Another year done, so what's next?

Another year done, so what's next?

I'm not one for New Year's resolution, but when the year ends I do like to take a moment to pause to reflect over the past year, and to think about what my hopes are for the next year.

For me, this achievement this year was being able to do yoga consistently for one year. I started it, hoping that I would learn a bit about discipline, and one year later, I'm pleased to say that, thanks to an amazing teacher, I've learned about devotion, and practice several times a week.

In 2016, I'm hoping to continue with yoga, and applying it's lesson to everyday life - being calm in the face of adversity, laughing at myself, and being kind to myself and others.

What about you? What are your highlights and achievements of 2015 and their hopes for 2016?

@CherryBomb@Terry@PeppiPatty@Appleblossom@MoonGal@all,
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.

So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.

Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”
― Neil Gaiman

Re: Another year done, so what's next?

Wow! @Loopy - I loved the Neil Garmin quote - I make mistakes all the time. I am currently building a website and I am self taught, so have to trial and error, have to watch many how to videos and read forums - I KNOW something can be done, i can figure out how to do it. I know the "make mistakes' quote wasn't necessarily at doing 'things' it could also be about friendships, starting some new venture etc etc.

There is one mistake I make all the time that I wish I didn't. I think it is because I have such poor self-esteem.

I am a very sensitive being, so doing work for someone else and having them say "Oh I don't like that (colour, configuration, placement etc) thing" I take it personally I have to LEARN to let go of my work and let other's input. I get SO upset if I perceive criticism. I tend to make the same mistake over and over with that side of things - If I hear a (perceived) criticism, I go from 0 to 60 upset and emotional or uber-angry in a nano-second - once there I am all wrapped up in myself and my own fears and failures... Repeat.Ad Naseum.

I would love to be centred about this aspect of my life, understand if someone says something that I perceive as a criticism that I can 'let go' of it - that it is not necessarily even a REAL perception. <sigh> I can SEE I do this in hindsight but seem not to be able to catch the moment as it happens.

So one thing for me "in Another Year Done, so what's next" is to do this website in collaboration with the client and be as focused and clear as I can be that anything THEY say is not necessarily directed personally at me!

@PeppiPatty my young lady, just what are you suggesting? I will have you know I am a proper gentleman and I am not like it with all the girls, it just so happens that the female side of the world appear to like my posts and it is great to be appreciated. And no I havn't met @Mazarita as yet but if what you say is correct it would be a pleasure to converse with her this NEW YEAR.

Give my regards to your partner he is a very lucky person to have someone such as you to care for him. He also must be a gentleman otherwise he would not have you.

DEar @Terry

How are you? I dont think you upset me whatsoever......you have actually helped me realise that my Mum is going through an episode.....I wonder when she actually realises that she is MI? She has covered it well so far. Pity.

I also had memories of a dear friend of mine who suffers BPD and how much I miss her but......she doesnt want to be my friend anymore and...on my part............it is very hard work to be there.

I dont know much about BPD or bi-polar......except that

1. you met us and it must have felt you wanted to show people who you are.

2. Im proud of you that you plugged on when so many would have given up and left thinking that that group of silly billies on Sane Forum are a group of Complete silly billies who think silly billy thoughts ......

3. your the winner.

Now .......guess what? I gotta speak to @Loopy........

@PeppiPatty Sorry to disillusion you I neither have a mostache or wear a hat and I would rather drink stagnant water than coffee from multi nationals. Anyway I a a herbal tea person. You cut me to bone when you said you were going to warn @Mazarita. Actually I 198cm and weigh 84kg which means that I am oer weight and have to go on my water diet again.

Whatch out @MAZARITA @PeppiPatty says I am coming.

Re: Another year done, so what's next?

@MoonGal. I can sympathise.

just where you are at the moment. There is nothing worse than putting all your energy into a project and have the person you are doing for dislikes some of the design. Don't take it as a criticism take it as part of a learning curve. Instead of one version fiddle with it and come up with a couple of alternatives but only show them after your first has received negative feed back. This will show the other person that you are capable of producing alternatives

Hi @Loopy, I thought I'd come half way and say gidday since you are already on your way! Isn't @PeppiPatty a champ for the way she brings people together on this site? I don't like the multinationals either but I'm still much more likely to be on a coffee diet. Did you hear the one about the chicken crossing the road? It wasn't for a glass of water. I won't even mention my weight and height. Suffice to say you still sound skinny to me.

Re: Another year done, so what's next?

@PeppiPatty It is a website to showcase and explain about what a particular not-for-profit organisation does.
I do not live in Melbourne I live somewhere else.. I like where I live, I also like Melbourne to visit but wouldn't want to live there.
