Hi @Wanderer
I get it - I understand what you are saying about chronic pain - it does drag us down - having a bad spell with the cold weather in Melbourne is wearing me thin and it happens in the first half of winter - I feel pretty sure the cold weather gets to you too
But you go and sit in the cold when her team plays - that really does indicate that wonderful love we can have for our daughters - it really does
And your thoughts being like autumn leaves, falling, lying there briefly and dying as they float across your consciousnes - and also you speak of your endurance - that is hopeful and good to know about your endurance - I have that too - I am not alone and neither are you
Your write so well - and your line of thought distracrted through the pain - it is graphic - you write of the gloominess of your life but your writing is not gloomy - I understand this
Yesterday was a dull, cold unpleasant day in Melbourne and I went to bed early and read for hours - I did get up and made a batch of fruit and nut cookies that worked out well - there is no recipe - it's a case of add a bit of this and a little of the other and mix it until Iike the texture and cook them on a cookie tray and I had a late supper of cookies and milk
I had stress and tension in my back until the rain started late in the night and on Friday we had freezing wind and icy rain and at least this was not boring - I have a driver to assist me with shopping on Fridays and why does rain make people drive so badly - I had an appointment with my doctor which was very good - I had some treatment for it which as helped and I came home and went to bed for a while but I am up late and feel okay late at night
I don't like winter - I seem to remember you said you lived in Tassie so I know the storms we had in Melbourne we less that the storms in Hobart - and I have very special rellies in Hobart and they are very ill atm and I am hoping they are okay
It's really great you found us - and you bring a lot to the table as well

Hi @Wanderer
I only just got up - I slept for a long time and I feel better than I have for a while -
My daughter is improving enough to have a few people at her home for Mother's Day tomorrow - she was very ill and had two operations 4 weeks apart - we do love our daughters don't we. My daughter and her husband are empty nesters now - my grand-daughter will be attending tomorrow's celebrations. I am looking forward to it
My Tassie rellies are hard to contact - I don't think they are living at home right now - they are aging now and my uncle is very old - so the inevitable must happen at some stage - I can only pray and wait
Other issues in my life are sorting out so thank goodness for that
It is a good thing to have someone who understands what a life with chronic pain is like and there are certain things that we can share - there is just a link that it can overtake our lives and for me - I have a lot of interests that fill my days - you attend your daughter's sport - and you are writing a book - that is fantastic - what are you writing - is it a novel or some kind of research? I am very interested
I understand - I write myself - I got a long way with a novel some years back but could never find the ending - it started to look like a novel someone else has already written - I guess that it doesn't matter what happens when we write because the thing is we can disappear into this other world - the one that distracts us from the hard parts of our lives for a while - and having another world to go to when we write is something I get - I do this myself
If you can drink something milky when you take your medication that might help with the pain in your chest - or talk to your pharmacist about it - I find some of my medication can cause indigestion - a sharp and unpleasant pain in the middle of my chest which makes we go for my ant-acid tablets really fast - Up and go is a good drink for that
I hope your daughter's team does well with the hockey - it's so great that you attend but I can see you rugged up against the cold - I hope you have a thermos of hot soup or something like that
I am glad to be here - and I enjoy your writing
