Battling MI whilst caring for someone with MI

Battling MI whilst caring for someone with MI

Struggling atm. Just want to chat, distract my mind. Mum has depression, recently discharged from mental health clinic. I can see she's not well but she internalises. We are usually so close but she just wants to be on her own, doesn't want to engage in much conversation. Perhaps I'm feeling sorry for myself as I miss our relationship. I can see that my depression and anxiety is increasing, which is making it harder to cope. Feeling alone tonight.

Re: Battling MI whilst caring for someone with MI

Hoping your peacfully sleeping now @Bella1978 sorry if i pushed you away earlier. It wasnt intentional.my mh often gets me into trouble so im really sorry. ❤

What is your favourite colour?im sure i havea loveheart that might suit...

Im really glad your mums been ok the past few days.it does make it easier doesnt it. Have they been able to work out her uti, meds diagnosis etx yet? Youof course dont have to answer but i am interested in your life and what your able to share and i do care very muchabout you too.

Oh you have the procrastination skill too! Im very good at using that skill too! Id much rather be where im happy then coming home to chores.
Sounds like you are doing a brilliant job keeping on top and managing everything. Very well done superwoman 💕

Are you still looking after yourself to though like eating properly and staying hydrated? Getting some sleep? And trying to find some time to relax like reading a book?
Just making sure the carer is being cared for too 💜

Hugs and hugs, hoping to hear from you again tomorrow xox

@outlander

Good morning gorgeous

Oh luv, you did not push me away at all. I was so tired, and just felt useless as I couldn’t help you the way I wanted to. Im sorry sweets. And don’t you apologise at all!! You have nothing to apologise for *big big hugs*

Hmmm … fave colour … I love pink as it is a bright and happy colour. Although, im liking other colours – I like teal and orange too.

Ask away luv! her uti has cleared up. They haven’t touched her meds – when she was at the other hospital they fiddled around with her meds so at this facility they wanted to see how she went on the meds. The doctors will have a team meeting tomorrow to discuss her progress so I will chat to them after that. Her kidney function has improved a bit (not back to where it was) but is improving – they take her bloods every second day.

Aaaaw, I care about you heaps too luv. and I do apologise that im not on as often as I used to. Its just a bit hard atm. My bestie is living with her parents as her husband threw her out. She has 3 kids – they are staying with her husband. She has so much to deal with and I feel for her so much. She is also trying to sort out centrelink as she has no income. Fortunately, she is living with her parents so at least she has a roof over her head. She is struggling with that a bit though.

Haha, yes I was definitely procrastinating yesterday hehe … chores are overrated hey??? Although, I got heaps done yesterday – when I finally got home!

I do feel that I am keeping on top of as much as I can.

And yes sweetheart, I am trying to look after myself as much as I can. and trying to eat as well as I can. trying to pull back on take away. I did some grocery shopping late last week so have some more food in the house to munch on! 😊

And what about you sweetheart? Are you looking after yourself? do you manage to have some downtime for yourself? between your pop and your sisters I can imagine it would be hard to have you some ‘me’ time. But I also find if I have too much ‘me’ time that is when my mind starts wandering too much lol! … my good friend asked me if I get lonely being here on my own … I guess sometimes it is a bit lonely but other times its actually nice to come home and just chill on my own – especially if ive had a rough time with mum. But I have to say, it can be a bit depressing coming home to an empty home. that is when I ring my best friend and gatecrash whatever she is doing! 😊

All right my beautiful friend, I look forward to hearing from you. please be kind to yourself. I wish I could give you a big hug. Receiving a big hug from someone who is close to us makes such a difference.

xxxxxxxxxx

💕💛💙 there we go close to the colours as my emojis will allow.

Ok that is good about your mum. Im glad they are actually communicating now! Only took a while! Hoping everything keeps improving for both you her and your friend too. Doesnt sound likr shes having the best time atm either. Shes lucky to have you there for her.

Urgh i hate housechores! But they have to be done. It wont be so bad when my hands better though so that i can lift things and do the washing myself. My pop does the dishes thats his thing thakfully.

Im so glad your looking after yourself. Your very important too. Im trying to look after myself the best i can too. It is very hars to look after myself but im managing. In a way im use to it as ive been doing i for so long. Ive had to take on a second job too so now i work 2 jobs sisters horses and volunterr at the horse club.

@utopia

Good morning sweetheart *big hugs coming your way!*

I’ve just caught up on your thread – wow, you have had so much on the past few days, and I am sorry I haven’t been here for you.

Having an illness that cant be cured, but only managed is hard to come to terms with. For me I came to that realisation a while ago, but when my pdoc diagnosed me with bipolar 2 I found that difficult to get my head around, and I still feel strange saying I have it. perhaps its something I haven’t really accepted myself? I also know that rheumatoid arthritis isn’t curable but, like mental illness, it can be managed. It is frustrating though – knowing that we have a chronic illness that we have to manage with for the rest of our lives.

It sounds like you have had an overload of information luv, so it is understandable that you have so much going on in your head atm. but when our bodies or minds don’t do what we want them to do, it is very frustrating! Grrrrr!!!

For you though, there is the added resentment towards your ex employer that adds to your distress. that’s going to play on your emotions too.

Have you heard of the spoon theory? Click on this link:

https://butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/

it is written by a girl who has an autoimmune disease but I think anyone with a chronic illness, either mental or physical, can relate to it. some illnesses are ‘invisible’ illnesses – people cant see it so don’t think it is real. Only another person battling with the same illness can relate.

Yes, mums meds are the same. Cause they messed around with them at the previous hospital they didn’t want to touch them where she is now. Im glad they haven’t though. Her doctors (pdoc, medical doctor, social worker, physio, etc) will have a team meeting tomorrow to discuss progress, etc so I will touch base with them after that. Her renal function has improved a bit which is a relief.

YOU ARE AWESOME for finishing the 5km parkrun. 8am is early for that though lol!! You stuck it out and because of that I think you rock woman!!! If you haven’t exercised for a bit, 5km would have been a huge effort for you – maybe now that you have thrown yourself into exercise, maybe you can do a bit every day during the week, even just 1km and then build up from there. I think your body went into shock doing a 5km walk luv lol. Ive been walking for a long time now so 5km is a good walk for me, but you doing 5km would be like me doing 15km – bugger that for a joke! Lol! … so increase your fitness level slowly.

Your legs would feel like jelly no doubt! How are they feeling today? Im guessing you had a very good sleep last night! That’s another great thing exercise is good for – sleep!

How did you feel after your accomplished the walk? You were telling yourself you wont do it again, but I think you will.

How are you feeling today? Do you feel a little more settled with the information you were given re: your mental health? I know it will take time, and acceptance is a big thing. It is also a very hard thing but once we can accept something, we don’t struggle with it. give yourself time though.

Do you have much planned for today? I think I may have a bit more sleep – its 9.30am here. Am going to see mum today but apart from that, don’t have anything else planned so will take the day as it comes!

Look after yourself luv, look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sending big hugs your way!

Re: Battling MI whilst caring for someone with MI

Red Pandas are found in Nepal. @outlander. Nepal is my favorite country outside Australia. So I love all animals from Nepal. I remember seeing hand size snails near the lake in Pokhara. Their shell was more spiral than round. But I've only ever seen a red panda in the zoo. In real life I saw elephants and tigers and rhinos and crocodiles. Wow.
