I am glad you did this thread. I feel them more often and stronger since taking antidepressants - but that could have to do with me feeling worse.

Hi @Former-Member It may be worth making a note of it .. in a diary or something .. When I noted it or wrote about it .. it helped distance me from the intensity and made it less horrific, and gave me handle on learning to manage them as intrusive thoughts.

I have heard sometimes antidep make it worse ... so not the same for everybody ... keep talking about it with doctor and do your research about the particular med and dosages.

Hi everyone

I'm on anti-depressants and yes I have had suicidal thoughts. Lately quite often but never attempted. I think when I am very stressed, frustrated, emotional about an issue or something that's happened in my life I automatically go to that thought.

I am learning at the moment through DBT that if I distract myself (eg. go out in garden to water or go for a walk) then my suicidal thought has somehow gone or seemed not as strong as before.

My psychiatrist knows of my thoughts and so does my GP and also my DBT therapist. I have tried a few times to stop taking my meds but it was a whole lot worse. So I guess I will be on them for a very long time if not forever.

Yep @BlueBay I am only on medication to manage my suicidal thoughts. We have to do what works for each of us.

But somehow it is important to get the ideas out of our heads, because then it can become a toxic secret.

Good Luck dealing with it.

Hi @Shaz51 and hubby

I have changed meds while in hospital and today i forgot to take them this morning. Remembered late this arvo so i called my local CAT team and the clinician said to take them right away and then start again tomorrow as per normal. I had a terrible headache today and was very emotional, tears flowing for no real reason.

Back on track now. I can't stop taking them because it affects me and it was only one day i forgot (or rather took them later than normal)
