Something’s not right

Low mood

Low mood

I have schizoaffective disorder and I am suffering from low mood today. Not sure why? I just feel sad.

I went for a walk to the park with the kids and I just felt depressed and awful, all I wanted to do was to lye down on the bed.

The thing is I start training for a new job tomorrow so I should be happy but I don't really feel it, I just feel down.

Does anyone have any tips to pull you out of a low mood?

Are you getting help from a doctor? I don't have any tips of getting yourself out of a low mood.

Re: Low mood

Hi @Lilyq,

lately I’ve just been trying to accept that I’m in a low crappy mood and not fight it. Just take the day as it comes and try to not make too many judgements about feeling crappy. I’ve started talking to myself that 'today is just a crappy day and it’s ok'. I think when we put expectations on how we should be feeling it makes it harder and sets up failure. I’m ok getting through one or two days this way in a row but get swallowed up if it takes longer than this to pass.

Not or sure if this helps.

Re: Low mood

OK thanks @Teej I know what you mean about going with it. I guess I always want to feel good (no matter what) so I try my best to pull myself out of a low mood. It sucks that you experience a few days like this in a row, me I go up and down like a yo, yo.

Re: Low mood

@Lilyq Hi Lilyq do you have any bubble bath liquid? I would have a wonderful bubble bath and just laze in it for as long as possible (I know it is hard with little ones). Maybe the little ones can give mum a make over for fun? See what the come up with make up wise and clothes wise. I would also have a lounge on the sofa with a hot water bottle for comfort whilst the kids watch one of their favourite movies (if this is possible). I love hot water bottles. I will put my thinking cap on for the rest of the day 🙂

Re: Low mood

That's a good idea @Shaz51, actually I am feeling better. This schizoaffective disorder has me up and down like a yo-yo!

Re: Low mood

@Shaz51 blowing bubbles is great. I loved doing that with my kids when they were little.

what I like doing too is getting the kids to choose the Dvd that I like watching too

I always find a nice cuppa makes a difference too , sitting out front

ill be thinking of you tomorrow and sending you hugs

Re: Low mood

yes me too @Bunniekins

with doing childcare , if you bring water and bubbles, keeps them happy for ages and then give them a bath and a dvd to watch -- ohh wow , cuppa time and relax
