Exo's Exposé

Exo's Exposé

Looking for somewhere to hide in the Forum, no offense to anyone, I'm just kinda used to my own space - it feels safer to me. I often feel like I'm 'butting in' on other threads, I want to say something but it isn't 'in-line' with the current flow of conversation.

It rained here yesterday, dogs & cats weren't falling from the sky, but the grounds wet, there's puddles in my driveway & it's soooooooo sooooooo much cooler 😄 Guru Google even promises more!! After this weird wet stuff stopped dropping from above, I took the dogs for their walk, I do this almost every afternoon, but after a storm with close lightning strikes, my main purpose is to check the fence is still upright everywhere. I'm happy to announce it was all in tip-top shape 🙂 I noticed new puddle spots all the way around, I was sad that some trees had to be pushed over for the fence line, but the dip of their absence looks quite beautiful with a drop of moisture shimmering within. When I had completed the usual circuit I by-passed returning into the house-yard & wandered through to the dam. I think I may have been a little rain-drunk, I was hoping to see water in it, there wasn't any. I even went & stood in the very center of it's base, I think I was expecting to sink in mud - I didn't; but the cracks are gone . . . & they were huge. So if the Guru comes through with it's promise, there may yet be a puddle for my Staffy to play in 😉

I've decided to leave my camping trip to the beach for another week, rain wouldn't stop me - it rarely rains 24 hrs a day, but storms have - they often have devastingly strong winds that can break off & pick up reasonably heavy objects, that become dangerous ammunition. I've been emailing with the owners of this place, I'll still be in the off-peak season if I leave it another week - though I worry being so close to the Easter holiday, there's a more likely chance of more people. I keep telling myself I've just got to 'get over' that, that that would be all part of the experience - but I know I'm lying to myself. I picked this spot mainly because of the dog-friendly off-lead beach, but also because on the satelite view of Google maps I could see that there's no towns around it. It's one of the most isolated camping parks I've seen {that's within 5 hours of home, well - maybe just a little more}. It also admits it has old amenities, I saw negitive feedback about the place for those reasons - I think if you want to go to a resort . . . that's where you go - not to a place that describes itself as a rustic, old fashioned bush camping park 😉

👋💞 @Exoplanet ..... love hearing about your trips.

I am considering a van and going adventuring, when I get past all the legal :pile_of_poo: I am still wading through.

Oh @Exoplanet ... I'm feeling excited for you. Joyful fear ... never thought of that before. Interesting concept, and clearly one that works for you. Nervous anticipation is perhaps another way to describe it? Glad the new car appears to be suitable for your adventures. Travel safely, and have a wonderful adventure. The walking tracks sound ideal. And I'm sure the puppies will be happy too. I look forward to hearing all about it upon your return. Returning the love. 💕😊🌸🐶

Hi @Exoplanet I love the way you feel the fear and do it anyway. Inspiring for many of us. Hope the new car does all you want it too. I know you had been refining your previous set up for a long time and hope the new set up is good for you. Safe travels my friend.

Re: Exo's Exposé

Dear @Exoplanet,

Guessing you will be back from your trip when you read this. Hope the rain held off or was light enough to enjoy, and that you and the dogs had a wonderful time.

I didn't know about your surgery, being away from the forum so much in the past couple of years. Totally get why you might want to stop with the tests. Big love and hugs, and admiration for your philosophical perspectives on the big issues, even when faced with an ultimate personal challenge.

Whether we write about rainbows and unicorns, or pain and darkness, it's all part of life as I see and experience it, and I suspect you may share that perspective. Perhaps more often it's a mix of both, even sometimes at the same time, as with your words about simultaneous joy and fear about your camping trip.

Surgical scars take a bit of getting used to for sure. I have a big long one from my diaphragm to my pubic bone that I used to feel self conscious about when younger. It's been cut into a few times for different surgeries. Since I've become a 'bigger woman' over the past 10 years, my once straight scar has become crooked, somewhat diagonal, and especially weird looking in my lower abdomen. Our bodies are like maps of our lives.

On a bit of a tangent, I've been thinking recently about how very few people seem to get out of this life without some kind of trauma. These can obviously be more or less disturbing to us, depending on the actual experience and our natural capacities and resources to deal with them, along with other factors. Most of us carry scars even if not visible. Seems almost a condition of being human.

I was reading an article recently about how the global population has actually peaked and is on its way down! That was big news to me, as I've shared your views on over-population for a long time, and believed it was continuing to show exponential growth. You may find the piece interesting:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jan/24/as-birth-rates-fall-animals-prowl-in-our-abandoned-ghost-villages

So good to hear you and your sister are in contact, and that she understands you fairly well. That connection may be especially helpful to you at this time of your life. I hope the two of you may grow even closer.

Love you too, dear heart
Maz

You were right @Mazarita I was back, just took me a couple of days to recoup 😉 Here's some pics of my adventure, it was a wonderful trip 🙂 My body seemed to complain more - but it was well & truly worth it! 🙂 The first couple of nights were a bit blowy, I sleep in a little tent that I set up under a portable gazebo . . . the roof & side of the gazebo both came in at different stages!! But I put some more ropes up & eventually stopped that from happening 😉 The weather was wonderful, there was this constant cool breeze even through the heat of the day; though I got a little sunburnt, as it was so lovely & cool I didn't bother with my hat on the first walk. The walks were great! Definitely different, the water & green grass certainly told us we weren't in Kansas anymore Toto! 😄 And as for the rocks! . . . I thought they were magnificent, imagine having such a wonder of nature just sitting at the back of your Farm!!

Well, I'm still pretty buggered, so I'll leave it at that 🙂

Love to all that need or want it

Hey @Exoplanet Wonderful photos.

I spent time gambolling over granite this weekend with a new friend, who is a bit frail, but he managed and appreciated it. Yep its great having wide open spaces and green .... so much more green this summer than I have ever seen before ....
