Exo's Exposé

Exo's Exposé

Looking for somewhere to hide in the Forum, no offense to anyone, I'm just kinda used to my own space - it feels safer to me. I often feel like I'm 'butting in' on other threads, I want to say something but it isn't 'in-line' with the current flow of conversation.

It rained here yesterday, dogs & cats weren't falling from the sky, but the grounds wet, there's puddles in my driveway & it's soooooooo sooooooo much cooler 😄 Guru Google even promises more!! After this weird wet stuff stopped dropping from above, I took the dogs for their walk, I do this almost every afternoon, but after a storm with close lightning strikes, my main purpose is to check the fence is still upright everywhere. I'm happy to announce it was all in tip-top shape 🙂 I noticed new puddle spots all the way around, I was sad that some trees had to be pushed over for the fence line, but the dip of their absence looks quite beautiful with a drop of moisture shimmering within. When I had completed the usual circuit I by-passed returning into the house-yard & wandered through to the dam. I think I may have been a little rain-drunk, I was hoping to see water in it, there wasn't any. I even went & stood in the very center of it's base, I think I was expecting to sink in mud - I didn't; but the cracks are gone . . . & they were huge. So if the Guru comes through with it's promise, there may yet be a puddle for my Staffy to play in 😉

I've decided to leave my camping trip to the beach for another week, rain wouldn't stop me - it rarely rains 24 hrs a day, but storms have - they often have devastingly strong winds that can break off & pick up reasonably heavy objects, that become dangerous ammunition. I've been emailing with the owners of this place, I'll still be in the off-peak season if I leave it another week - though I worry being so close to the Easter holiday, there's a more likely chance of more people. I keep telling myself I've just got to 'get over' that, that that would be all part of the experience - but I know I'm lying to myself. I picked this spot mainly because of the dog-friendly off-lead beach, but also because on the satelite view of Google maps I could see that there's no towns around it. It's one of the most isolated camping parks I've seen {that's within 5 hours of home, well - maybe just a little more}. It also admits it has old amenities, I saw negitive feedback about the place for those reasons - I think if you want to go to a resort . . . that's where you go - not to a place that describes itself as a rustic, old fashioned bush camping park 😉

Re: Exo's Exposé

I've got the solar system going, it's charging 🙂 though the batteries are very low; that doesn't surprise me considering I've been using them till they trip the invertor all winter, I'll try to leave that system charge for a few days & hopfully the levels will rise fairly quickly {hope I haven't stuffed them}. I'm taking the car into the mechanic in a couple of days, though the engine light hasn't come back on since he cancelled it about a week ago . . . that's a good thing - but I'll still get the tests he mentioned done. My next project is to try my hand at mixing concrete, well dig some dirt first - ha, my bodies already complaining about being on the roof for a few hours; I don't like being up there so all my muscles tense up & while I was up there I did the gutters & that's even worse 'cause it's on the very edge of the roof. I've got about a hundred old tyres laid out on my front lawn, I've stuffed rags into the rubber walls of about a dozen of them, the idea is I'll now fill them about half way with dirt, pack it down as best I can & top it with concrete then push some pebbles onto the surface. I was going to go with white pebbles, but when I saw them they didn't really look white, so I've gone with sandstone ones. Spring has sprung, well it sprang a couple of weeks back, everyday when I walk the puppies I grab a few wild flowers to add to a vase I have on the coffe table. Winter is still my favorite season but Spring is the prettiest, it just doesn't last long before the heat turns up & everything shrivels. My physio appt. wasn't the last one, my next one will be a phone appt. 'cause I don't take well to the masks. I can't stand anything being over my mouth, I understand why it's neccessary but I can't help that it make me feel ill & that I can't breath properly. Apparantly one arm is slightly bigger than the other {I hadn't noticed anything}, the physio lady said to use lots of moisturizer, she noticed a few sores on me {I always have a few sores on me! I don't have good or pretty skin, I have psorisis & scars}. Now that the weathers warming up I'm more likely to do that, thing is it'll soon be too warm to but anything on my skin - it makes me hotter & sweat more . . . oh well, I'll do my best.

