Decluttering and home maintenance

Decluttering and home maintenance

When MI crisis happens, keeping house can take low priority. But having a messy house can further dent what is often an already low self esteem. Build up of grime follows and rodents have a field day in inaccessible places.

Getting that 2 minute job done (that has been annoying you for years) can lift ones spirit.

I have slowly been decluttering and tidying up our house. The progress made thus far has been achieved primarily by persistently dealing with one item a day.

What has often kept me going has been the encouragement from others @Faith-and-Hope, @Smc @Determined @Shaz51

This tip passed on to me today. Hang all your clothes in the wardrobe with the hanger back to front. As you wear them, return them with the hanger the right way round. In 6-12 months review all items that remain on back to front hangers with a view to donating/selling them.

My darling is very OCD about house chores and does a wonderful job keeping up with washing and cleaning except when she is most unwell. Even when not feeling up to it she pushes herseIf to do things around the house.

same here @Determined , mr shaz makes himself do things everyday , even when we have no work but then his anxiety goes up when he sits around too long but he seems to want me with him

hope this makes sense @Former-Member , @Determined

I managed to burn through a trailer load and a bit of garden waste yesterday.

Assembled 3 new garden beds

And dug over a section of in ground garden.

Darling and I moved a bit over 1/2 m3 of garden soil.

Was hoping to burn again this morning but tied up with other chores so will light up my bin again tomorrow. I like to do that as early as possible so the fire is out before night fall. During the day smoke is not an issue. at night it juat hangs in the air and I don't want to upset any neighbours.

Once darling is finished a cooking project with the children we are heading out to plant some vegie seedlings in the new gardens.

Almost all seedlings planted out this afternoon. I need to make the garden bigger tomorrow.

Also managed to cut out a wild tobacco weed tree. Prune a lemon tree. Turns out it is a wild one that is not any good so that will go in the next week. And transplanted a palm tree to make way for a rainwater tank.

Back yard is starting to look more civilised and loved 😊

Kicking goals and feeling good about it @Former-Member . Although feeling a bit poorly tonight. Think I may have overdone things. I need to pace myself better. And take small sips of water across the day. I often forget to drink during the day. Not a good mix when being physical.

I know there is a lot of pressure to make the most of the extra time at home, but for me it is back to basics at present and committing to doing one thing a day.
