Decluttering and home maintenance

Decluttering and home maintenance

When MI crisis happens, keeping house can take low priority. But having a messy house can further dent what is often an already low self esteem. Build up of grime follows and rodents have a field day in inaccessible places.

Getting that 2 minute job done (that has been annoying you for years) can lift ones spirit.

I have slowly been decluttering and tidying up our house. The progress made thus far has been achieved primarily by persistently dealing with one item a day.

What has often kept me going has been the encouragement from others @Faith-and-Hope, @Smc @Determined @Shaz51

This tip passed on to me today. Hang all your clothes in the wardrobe with the hanger back to front. As you wear them, return them with the hanger the right way round. In 6-12 months review all items that remain on back to front hangers with a view to donating/selling them.

A quick trip home from the big smoke = 4 moccona coffee jars and a bottle of kitchen cleaning liquid offloaded to my sister.

Made sure dishes were all done so I don't go home to a messy kitchen.

My sister kindly adjusted a non-Mexican sarape type shawl I have so that I can wear it without it falling off.

Before she did my adjustment I got her to do a couple of sewing repairs of her own that she needed to do.

I Decluttered my To Do List - even if that isn't physical house decluttering.

Applied for & received Low Income Heath Care Card - for essential discounts, especially PBS medication scripts.

I've been eligible for that, for about the past 18 months - but put off (procrastinated) Re-applying.

I phoned the electricity company - then registered my new Health Care Card, so that I can get the Supply Charge Rebate (discount).

I phoned the Superannuation company (was put on hold for 30 minutes) - queried why they are charging me for Income Protection Insurance.

When I had cancelled it, about 2 years ago - it got put back on without my consent.

'Onya @Adge

Decluttering a to do list certainly counts and I am ever so pleased you are back on a health care card.

Yes, that List Description sounds like me sometimes @Former-Member

Oh no, I have to do this first, & this, & this.

Now, what was I here for (doing)?

Thanks for your Decluttering "Onya", always helps.

Yes, a new Health Care Card will help with essential discounts.

Only in my home State (WA), I discovered.

In NSW they said "No we don't recognise that here" - "You have to pay full Train fare".

Even though HCC is for public transport Discounts (Concession) here.

Small gains here.

Motivation = puppy that wants to chew things not put away.

Since being allowed day leave from hospital and now that he has been discharged, Mr D has been task oriented, lining things up, putting things away, ensuring laundry is hung on clothes line (not put in dryer) and more. It is so lovely to have him back home.
