Decluttering and home maintenance

Decluttering and home maintenance

When MI crisis happens, keeping house can take low priority. But having a messy house can further dent what is often an already low self esteem. Build up of grime follows and rodents have a field day in inaccessible places.

Getting that 2 minute job done (that has been annoying you for years) can lift ones spirit.

I have slowly been decluttering and tidying up our house. The progress made thus far has been achieved primarily by persistently dealing with one item a day.

What has often kept me going has been the encouragement from others @Faith-and-Hope, @Smc @Determined @Shaz51

This tip passed on to me today. Hang all your clothes in the wardrobe with the hanger back to front. As you wear them, return them with the hanger the right way round. In 6-12 months review all items that remain on back to front hangers with a view to donating/selling them.

Hi @Sophie1 I don't have much experience with mania - or how to come down from it.

However, I do know that mania can be directly caused by some antidepressant meds (as an effect) - especially SSRI's.

So if that is relevent to MsS - then it would be worth checking (advice & dosage etc).

If not, then sorry I am not sure.

Re: Decluttering and home maintenance

wow great tips. Once I go out I forget to do some cleaning. My partner I have to remind him to clean up after himself all the time. I feel drained from this. I'm thinking for 2 people and not for myself.

@Myself1 whilst we often have to think for two, it is important that our loved ones do contribute to the running of the home and to cleaning up. I am a firm believer that all who contribute to making the mess should help clean up (with flexibility for people's ability and circumstances). My Mr Darcy has become very routine oriented and this can be helpful for some, an example is on Mondays he does the laundry (bed linen + clothes).

Today I finished and packed away a jigsaw - I have put it and a few other items together which I hope to pass onto my sister.

Over the last couple of days I have got things out and ready for the pending arrival of our new whippets.
