Self-compassion

Self-compassion

Hi everyone
I've been reading and looking at quite a lot of information and resources on self-compassion. There are some awesome ideas out there but I'm finding it difficult to turn them into something I can put into practice and do/be more of.
While this seems like a great idea
I find it can be tricky to do sometimes and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be alone with feeling it.
So I'm curious to hear others' thoughts on self-compassion and how we can be more compassionate to ourselves.
What does self-compassion mean to you and how do you go about being compassionate to yourself?
Do you find self-compassion difficult/uncomfortable or is it something that comes more easily or naturally to you?
Do you actively/intentionally practice self-compassion and if so, how?
Thanks in advance to anyone who shares their thoughts 🙂

Re: Self-compassion

Greetings @MDT I'm going ok today. Mild weather, quiet home day, small wins. How are you travelling, literally and figuratively. It sounds like a bit of a whirlwind since you've been back

Hi @frog

Can I join you in your grief for your lovely old dog?

My wonderful Companion Cat passed a few weels ago - she was a wonderful friend - naughty enough to be interesting - really cute and - yes - old

All the best Frog - it can be rough at times

Re: Self-compassion

Sorry to interrupt. Just wanted to say. I feel that I have to have some self acceptance to be able to be self compassionate. I'm working on self acceptance first. Then compassion can follow. I see my own stigma is an issue. I've spent time on this. I think once I can accept myself as someone living with a mental illness then I will be more compassionate to myself. Like letting things go, being kinder with my mess ups etc. Hopefully that insight helps others

Re: Self-compassion

Sitting with you @Owlunar I can feel the affection you had for your companion in your words. I am fortunate to have some friends and neighbours who understand. People who've been through it already know the depth of connection. Take care

Re: Self-compassion

@Former-Member self acceptance and compassion are essential. We must learn to treat ourselves as people we are responsible for taking care of.

@MDT yes that's the key. I accept myself as who I am. The rest will follow
