Decluttering and home maintenance

Decluttering and home maintenance

When MI crisis happens, keeping house can take low priority. But having a messy house can further dent what is often an already low self esteem. Build up of grime follows and rodents have a field day in inaccessible places.

Getting that 2 minute job done (that has been annoying you for years) can lift ones spirit.

I have slowly been decluttering and tidying up our house. The progress made thus far has been achieved primarily by persistently dealing with one item a day.

What has often kept me going has been the encouragement from others @Faith-and-Hope, @Smc @Determined @Shaz51

This tip passed on to me today. Hang all your clothes in the wardrobe with the hanger back to front. As you wear them, return them with the hanger the right way round. In 6-12 months review all items that remain on back to front hangers with a view to donating/selling them.

Well finally done. I now know what to do when it is time to replace the next one lol. Now I know why the plumber quote seemed high. Fiddly irritating job.

I am feeling more confident to fix the toilet in the ensuite now. At the very least I have worked out how to get to a seal without breaking any pipes. That may do for the interim.

At least the unplanned leak motivated me to instal the new unit otherwise it may have just been added to the pile if unfinished projects in the shed.

And apart from the initial meltdown darling did well in remaining calm and allowing me to wait until this morning to carry out the necessary repairs. (Aided by the fact we have a backup I think).

At our last house I was made to pull the cistern apart at midnight to carry out repairs. Same for tap washers at different times. So waiting till this morning was significant.

Today MsS and I repaired the picket side gate and cleaned and sanded it - tomorrow we will paint it !

Ms S self reported feeling manic tho after we finished and doesn't know how to come down - I don't know if it's the sun exposure or activity or stress of focusing on repairs or knowing I am starting work again on Wednesday ...

so she Is on FaceTime to her sister now and chatting in fast speech mode - but at least she told her sister she felt high ... her self insight is much better this last month than it ever has been

we are trying a hot chocolate and an afternoon nap after that to slow her down a bit

any hot tips for coming down from a mild mania ??
