Exo's Exposé

Exo's Exposé

Looking for somewhere to hide in the Forum, no offense to anyone, I'm just kinda used to my own space - it feels safer to me. I often feel like I'm 'butting in' on other threads, I want to say something but it isn't 'in-line' with the current flow of conversation.

It rained here yesterday, dogs & cats weren't falling from the sky, but the grounds wet, there's puddles in my driveway & it's soooooooo sooooooo much cooler 😄 Guru Google even promises more!! After this weird wet stuff stopped dropping from above, I took the dogs for their walk, I do this almost every afternoon, but after a storm with close lightning strikes, my main purpose is to check the fence is still upright everywhere. I'm happy to announce it was all in tip-top shape 🙂 I noticed new puddle spots all the way around, I was sad that some trees had to be pushed over for the fence line, but the dip of their absence looks quite beautiful with a drop of moisture shimmering within. When I had completed the usual circuit I by-passed returning into the house-yard & wandered through to the dam. I think I may have been a little rain-drunk, I was hoping to see water in it, there wasn't any. I even went & stood in the very center of it's base, I think I was expecting to sink in mud - I didn't; but the cracks are gone . . . & they were huge. So if the Guru comes through with it's promise, there may yet be a puddle for my Staffy to play in 😉

I've decided to leave my camping trip to the beach for another week, rain wouldn't stop me - it rarely rains 24 hrs a day, but storms have - they often have devastingly strong winds that can break off & pick up reasonably heavy objects, that become dangerous ammunition. I've been emailing with the owners of this place, I'll still be in the off-peak season if I leave it another week - though I worry being so close to the Easter holiday, there's a more likely chance of more people. I keep telling myself I've just got to 'get over' that, that that would be all part of the experience - but I know I'm lying to myself. I picked this spot mainly because of the dog-friendly off-lead beach, but also because on the satelite view of Google maps I could see that there's no towns around it. It's one of the most isolated camping parks I've seen {that's within 5 hours of home, well - maybe just a little more}. It also admits it has old amenities, I saw negitive feedback about the place for those reasons - I think if you want to go to a resort . . . that's where you go - not to a place that describes itself as a rustic, old fashioned bush camping park 😉

Re: Exo's Exposé

Hi @Exoplanet, welcome back.

Do you know what kind of rock is in that area. Those rocks look ancients to me. I live in a large region that is an old lava flow from an ancient super volcano. It seems like all the rock around here is black basalt.

Pretty sure that's a goanna. Wow, how did you get so close? I've only encountered them once on a camping trip a long time ago in Croajingalong national park in south eastern Victoria. I was amazed to see how big and a scary they were. The first one startled me crashing in a tree and then I was mesmerised. We had to hang the rubbish from the ends of strong tree branches, which mostly worked to keep them out of it. Happy to have had that time with goannas close by.

What a beautiful place to be. From the different scenes in the photos, guessing you and the dogs went for some good walks.

The cool breeze sounds soothing, as would be all the green, I imagine.

Enjoy your rest time.

Love to you
Mazzie

Hi @Emelia8 I pretty much accept my scars now, like with some other things as I've grown older (now 58). It was harder when I was younger and maybe around perimenopause when I started getting bigger. Hope your day has been okay and that your evening is better.

Re: Exo's Exposé

Gidday Mazy @Mazarita ,

Thanks for the welcome . . . it was very welcome 🙂 I think @Appleblossom {Cooee
Apple} & I were wandering over the same kind of rocks, I think it was granite. I went
to a place towards the coast but it was still 3-4 hours off of it, but it's known for being
cool because of it's altitude & it didn't disappoint 🙂 There's basalt here, well one particular
spot that's less than an hour from my place, it's one of the area's I used to walk the dogs.
I don't go many places now we have the fence, apart from camping 🙂 I liked Fred too
@Shaz51 , I think your right Mazy he was a Goanna, I looked it up & perhaps he's a lace
monitor; I didn't get that close, I used the zoom on the camera 😉 We had some great
walks, each was 1&1/2 - 2 hours long. I think I over-did it a bit because my body has
really been complaining, I thought I was getting better a couple of days after I got back
& then yesterday hit me like a freight train! Though I think I might have had an abscess
on my gum, I bought a packet of mixed nuts while away - I shouldn't eat nuts I don't
have the teeth for it! I noticed this spot on my gum was sorer than usual {my mouth is
always sore} & then it felt like it was building up & begun a slight throb. I proceeded
to poke at it with a toothpick to try & dislodge any bits of nut that may be stuck there
& suddenly the throb relieved & [Ewy alert!] there was pink goo on said toothpick! I've
been rinsing with salt water {I actually use a couple of drops of tea tree in the first cup}
& am feeling much better today, I'm also being a good girl with the toothbrush - funny
how dental problems will do that to me 😉 Last night I also decided to start a week of
prescribed sleep, I've been waking through the night & ridiculously early with aches &
chills, so I took a 1/2 a pill, filled a hot water bottle, used muscle rub & put chest rub
on my feet! I slept much better 🙂 The rubs on the feet thing seems odd to me, but for
whatever reason it makes me feel better - I wonder if it works like reflexology? I know
I tighten my muscles & clench my teeth when I sleep, I've been told it's because I'm
ready to fight or fly {& with me that would be fly!} . . . not much I can do about that . .
I'm asleep! The pill, I think, helps me to relax more & considering my muscles & mouth
are sore . . . that's really helpful 🙂 Anyhow, rah rah rah - poor me! Hope your day &
all who reads day is a better one ❤️