Hey @Exoplanet Would love to see some picks of your latest project with the tyres if you are able to when you finish it. I know what you mean about 'white' pebbles not being so white - it took me a while to find the white pebbles in the right size I used in my outdoors mosaic project a few years ago - but the result was just what I envisaged so it was worth all the hard work.

Re: Exo's Exposé

Hello @Bunniekins Thank-you for thinking of me. I hope your enjoying your walks, the puppies & I enjoy ours 🙂 I took them in for their vaccinations yesterday & booked them into the groomers for next week. It'll be the first time the little fella has been clipped by someone else, but that someone else will know what they're doing & get it all done in one go - I have to do it in stages & often leave little nic marks, I reckon he'll be glad to get it all done professionally in one hit. The staffy will just get his nails clipped, I find the groomers {that admittedly I've only been to once} is much better at doing the nails; the vet never seems to take much off & we end up having to basically lay on the staffy to get them done, the groomers have a special table with an overhead bar to attach him too & it just works so much better 🙂 Love to you sweet-pea

Re: Exo's Exposé

I've got the 50w panel going as a battery charger, though I can really only say that as the led panel shows a symbol of the panel & a flashing arrow to the controller + the battery reading 13 {which is fully full 😉 } The pump that I use on said battery, which is why I made that panel into a charger died, the day before I hooked that system up . . . the day before I took the puppies in for their vaccinations - mid bath for the staffy; I'd gotten him all soaped up & then the water stopped, I thought it was the hot water system & tried restarting it but that didn't work, so I unclipped the hose to it & no water was coming out. I had to rinse him with the soapy water in the bath! I climbed the ladder & checked the water level in the tank - it's fine, about 3/4 full & with such a simple system that leaves only the pump itself. I've ordered another one, I just use a little 12v pump, all of about $25 worth, so hopefully it'll arrive soon & things will go back to normal 🙂

Re: Exo's Exposé

I'm off to the city today, meeting my Sister for coffee & a catch up. I really do appreciate that she does this with me! . . . even though it does seem a bit crazy in the current times? But none of us know how long we have to do things like - catch up with a sibling for coffee, so I'm grateful I can today 🙂 The pump arrived & I did manage to get it going, but it has the wrong connections, so I ordered another & this time I looked very carefully 😉 I'll continue using the one I have until the next arrives, but I have to go out & turn everything on when I want to use water {I'm still filling containers} & then go out & turn everything off when I'm finished, because it leaks due to how I had to heat the hose up & do my best to force it over a way too big thread. The hose connection that goes over the hose is way to small, which is why I had to force the hose directly over the threads on the pump & tighen hose clamps around them. I suppose I could wrack my brain & figure out a way to connect it better, but at less than $20 I've decided it'll make a good spare; I know it'll work 'cause I'm using it now. I spent a whole $25 on one with the right connections - I was thinking of getting 2 so I had a spare anyhow. So yesterday was a water day, we had a bathing day & I did all the washing, filled all the containers & watered some plants out the front. Both my solar projects seem to be working fine, I was a little worried about the 50w battery charger as I'd been using a 120/130w portable system to charge with, but the battery is choka block full each day {I use it on the pump & I'm not using the pump as I normally do, but it reads 14! before I hook everything up} + we are moving into a season that has much longer sunlight hours. I've also ordered another little 9AH battery which will give me 4 in total, I have 2 portable solar systems, so I will be able to use a battery on my lounge light & 1 on a fan whilst charging a battery for my lounge light & 1 for the fan 🙂 I haven't been using a fan through Winter so I hadn't noticed being down a battery . . . that's gonna change soon. I've got my next trip planned, I think I'll go next month, just after the Queens birthday weekend. It's not at the coast, it's hinterland of a well known National Park that's hinterland of the coast - it's actually only 3&1/2 hours away {well that's what google maps says, but goolgle maps must drive faster than I do, 'cause it always take me longer 😄 } It'll be a camping trip, no flash cabins this time, but I should be able to see the creek from my campsite & it'll be heaps cheaper 😉 Well I'd better go & start thinking about 'what am I going to wear' 😄 It takes a couple of hours to get to the city, we meet at about 10-10.30am & I like to get there a bit early.
