hard to fit in but I don't feel quite like I do yet. Hopefully one day. Still relatively new here.

Sometimes, well more often than not these days, I run out of words. Perhaps when I think
I may have said or done the wrong thing, I don't enjoy my imagination of that? I don't really
know, maybe I just get dumber? I am very easily overwhelmed, something switches off in
my brain when people are around & yet I crave interaction with other people. I think that's
why this site works for me, there are people here that understand & accept that someone
can have pretty major changes in their thought & emotional process on a fairly regular basis.

@Exoplanet For someone that has run out of words you have put it so succintly and well described how you are feeling right here. It is often hard to find those words but you always write with such passion, description and thought ...and I love reading your posts.

Re: Exo's Exposé

Hi @Exoplanet, humans are social animals by nature and yet I get being afraid of other people. I relate too that sometimes or often when I push past my own fear of people, there is mental and emotional pain associated that can feel greater, and sometimes a lot greater, than the good parts of interacting with others.

It is wonderful that we are in contact here on the forum with people who get us more at those levels of vulnerability we share, keeping each other company even when we can't meet person to person, encouraging and congratulating each other on the steps we take towards greater wellbeing. I find real feelings of love, kindness and encouragement here.

Hello @Exoplanet

Struggling with long term on and off or ongoing symptoms of an unwell body and mind is draining.

Yes it can come at us unexpectedly and go away without us realising.

Within the western world all around us are messages of

dont let it get to you...........

dont let it get you down..............

stop worrying..............

why do you keep on thinking about it..............

look we all have problems...........

life is just difficult..........

Push yourself more.................

Stop stressing ....(how many times have I heard this one)

Stop moping about the place.............

why can't you be more like..............

I get anxious but I do not let it get to me.................

If you got up and moved around you would have more energy and feel better...

push yourself to get up and go out..........

I get depressed sometimes but that does not stop me from going out and doing things, being with others, you need to push yourself more..........

Often when people say some of these phrases they think that they are helping and being thoughtful.

These statements are not helpful for people who work so hard to get through life everyday, sometimes broken down to every hour of a day.

Long term mind and body pain

Some of these statements said in a caring tone, worded differently, might actually help someone who is well.

They are not helpful for people who have long term struggles with trauma, grief, anxiety, depression and or other symptoms.

It hurts me to read the self-questioning "maybe I just get dumber?"

I do not even like to hear that from people I do not know.

You are definitely not dumb. You definitely are not getting dumber.

Please stop saying that to yourself.

You are so intelligent, so resourceful, so skilled, so creative, so caring, so practical, so industrious.

You are very real, authentic, interesting, gifted, loving, caring, loveable, humourous, talented, wonderful.

You are also human and humans self-quesion.

Be where you want to be doing what you want to do and be proud of all that you have done, are doing, look forward to doing including thinking.

All very easy for me to express all of this in writing, offering my advice as usual.

Yes I self-question also. That is how I know all of the above and can write about it.

You are enough dear @Exoplanet 💛💚💜

@Exoplanet

I do hope that I have not upset you further with my epic response.

I have always been enthralled with what you write about your survival techniques.

You have had things break down, fall apart, yet always come up with solutions.

I was so enthused about your journey of building your fence at the same time ordeals with different fencing contractors.

Batteries not working.

Whatever obstacle was put in front of you; I was in awe at your resolve and persistence.

I am a very tenacious, determinded person myself although no longer have the strength in my upper body to lift heavy things, even silly stuff like turning on taps that are stiff.

It is so frustrating.

I too have learnt to be independent my whole life even though in my second marriage now. My husband is very good but does grumble when interrupted from his project to lift something or open or turn something on. Very frustrating and this I understand and hate from my causing.

How are your beautiful fur babies? I hope that they are cuddling up to you and keeping you warm.

I am so very very sorry that I have not been in constant contact with you. I am still all over the place , although better than I was.

I thought that you might like the lightness of the letter writing/ come story telling/ come confusing thread. I think that your storytelling skills were too advanced for us. I did not help either as I was very confused where the story was at; a replication of confusion still reigning in my life.

I am attempting to readdress the thread. Not sure what will happen.

I just love being silly and having fun.

I loved our interractions over the time that we have corresponded as your humour comes to the fore and you have not misunderstood mine.

If you need to have some time alone, you must do so, you must put your own health and safety first, we will still be here. I know that I have promised you in the past and gone astray. I do need tagging as my mind is still foggy. The fog has lifted somewhat. Alas still causes disarray in certain circumstances.

Write to me when and wherever from whenever you are able to about whatever you choose.

Always in my heart even with absences @Exoplanet xxx💚💜💛
