Partners who chose to stay for the long haul

Partners who chose to stay for the long haul

Living and loving someone with MI presents relationship challenges and often others cannot see why we chose to stay with our partners.

Being mindful of not intruding on others stories I thought having a thread where we can share tips and encourage one another would be of value.

Hi @Shaz51 @Former-Member

❤️ To you both

I'm on 4 weeks rec leave and hubby and I went on a roadtrip. It was so lovely to see him relaxed and laughing. The counselling he had has helped him to see life from a different lense. It's a journey for him and I understand one day at a time.
My migraines have improved so I am a step closer to figuring out the cause.
I hope this week brings sunshine and joy into your lives 🌈

Husband so unwell. Got him in the car and started driving to hospital 30 km away. 5 km limit Victoria.....he was abusive to people in the street as we passed by in small town waiting for the lights. Realised i couldnt get him there turned around headed for our Doctors clinic couldnt get an appointment. He flew out of the car-in the carpark yelling abuse walked off yelling about his last day of freedom. He was spoken to by police and 4 paramedics 20 mins later after he had been reported by someone he burnt out his verbal rage and talked his way out of being medically assessed. He is extremely intelligent. I found him in the park he called me terrified. He is going to see our local Doctor tomorrow if i can get him there. The poilce rang his phsychologist who took him off his meds but he didnt call them back. He called my husband about half an hour later and has not supported the police and his GP who recommend he be medicated again because he cannot cope with society or endure humans. I dontknow anymore.

That was a really hard day for you today @Carlachris ...... is there something you can do for yourself tonight to try and help take the edge off it ...... like a bath, or gentle music ...... cup of chamomile ...... I find a heat pack across my shoulders and back of my neck helps to draw some of the tension back out.

I hope the doc can help tomorrow. It's a real worry.

Have you spoken with Carers Australia ? They may be able to help support you in ways you need while you are trying to support him.

Gentle hugs ..... 💕💕💕

@Carlachris I can't begin to imagine what you are going through. You would be physically exhausted and so emotionally drained. I'm glad you are writing these posts and I hope that putting it all in words is some type of release. Your husband is very fortunate to have you. It must be difficult to figure out what behaviour is his MI and what is a choice to treat you badly. I have seen that with my own hubby. Being taken for granted.
Your husband would be a challenge to work with from a psychologist perspective.
Please reach out for your own support. Someone to talk to as suggested.
❤️🙏

I have reached out 4 times yesterday to all the numbers and they all went to voicemail. By the time i got through to a person i had to hangup as he came home. I will try again today. I managed to speak with the practice nurse yesterday. Thankyou. I will try again.
