@outlander
hey sweetheart, mum seemed okay today but was very drowsy which concerned me. i was 99% sure it was cause of one of the meds they gave her (it happened to her before on the same med) but do u think the doctors or nurses would listen to me??? i eventually spoke to her psychiatrist who listened and checked with the pharmacist and the medication interacted with her anti-depressant which is why she was so drowsy. im glad i didnt give up.
yeah, my sister is definitely someone i cant rely on. yep, she finds it hard to take responsibility. and yes, i know its not my fault, it just adds stress to my life that i dont need, and cant handle atm. i told her all that.
i just caught up on your thread luv. im so sorry that things are so hard for you atm, you have so much on your plate !! im glad you are seeing your gp tomorrow. can you talk to her/him about what is going on? would that help? i really do think your hand has compounded things for you. it has given you so much grief and worry luv. and im not surprised either!

@utopia
Day 36 – well done luv! keep going!!!
I do try not to take what my sister says to heart. It does hurt as I am doing so much for mum and she says stuff like that to me. it is very unfair. Plus I have a lot of mixed emotions towards my sister – love, frustration, anger, sorrow which messes with my head lol … I wish she had my back but need to accept she doesn’t and I don’t think she ever will.
I saw mum today – she was calmer but was way too drowsy. I didn’t like it at all. It was due to the anti-psychotic they gave her last night. I told the medical doctor and nurse that mum had been on that medication before and the same thing happened. They wouldn’t listen. I told the nurse to check with the doctor, she said she did, I said check again cause I don’t want mum taking it – she will get even more drowsy. Anyway, I spoke to the psychiatrist, who then liaised with the pharmacist who confirmed the mixture of anti depressant and the anti-psychotic mum was on interact with each other and increase drowsiness. Idiots! I know mum better than they do so I wish they would just listen to me lol … when I tell the nurse the stock standard response is “that is what the doctor has charted up” and I respect they are caught in the middle but I also do think they need to take the family’s concerns seriously, not just brush them off.
That’s awesome that you spent some time reading your book – good girl hehe
Did you have a nap and do your grocery shopping? I also need to do grocery shopping but cant be bothered lol … actually mum wrote a shopping list for me today to buy some goodies so I have enough food at home hehe … too cute!

Re: Battling MI whilst caring for someone with MI
Just reading through my messages now.
Was in Melbourne yesterday and then slept 16 & 1/2 hours. Only woke up when my Case Manager arrived just after 10 this morning.
Aaarrrggghhh!!!!!!!!!!
Bloody doctors that think they know best. You'd think that before they prescribe a new drug - that they would take the time to check that it doesn't inter react with any other meds the patient is on. Thank God you were there advocating for your mum. But you shouldn't have needed to in this case..
I had a very bad incident with my old psychiatrist (he was iff his nuts). The nurses listened to all my concerns about him. But again, unfortunately due to some psychiatrists thinking they are god, the nurses can't intervene for us. It's bloody wrong and I put in a complaint about it at a hospital I will never go to again - when my 'out of his crazy mind' psychiatrist tried to have me committed to the oublic locked ward, because I dared aak for a second opinion - when he wasn't making any sense. But I won't go there. My hands are shaking badly from anxiety just typing that much.
anyway - so glad you could intervene. Just wish you didn't need too
Please do put in a written complaint to the hospital - stating that the doctor didn't check that the med would interfere and cause adverse results with her other meds. And also that, why is it that the nursing staff can't question a doctor about incorrect medications - especially when a relative has stated this.
We need hospitals to train their doctors better. To get them to always double check meds. And we need the hospitals to allow and encourage nurses to advocate on patients behalf when they see something wrong going on.
So yes, out in a letter and let's get this God mentality thrown out.
Rant over. Lol

Re: Battling MI whilst caring for someone with MI
Hey beautiful gals. Just dropping in to say hi. Not really up to writing much tonight. Have been having bouts of anxiety the past couple of days. Very unsettled about mum, not knowing what is going to happen, and exhausted. Just wish she was home. Thinking of you both xxxx