Love to all that need or want it ❤️ @Zoe7 @Faith-and-Hope @Emelia8 @outlander

Re: Exo's Exposé

Hey @Exoplanet

We saw some chunks of basalt "floating" in the granite ..... i love geology.

Abcess on tooth not good. Salt waters the thing. Yeah I am getting borderline with the nut thing too. My dentist warns me to be gentle with them. I have to pick up and pay for a splint to wear at night for teeth grinding. Supposed to ward off more cracks ... and on sensodyne. Yes we have to get real about dental hygeine. Flossing is no piece of cake.

I like your idea of foot rubs. I had oedema last year. We can take our poor feet for granted.

Was talking about rocket science on other thread, then I noticed in news

Take care

Re: Exo's Exposé

Hi @Exoplanet @Appleblossom

I find this landing on Mars a bit thrilling, as with a lot of space advances, mainly for the pure pursuit of knowledge, its exciting. So many possibilities for new learning about life on another planet that once may have been something like our own. I also am drawn to ancient life in general and interested to know the further learning about that on another planet.

I posted in the Worry Room last night. Acute mental/mood trouble since dental appointment yesterday. Mind is not firing on all cylinders, forgetting things more than usual, even very recent things, disorganised mind, some feelings of being fractured and split moment to moment, like being mirror images of myself at the one time, very fragile and hair trigger emotionally. Even having some trouble navigating the forum, going round and round in circles trying to find this thread etc. Usually feel a bit of an old expert hand at doing it. Edge of tears and a bit of private crying, which is very rare for me now (possibly too rare). Seeing psychiatrist tomorrow, just as well.

Onto other thoughts.

@Exoplanet I can sort of mentally see the height of the place as I read what you wrote, and get a sense of the cool breeze up there. Ah yeah, maybe or maybe not goanna, maybe lace monitor. Feeling for you with the mouth problems. As with you and @Appleblossom hard foods are getting limited for me. Great that you look after yourself so well with a kind of bush medicine as I see it. Your prescribed sleep routine sounds wise.

My GP recently recommended I take a prn to relax my neck, upper back etc every day for a while to help with the severe headaches. Psychiatrist recommended the same for sleep some time back. I haven't done it yet though.

Poor us, my friend and anyone else feeling that way.

Oh No @Mazarita

I read your worry room post but did not realise how vulnerable you really were last night. Sorry. I hope you have gotten some rest. I dont know full situation re blow out, but if things are not good with the mouth it can set a lot of things awry.

Re Mars ... China and the UAE are also expected there tis month. Lots going on. It is thrilling and sounds like these are times we need all the distractions.

I had quiet day. Garden, online, supermarket and long session at physio. Doing reformer work on funny machine??

Hey @Exoplanet

bush mediicine is cool.

Re: Exo's Exposé

Hi @Appleblossom thanks for reading and getting that I am really not okay just now, really more of the same kind of trouble I've had over past 15 months. At least now I'm writing on the forum, supporting some people here and there, finding support from others like you. I have not even had it in me to post here or sit at my computer most of the time since end 2019. I've always said it's when I get quiet that I'm at my worst. Other times I am a comunicate-a-holic, even when life is not functioning in so many basic ways, as usual.

Yes, I regularly find stories about astronomy and space advances the best news articles I read.

Your quiet day sounds enjoyably slow-paced and relaxing. Don't know what reformer work is nor the machine. Interested to know.

Hope you enjoy your weekend.

Re: Exo's Exposé

Good morning @Exoplanet @Appleblossom @eth @Shaz51 and all.

Woke better this morning after a good solid sleep, much better so far than woeful yesterday.

Seeing psychiatrist this morning. Fingers crossed for something better arising from that that may help me with current troubles, hopefully without adding a bunch more issues while fixing the ones I have now!

Thanks for your support. Hope you all have a good day.
