Another year done, so what's next?

Another year done, so what's next?

I'm not one for New Year's resolution, but when the year ends I do like to take a moment to pause to reflect over the past year, and to think about what my hopes are for the next year.

For me, this achievement this year was being able to do yoga consistently for one year. I started it, hoping that I would learn a bit about discipline, and one year later, I'm pleased to say that, thanks to an amazing teacher, I've learned about devotion, and practice several times a week.

In 2016, I'm hoping to continue with yoga, and applying it's lesson to everyday life - being calm in the face of adversity, laughing at myself, and being kind to myself and others.

What about you? What are your highlights and achievements of 2015 and their hopes for 2016?

Re: Another year done, so what's next?

I really value the digression that this thread took and thank all the participants. I do think we need these kind of honest discussions and for them not just to be dismissed as D&M. Anyway I personally am hungry for them.

I can understand @Terry wanting to share her good news about a healing experience, when it is a significant experience and the feelings go deep it makes sense that it becomes a part of the way we think and speak. I have had a little experience with charismatics and also those who mock the happy clappers or swayers and have a more buttoned down approach. I agree that mainstream culture is pretty brutal ... an excellent summation IMHO, but how to humanise it a bit seems up for grabs ... we all have different experiences and therefore different opinions. Sometimes temples and churches help .. sometimes not. I am so impressed by your reaching out to people with MI with initiative on your own bat and using Lifeline as a support. Thats tremendous. You also spoke about learning about appropriate boundaries ... which is also something I am learning about.

I have similar experiences to @MoonGal , strong early background and the Moonies (lol) tried it on me in my teens, but luckily I was on my one woman journey to the march of my own drum and didnt get too distracted by them and therefore not hurt by them.

This morning I had a handyman gardener out. Down to earth older Aussie, but he let slip he brought furniture to the Karen people. We have a big refugee population where I live and I also worked for over a year with my son with the Sudanese. I have known about this and visited Karen village 30 years ago. But thing I want to share is ... that this guy may have seemed like a typical xenophobic Aussie 30 years ago but he was touched by the local immigrants he has met and spoke about his emerging social awareness. I showed him a beautifully illustrated children's book "Us Karen" and arranged to have furniture and a table tennis table delivered to needy families and gave him the job without getting more quotes.

As a musician I am involved in understanding of feeling, expression, passion, all channeled through the intellect for performance. I see spirituality as varied and use it just as an umbrella term. As a teacher I need to talk to kids about the difference between playing in a "spirited" manner and "spirituoso".

I hope we all can keep communicating and sharing. Yes to relate with respect to another human sometimes we do need to restrain some pet ideas for the overall sense of community. We dont really want to scare people off ... many who need this forum have more than a fair dose of anxiety and fear already.

Yes, Well @Loopy.......oh looped one; you know what I think!

YOu have too many bills to pay........

But the bills keep on coming.......

I got back with the husband and now, when we go to the supermarket ....after going to the chamist for him to get his meds......I usually get my own way on what we are having for dinner.......Vege curry tonight, added chicken and coconut cream.......

How is your daughter??

I have a dog called Arlo who is the most beautiful doggy in the world...Bowie died and @kristin supported me through that.....

I felt this empty of Loops in my soul for the past year.....hoping that you would come back ............

On @Terry (hi Terry) well, she's getting love from everyone and she's being triggered a lot........she has a quirky way of seeing things........I like her viewpiont and I think others do too.

Dearest @Appleblossom

Here, here....great great post. You didnt comment on my message though.....

Yeah, I've read @MoonGal 's message again, it's easy to digest but as many messages here, I need to re read after a day or two because of the other things I have in my life.

Your message is so lovely how you arranged to get his stuff dontated to others......

this is something that I would do but not as dealt with thoroughly as you have.

I'm so looking forward to reading about your son's progress at Music school. I would LOVE to hear the playing. Years ago, I used to play classical guitar and when there is adequate space in my life.....hasnt happened for about 7 years, I go back and get tutored on it and as always.......get to about Grade 6 and life gets difficult again. I so dearly wish we knew each other because I would be that ...butterfly on the wall listening to you play the piano..........

On the last paragraph,,,,,,hmmm....yeah agree agree but it's interesting how @Terry's messages have brought out a 'flowing,' of information on churches......

What does @Stu think, @Jacques @Loopy @Neb or @Angels333 ??

Re: Another year done, so what's next?

@PeppiPatty. unfortunately the religious words of @Terry are fine, but best suited in a new discussion about religion. One must realise that this site is about MI and not copious notes on his god. He also has to realise that his God is not necessarily mine, yours or others' god.

In relation to my Daughter, she has not spoken to me for nearly 2 Years because I found out that her partner was coplaining about me to mutual friends and being friends told me and I confronted her about it and it was not liked and I was told, basically, to F..K off.

Re: Another year done, so what's next?

@Loopy tks for the feedback on thread re my self-esteem and putting myself down.

actually, i don't think any talk of mental illness is complete without 'religion'. if ever there was a 'foxhole' it is mental illness and the circumstances that people with mental illnesses find themselves in. as for christianity, what i was actually healed of was Borderline Personality Disorder, (which has been kind of like being in searing pain a great deal of the time for near-on 50 years, until last year). Of course i'm going to rave, sing, tap-dance, choreograph-firework-displays, volunteer-to-be-shot-out-of-a-cannon, launch-a-yodelling-career, unicycle-around-the-area-yelling-into-a-megaphone for the Lord! :0 🙂 Hallelujah! xxxxx

@Terry Re: Another year done, so what's next? Honestly, this is not the forum for a discussion about religion. You would be best advised to start another thread. I am sorry but I will not break the rules.

Re: Another year done, so what's next?

@Loopy my friend,

What are you thinking about for this year? This sounds strange....I know I know........but my desire is to start paper mache dolls house furniture.

@Loopy....what was the decision to come back?

Did you like my 'bill ' jokes.

@Terry, theres a wonderful woman called @CrazyBugLady who I hope has time to say hello to you. BPD IS A VERY dehabilitating condition.....if you let it get away from you. I personally had a dear dear friend.....someone I cared for very much but she decided our friendship was over. in BPD I've heard your IQ is extremely high......not that it means anything.......

Re: Another year done, so what's next?

@PeppiPatty According to the oxford dictionary the definition of is as follows "proselytize Convert or attempt to convert (someone) from one religion, belief, or opinion to another", "the programme did have a tremendous evangelical effect, proselytizing many." Sorry, once again I have drifted of the forum, and for that I apologise. But I felt obligated to put the correct meaning and spelling.

Re: Another year done, so what's next?

@PeppiPatty. My main reason for coming back is I made a promise to myself that this year was going to be a better one and with the help of people, such as yourself, I may regain the ability to join the human race again. I always liked your little snippets and digs at me. You are a wonderful lady who would never hurt anyone. I love paper mache, it is so relaxing and therapeutic. And can be another way of ridding yourself of frustrations.

Cricky, one would think I was trying to win your heart.
