Decluttering and home maintenance

Decluttering and home maintenance

When MI crisis happens, keeping house can take low priority. But having a messy house can further dent what is often an already low self esteem. Build up of grime follows and rodents have a field day in inaccessible places.

Getting that 2 minute job done (that has been annoying you for years) can lift ones spirit.

I have slowly been decluttering and tidying up our house. The progress made thus far has been achieved primarily by persistently dealing with one item a day.

What has often kept me going has been the encouragement from others @Faith-and-Hope, @Smc @Determined @Shaz51

This tip passed on to me today. Hang all your clothes in the wardrobe with the hanger back to front. As you wear them, return them with the hanger the right way round. In 6-12 months review all items that remain on back to front hangers with a view to donating/selling them.

You are so creative @Former-Member I love it.

An Air Freshener (in Letterbox), for being Stinky....

What a Great (very funny) idea (Chuckle chuckle).

Yes my White Bouganvillea has started to climb the trees....

The Flame/ Orange Bouganvillea (I so love that colour) - well it's still very small, not growing much.

I have Super-Intelligent (non-compliant) Rats in my Roof @Former-Member @Determined

They have been very noisy at night, doing that "Disco Dance in the Roof" that you described (Determined).

Usually that is because I have not replenished the bait frequently enough (for months).

Not this time.

I got up into the roof (dusty, yuk, cough cough) to find that in many months - they have not touched or nibbled any of the 8 or more throw packets.

They had only barely nibbled the Wax Blocks, that the rodents usually LOVE.

I was Surprised, Gobsmacked, Stumped, totally Bamboozled.

What to do, as I only had more of the same (throw packs & wax blocks) to put up there?

I put them up there anyway (had nothing else to use).

Went to shops, bought Pellets (boxes) instead, then went up again & put them there.

We'll see if this works.

I did not think of cutting the throw packs open - since they don't want to chew them.

Until I was packed up (too late).

Have not been up to check the ceiling baits @Adge but the disco has stopped so hopeing they have done the trick.

Far too cold for any real bad smells thankfully. Probably shoild go up in case there is any remains for removal.

Thanks @Darv0y & @Determined ell, I'm at the stage where I'm sleeping in the van. Had the lawn guys here so parked away and trying to 'relax' myself. In so much pain. Its lovely to have someone to check in with when I stop. I'm moving so slow still don't know how I'm doing it... its really hard 😢 had a couple of cries today. Arranged to drive 5hrs Sth East tomorrow, to visit my favourite aunt (mum's sister... have cuppa and drop off mum's ashes... Share our crafty projects... Then another friend Monday...

Back to basics here sorting some smaller bits that had started to accumulate on the dining table. After not working for at least a week, we changed a lightbulb and the air-conditioning unit was serviced.

A friend called in this morning, left with an old mat that we no longer needed that she can use in her garage. 👍🤓
