Re: medication and sudical thoughts

Hi Shaz, thanks for this discussion thread. Where else can you go and speak openly about suicidal thought, unless of cause it conflicts with :/guidelines. I thought i had a lot to offer before but it was removed because i mentioned barbituates make MY suicidal thoughts worse. So be it. Just too tired to retype the other 10 paragraphs again tonight, that may have helped you, things that have helped me over the years (why can't they just take out that highlighted bit?) but hey, who cares

Even just that short post gives others an "in" on the topic ... I have lost many pages of my hard won insights ... but never mind ... just that we are able to discuss it is important ... nor are we catastrophising or blaming or manipulating. It is general, productive and GENEROUS sharing.

Mantras can help

"This too will pass"

"I have beaten other challenges"

Re the mowing ...

I never worried about getting a big market share of piano students in my local area ... not competitive with other teachers etc ... even gave a piano to 2 different ladies that did their own teaching from it ... now my son uses it, if you are on a viable income with newstart and can get pension soon ... maybe he can develop some other positive interests ... day at a time though.

Hi @Appleblossom,

thank you for your comments , we are not on mewstart , have thought about it but my hubby thinks it is too stressful for him

he wants more work when it is quiet , wants to cut back when we are busy , panics when it is raining , etc,

Re: medication and sudical thoughts

Your hubby is a bit like my son. He finds Centrelink and their requirements very stressful ... so I support him, he busks and we go with less. In general terms though, I am richer than I have ever been in my life, so I do try to look at the positive. Re SI I think CBT is useful for occasional thoughts, but more is needed if the thoughts are very compelling or frequent. In the Mindspot online course they try and work out degrees and frequency of SI. I think some better scales would help ... and then from that maybe better solutions more tailored to individual needs.

I totally agree @Appleblossom

I have everything worked out , so my hubby has no worries -- he is soo surprised on how much i save

in doing so , it has helped him to relax more .

I find if I positive and happy -- he is happy

Only thing I have to remember and I am glad that @CherryBomb reminds me from to time is to look after myself too

Re: medication and sudical thoughts

Yep @Shaz51

Organised careful wives can make a huge difference. My exhusband was so overwhelmed with fancy living and "managing multi million dollar projects" he had no idea how to manage anything simple, and stressed and carried on about unecessaries. I was clear: food, health, shelter, exercise and education and a few celebrations. I worked at relaxing him on holidays etc ... but sadly other things wrecked the marriage. I wasnt a domestic goddess but I always trimmed expenses to fit the size of the cloth??? and we both have separate reasonable homes to live in now.

As a word nerd ... I find it interesting that "husband" and "husbandry" are about the practical householding issues in life ... but often its wives in the domestic sphere that do most. Not always though ...some think they are princesses, which is really pre-spousal ... if you know what i mean.

Your attitude is great. My step situation was totally different to yours .. mine did need mothering ... cant compare. Keep up the good work. Yes Happiness is infectious. Something good to catch.
